People are free to add carbs and veggies to the meat, but it doesn't change the fact that cats are obligate carnivores. Their digestive tract does not have the enzymes to break down the carbs and veggies. Having active and slim kitties does not add enzymes to their digestive tract. 😻 Of course they won't drop dead but it will shorten their lives. I am the happy owner of many kitties who live(d) beyond the 20 years of age. Just for your info.
Francoise, That is good and correct info on cat carbs. thx for posting. I believe cats make their own vit c for immune system. My kitty lived to 23 years.
You are 100% correct!! Cats are strictly carnivores. Dont use the "they are domesticated now" LOL. Yes, their environment is domesticated BUT their bodies have NOT CHANGED. NO CARB/STARCH AND NO VEGGIES SHOULD PASS YOUR KITTIES LIPS...EVER! I just lost a 23 year old kitty and the one before that was 22 yrs. old. ALL of them were on a raw food diet with supplements. Supplements are super important. I have been a health advocate for pets and a raw food diet for over 30 years. I always tell folks in the beginning of mentoring for a raw food diet this: 'Mimic the wild'. No, they are not in the wild but 'mimic' the diet of when they were in the wild.
Many 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐈❤️🐈⬛ Yes, cats are obligate carnivores. Also, I feed mine a simple raw diet with added Taurine and sometimes other human-grade quality supplements. Their natural diet does NOT contain vegetation. You may see cats chew on a stem of grass or plant, but it is for a type of medicinal purpose, not for nutrition. In fact, I have never seen any cat out in the wild, cooking it's food . 😂
Agreed, no carbs in any form, whether vegetables or grains. Still, the ingredients are human grade, and that’s better than the majority of mass produced pet foods… I make raw to lightly cooked, human grade food for my cats (and one dog). Costs a little more than this recipe, but honestly, not by much.
I am feeling 48 cats total right now and I have IBD and skin conditions. I started your turkey and chicken cat food 1-1/2 years ago, slowly replaced wet cat food with your recipe and I have no cats with skin dermatitis and only have one cat with IBD episodes once a year. I do find that the turkey recipe without flax seed is best for the cat with IBD. They do still get dry cat food, however, they are eating less and seem to be in good health. Thx for your help. My best regards for your time and sharing this information. ps i HAVE DROPPED BY FOOD COSTS BY $200 PER MONTH.
Wow!!! That is just AWESOME!!!! Good for you for caring for 48 cats! I’m glad my cat food recipes are useful. Love that your cats are healthy AND you are saving significant money! Thanks for letting me know, Joanna
@JoannaTrautman how much do you think one cat who I adopted and is a very big eater and we better feed him or else,he attacks our feet should have daily plus his dry food? Please and tyvm
PLEASE DON"T LEAVE FOOD IN THE CANNER OVERNIGHT. No, it's not safe to leave food in a pressure canner overnight because the cooling process should not be delayed after processing. The cooling process is important for killing bacteria and ensuring the food is safely canned. If the food is left in the canner, it can slow down the cooling process and allow thermophilic bacteria to grow. This can lead to flat sour spoilage, which can make the food unsafe to eat
I don't like long drawn out videos. BUT I have to say you did great job of explaining everything. Better than some videos I've watched. So I have to say "thumbs up" for sure for this video.
So nice to see this. A few years back I pulled my Roxana female tabby out of stage 3 kidney failure by changing her food to home-cooked organic❤. I now cook for my fur daughter Mariam who is a beautiful blend and was a rescue down in Miami she has been eating home-cooked organic food since she's a pup at 10 weeks old. She's one healthy girl. Your purpose is profound I love it❤ no animals should eat processed food. Human grade food only I'm a big fan of organic. Home cooked is best Namaste everyone
I love that you were able to do so much for your fur babies. I agree that home-cooked is best, and if you can source and afford organic, is always amazing! Thanks for watching and chiming in, Joanna
I didn't grind the bones initially, but in the last three years I've started grinding them and incorporating them. The cats seem to enjoy the food just as well. Hope that helps, Joanna
yes, it works especially for kidney issues.... b/c the canned foods add salt, which neither cats nor dogs can actually taste! all a plot to keep us and our majestic animal relations hooked.
Also the water is so important. Ultra filtered & low to no minerals. Their food has enough. My girls' CKD went away with that and Young Again senior kidney food. Happy for you!
