Danya makes you understand chess. There's a thought process behind every move, he explains that, he explains why some moves are not good, and as you see more of his videos, you start to grasp the thought process any chess player should follow. Probably one of the best teachers of chess out there
Daniel is one of the greatest chess instructors of our time. He is absolutely brilliant. The level of explanation he goes into this video is perfectly on par with the rating he is at and that goes for all in this series.
13:45 that explanation about pins was so easy to understand and the way you executed the move so flawlessly as well. I never though about moves like this before. Thank you for being such a great teacher Danya.
This was an amazing video! I really love your videos because they focus more on teaching chess rather than just entertainment. For someone who truly wants to learn chess, this kind of content is actually more engaging. The way you calmly and step by step explain and help us think-or learn how to think-is fantastic. After all, the true charm of chess lies in gradually uncovering and exploring ideas.
Hey Daniel, I never have the opportunity to thank you for all the free videos that you upload on daily/weekly basis, it means a lot to me. Also I wanna congratulate you for your victory against Fabi, maybe Fabi doesn't have the best tournament, but your style of playing is amazing and you deserve your victory. I come from Macedonia, where interest in chess is very low, there are a total of 9 grandmasters in the country, people here are occupied with poverty, high level of corruption, low salaries and nobody have time to teach chess, to play chess or to invest in chess, so our only touch with chess are these chess videos on RUclips, and yours are my favorites. Once again, thank you!
Danya you should do a “reverse speed run” where lower rated players play you, and they commentate their moves so we can see their faulty rationale, and then you can analyze and show where they went wrong.
@@micachakraborty2630 well I was assuming it would be more of a discussion! Explaining why the beginner logic is wrong/trying to isolate common mental traps that beginners fall into. I think Daniel is already excellent at that by the way, but I think including a 1400ish player in the discussion could be really interesting. On the other hand this would then basically become a 1:1 lesson and I’m not sure he should necessarily give everything away like that!
GG on crushing Fabi. What a feeling that must be! Lots of hard work paying off. Grats on all the well deserved success my guy. You have no idea how much we all appreciate this content!

I used to struggle against Queen's gambit/Queen's Indian in the past, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Danya for introducing me to the Grunfeld defense. Keep up the good work!!
Congrats on the win against Caruana! Thanks for uploading and sharing your love of chess for free, you give a glimpse of high level chess that can sometimes be hard to access or understand.
at 5:19, taking the pawn on d4 with the knight will blunder queen takes knight which will also serve the purpose of defending the bishop from the rook and also meanwhile the white queen stays protected by the white knight on f3 from being captured by the black queen
I pretty much know all of the chess content creators at this point & I’m comfortable saying you’re near, if not at the top of instruction chess. Please keep this content coming.
Bf8 in the game against Fabi was just *Chefs Kiss meme* material:) Hope to see another speedrun at some point in time - I think the 10 minute games are great format:)
It would be great to have double audio with both a 1400 and Danya like he sometimes does with Firouzja in bullet matches. It would help to understand the flawed thought process of the weaker player. You could hear the 1400 say things like "I'm just gonna be solid here" while Danya says "He's playing just a bit too passive, and it's time to pounce."
By far the best chess lessons online for every level. Lightyears ahead of anyone else. Easy to understand the masters ideas and forward planning. Theory about the opening moves and tactital squares. Watch a few lesson. Take notes Practice in real games. Your chess will leap no matter your level. Thank you very very much!
That was amazing. I try to guess the move before it's played, And my accuracy is pretty low. My rating in Rapid10 min game is around 1700. And these lessons are priceless. Thank you Sensei.
You truly are an amazing teacher! This public good is just amazing! I have to say I'm basically as bummed about this series ending as I am about a good TV show ending. In an ideal world, you do these slow runs again and again, but that would probably be boring for you. Anyway you're amazing, thanks for this!
Yesterday I got my rank of puzzles up to 2100 from 1800 and when I came to play games I could spot all the tactics immediately. My problem is more of a strategic one, I think that if I dedicate more time to strategic thought process and books of positional chess that will improve my chess. Any opinions Danya?
Great videos as always, but we seem to be missing several...what happened to everything else between 1940 and 2100 rating? You can tell watching the videos that there were large jumps in rating that are not posted...about 50 pts per video where normally it's 10.
Hey Danya, I have a suggestion for a new video... Can you try to play some game where you intentionally make some type of blunder and show us how to do "damage control" and try to come back from a worse position? I know it may sound ridiculous, but I never saw any video like that and I think you'd be the best teacher for this type of video
As always, amazing content. Only critique: without getting into the nuances of the German "ü", if you say "ooh" (as in "ooh, ahh, look at those fireworks!") and add a hint of "ewe" (as in sheep), the pronunciation would be slightly more accurate. "Groonfeld(t)" would be just fine, with a hint of "Grewenfeld" and you could be a native speaker. ;-)
Danya, just to clarify: at 4:15, this doesn't make White "lose a tempo." People always say this in QGD positions and it's not true. All it does is prevent white from *gaining* a tempo by capturing and developing simultaneously. This is similar to when people say the scandinavian "loses a tempo" since you have to move your queen without mentioning that black developed the queen for free on a capture (while white captured the pawn without developing).
That's an interesting perspective, but I have to respectfully disagree (though I'd say that either way of thinking about it is valid, and what I'm about to say is pretty much just semantics). I think the fact that the bishop captures the pawn on c4 is irrelevant; Bc4 is still a developing move, and I believe the only way to gain a tempo by developing is to simultaneously attack one of your opponent's pieces; simply capturing something does not equate to gaining a tempo. Hence, White has still moved the bishop twice, and so I believe it's more accurate to refer to it as losing a tempo. I hope that makes sense :)
@@DanielNaroditskyGM As a Catalan player, your version of this makes more sense. It isn't as though white recaptures in all such positions... but you certainly do if your bishop is hit, whether you like it or not!
@@DanielNaroditskyGM This makes sense and you’re correct that it’s a semantic disagreement. I tend to think the phrase “gaining a tempo” should apply in all cases where one side develops more quickly than the other, irrespective of whether that came by way of a threat or capture, but I’m also not in charge of defining words :)
Move 27. ... Nxb3 was obvious. Just calculate because of the last move white made. Ask your self what if i take bishop where will my knight be if you do you will see white has two pieces hanging and he has to try to defend both and recapture the knight all at the same time which is impossible.
10:07 Here I immediately spotted the tactic of taking the knight with the bishop and let him take our queen, then take his queen. Turns out the silent Qc7 was better, but "tucking it back to e8 would definitely be a blunder...

Is coaching not sufficient? What would we gain from listening to a worse player give their thoughts on a position vs a gm
