what I think he meant is that to control the dark power, just like it does to you, lean into it and let seep into you, so when it becomes lax, you take back your own power, with the info that you gained while it was controlling you. "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." sorta deal
I was thinking, that in both English and Japanese translation from “giving into at some point” or “becoming one with it” in my interpretation means to use that power in a way that isn’t destructive. For example when Tsubasa had came to terms with the dark power it’s as if he gave reason to the anger and desire to win granted he wasn’t overpowered but he managed to win the match against Sophie and whales and in my interpretation use that same dark power within eagle and use it with a clear mind and soul. To further onto it, when Tsubasa almost lost it again due to Argo insulting him, Gingka brought him back to his senses to keep his calm.
so it would be something like "making it become one with YOU" rather than you becoming one with the power, don't resist, but channel i tinto what YOU want. I like the idea of "immerse yourself in it at least once." and with how Japanese as a language often assumes you know context, i would read it as "immerse yourself in the power at least once, [then you''ll understand it.]"
I think this also applies for beyblade burst as well especially with s3 shu and s4 aiger before he got his beyblade destroyed and accepted his inner demons and greed his beyblade from his corruption of always winning and not accepting his loses
@@aristeel7654 as someone who has seen the first 2 seaosns, albeit dubbed (I do not know abut the transaltion but the quality of the dub itself is quite good) the series is well worth it.
@@Darth_Malgus4627 I started X for now, since I was intrigued by what I see of Multi and Bird's connection. I'm on episode 7 or so, so far nothing too special, but we'll see!
I don’t think the translation of the English version is too liberal because regardless of how it was said, when Tsubasa finally overcomes the dark power, he essentially does both, and retroactively expounds upon what those phrases meant. He“gives into the dark power” by acknowledging the darker aspects of his nature that the power manifests from as part of himself. And then he “becomes one with it” by recognizing the light within himself, allowing it to grow, and balance out the darkness, becoming whole.
@@dazeyfilms That is true, the end result is the same, and that is clearly shown. But I think it's more so that he made the dark power become one with him, rather than the opposite. In any case, I just feel it lacks a little bit of a nuance, if you're watching it for the first time, you could maybe even question if Ryuga is trying to help Tsubasa or not. But it all becomes clear after you watch the next 2 episodes, so it's all good :p
He also voices Overhaul a.k.a. Kai Chisaki. Not super relavent but I thought it was neat, they share the ability to cause mass destruction with a wave of their hand I guess.
Good job. It always bugged me that Ryuga was advising to become one with the dark power, and I didn’t think this line was much more complex in Japanese, even though there are other examples of the English translation taking liberties with the original dub. Since the dark power comes from human greed and desires, it makes sense that Tsubasa must understand his dark desires so he can differentiate himself from them and reaffirm his personality.
@@Mr.Compass-95 thank you, I'm happy this video helped you understand something new! What other liberties/differences have you noticed in the dub? There are quite a few in episode 43 in Ryutaro's dialogue, I might make a video about that too!
@@aristeel7654 There are two examples that stuck in my mind: In episode 87, Ziggurat encourages Zeo to draw out Ryuga's power using Byxis' special move, but in the dub, he talks about how this will allow him to collect all the data. In episode 94, in the Japanese dub, Damian says something like he has been chosen by God and jokes about being chosen by the devil after Gingka shows irritation. Yet in english translation and all the other I saw this was removed.
Why did it bug you. It make sense. Everyone has darkness inside them. No one is pure. Tsubasa spent too much time trying to fight it and all that did was make the dark power get stronger and stronger in terms of affecting him. If he stopped to understand and become one with it he could overcome it in a ways where he could use that power but with him in control. It’s like what Bruce banner did what hulk in the MCU. Bruce was spent so much time fighting hulk that eventually he wouldn’t transform back to Bruce. Bruce then found a way to combine themselves to make something good out of it. It makes sense. All this nonsense about Ryuga saying that is ridiculous.

Yes, it's an anime about spinning metal tops. Here's my take on it: accep the primal urges and thoughts inside you but always resolve to conquer it. "To unleash the warrior within, you must tame the beast with out. Seek the balance."
"Become one with it " so the source of negative energy like greed and envy is from you and when you accept and change your greed then dark power have to be changed

I think that the dark power is not truly defeated or unlocked, it's like latent potential and ryuga and tsubasa could only best accept as much of it as they could and could not fully transform it into themselves or destroy it and create it into their blader spirit and own power.
That is not true, they did overcome it. It is possible that a new version of it could resurface, but the original was built over many centuries, so it'd take quite a bit of time or effort 😅