Thank you !!! I am a senior on a fixed income. I had 3 cats and rescued 5 feral kittens. I had them spayed. They still have a shy feral instinct. I am a foster failure !!!! I now have 8 cats
What a find on chicken! Best of success with your cooking adventure. I actually use this cat food as gravy on my dogs' food. It's a bit rich and calorie dense as a solo food, but they love it as an extra added to their basic food! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Even if only 10% of cat food is as fresh as this, you drastically reduce disease. Bravo! Personally, as a hybrid raw/fresh/wet feeder, I don't feed my cats kibble due to the carbs & carcinogenic heating process used to make kibble. Also, careful with too much bone, 10% of the batch weight is the balanced amount. Too much causes constipation. Thanks for the canning tutorial also. Best way to store it, rather than plastic which leaches chemicals into the food. Beef gelatin powder has great benefits to prevent arthritis in cats but also gives the food a pate consistency. ❤ 🐈 ❤
Lately I’ve been struggling financially. I look and look at my budget to find ways to cut it and instead I realize I’ve been spending more and more and more on my cats. But they’re older and they need to have healthy food and I don’t wanna give them cheap dry food. They need something better but it’s so expensive and I’m buying cheap cat food. So thank you for giving me another option
you can also stretch your kibble if you have left over bones like from a chicken. If you boil the bones into a bone broth. The bone broth is filled with minerals, nutrients, fats and protein, you can add the broth to some kibble and make "a kibble strew" I use to feed the neighborhood cats this mixture of kibble, broth, and added a little bit of wet food and mixed it up. The cats all loved it compared to each of the ingredients individually. The kibble absorbs the liquid, so you kitty is getting some fluids but also a "moist" food. My personal cat likes her "Kitty ramen" she's old and doesnt have most of her teeth anymore, but she loves her: Broth+Kibble Broth+ wet Broth+Kibble+Wet Broth+Chicken Broth+Kibble + chicken etc. Chicken paws aka chicken feet, are fairly cheap, and they make a good broth. If you're able to buy chicken just cut out the bones for your cat. I usually save my bones from the chicken thighs and quarters I buy.
Having a background in veterinarian nutrition I can flat out tell you that there is nothing wrong or unhealthy with kibble. You need to look on the bag at the guaranteed analysis to get the mineral and vitamin content (which is the most important thing to make a good selection of kibble). According to the the veterinarians bible for companion animal nutrition (small animal clinical nutrition textbook) for a senior cat you what the proper reference ranges to be in as follows: Protein 30-45%, Calcium 0.6-1.0%, Phosphorus 0.5-0.7%, Fat 10-25% Fiber 0.3%, Taurine 1000-2000 ppm. If you knew everything I know about it you'd realize that you don't need to be looking at foods that are marketed for just senior cats (as a lot of it is just that "Marketing") because some adult foods will work if in these proper reference ranges that I previously listed. Also, the inverse is true for kitten foods as some adult and senior diets will meet their specific requirements. And, finally the mineral profile is the most important thing in cat's in general so your Calcium, Phosphorus and Ca:P is what you need to hyperfocus on.
@@Unknown-hu4gf Veterinary nutrition is processed food plus rancid fats and synthetic vitamins, minerals, and preservatives, guaranteed to bring in a lot of business to the vet. Nobody thrives on processed food. It's ironic that on the rare occasion I bring my raw-fed cats to their clinics, they chide me on my cats' diet while their waiting rooms are full of kibble-fed pets. Industry indoctrination developed to maximize profits for the vets and convenience for the hapless pet parents.
I have a cat, Thomas, who is half way through his 24th year. Right now his primary food is a blend of ground beef, heart, liver and kidney, raw. He is quite spoiled and has gotten very picky but I would like to see him get more variety. Going to give this a try.
@@fancieSdim No recipe needed. I buy it ready to go from U S Wellness meats on line. It is grass fed and finished meats. Occasionally, I feed pureed calf liver and wild caught salmon. The salmon is usually my left overs. I offer a high quality kibble for his snacking but this is more like a treat.
Hi Joanna: A few observations -- all positive. 1. You have a beautiful kitchen. 2. Your kitchen is the size of my NYC apartment (lol). You are so fortunate. 3. I am sure you have been doing this canning for your cats for years. 4. I am also sure you have made every mistake in the book. 5. You are an excellent teacher and thus you have passed on all the reasons to not make the same mistakes. 6. Your effort to keep your cats healthy has (I am sure) saved you a bundle in vet fees 7. What else can I say? This is a PERFECT tutorial and I will strive to emulate you on a much smaller basis. My future cats will be very happy. Thank you so so much for sharing all your knowledge. BRAVA,. BRAVA, BRAVA. P.S.:--- I have subscribed and liked (loved) your content.
@@MHow-qc3ns well, thank you! I just filmed a smaller recipe for salmon cat food that may be simpler to scale down. On the mistakes, I have definitely made my share. Sometimes the best lessons come through them! Thanks for watching and sharing your observations, Joanna
I made this very similar recipe for my dogs for years. My Beagles still ate dry dog foods with some topper of the meat. Then when they were gone, aroundcthe age of 14, I just had my Husky. I took him off dry foods at one and just feed him the rice & chicken mixture and altered with treats of salmon & any meat we had in quantity. He lived to 17 tears and was beautiful!
I’m really appreciative of the time you took to film your whole process. I don’t know how you manage to talk, cook and make a RUclips film at the same time - but I wanted to get all the details of this canning process, so thanks! I’ll leave out the rice and wait to add the taurine for each jar when I take it off the shelf to use it so that its value isn’t destroyed with cooking. I’m trying your recipe this next batch! Thanks!
Sigh… as an animal wellness consultant… this frustrates me. Cats are obligate carnivores… meat eaters with a little bit of grasses and greens. They DO NOT process flax oil or fiber… they do not process wheat anything. Anything resembling a grain (including rice) in their food needs to be over cooked. If you feel you need to add vegetables, grow a flat of barley grass or add peas. Taurine acts much like a b-vitamins and degrades in heat. They does best with raw meat or semi cooked… you cooked that chicken above and beyond the needed time. The raw bones will break up just fine in one of those blenders with a little water in there… and you get the added benefit of sharpening your blades while you’re at it. I could go on and on, but I’m sure this comment is annoying already.
@@llamantia9138 lol… I do have a RUclips channel, but that’s not even close to what it’s about… lol 😉 … look up the book Dr. Pitcarin’s guide to natural health for dogs and cats… it has some great recipes in it.
I agree 100% with you. Keep it natural and simple. I have a cat that grew up with other people. He was used to kibble and those packets of jelly/gravy. It took me a year and now he eats raw fish, any meats, liver and sometimes raw egg. He is thriving. if I may ask a question please, I'm unsure if I must use salt. I do throw in a pinch of himalayan.
When you said you had 13 cats I knew this was meant to be. We also have 13. All rescues & foster fails. Cat food is super expensive and I’m not impressed with how it’s made. I’m excited to try this as I have much of what is needed to do so. The last recipe I saw required a bone pulverizer that was around $600-$700. (It was a raw food diet) Several of my cats won’t eat raw so that wouldn’t work anyway. My cats gather around when I make chicken soup for us and beg for bits so I’m pretty sure this will be a winner. Thanks for the recipe and all of your great videos with your adorable cats!!
Thank you! Cat came in and had 6 kittens. Neighbor bought me 4 more 2 hours later from another litter. That was april. Been spending a fortune. Truly thank you
Thank you, I live on Disability Allowance and it's really very little per week and I have sacrificed huge things in order to spend on cat food. I will try this and see if it works better, because if it does, I will seriously have a jump in quality of life
You are very welcome. I wish you success with it! If your cats are picky gradually introduce the new food by mixing it with the usual. That seems to be pretty successful. Joanna
I am also on disability allowance , and i want to provide the best food for them and i make sacrifices, but to me thats not important, as much as i want them to be healthy and happy, i have been feeding wet cat food, and once a day or less dry cat food, but they are getting sick from the canned and i am starting to cook real meat , chicken breast, so with the money i spend a month on wet canned food, i will use to make my own and it will be about the same if not less and much better for them, i am learning how to do this thanks to you Joanna😊
This. was. perfect! I just needed to learn how to make healthy food for my cats and I ended up learning how to use a pressure canner, insta pot and a blender on steroids! Loved how you shared your past learning opportunities and even general canning tips. I didn't know you were suppose to leave off the rings! First time here and I will definitely be back.
I clicked for the cat food ingredients. I stayed for the canning tutorial. I've been wanting to home can meats/meals for years, but have been too afraid. She was so thorough explaining the process that I feel like I'm finally ready to take the leap from water bathing to pressure canning!!
Cook whole chicken, add apple cider ( avidity to water) vinegar to leach vitamins from chicken, add filtered water about 2 1/2 inches to cook down the bird. 1 pound of white rice soak it for 1/2 hour in filtered water and drain to get rid of arsenic. Add all ingredients in blender. 1 lb of frozen mixed vegetables, 1 cup of flax seed 1/4 cup of wheat bran, 1/2 c Nutritional Yeast, 15 oz can of pumpkin only, 1 TBSP tumeric, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, taurine
I’m glad to see that you are adding the taurine. Taurine is essential for cats and must be included in their wet food - homemade, storebought, or otherwise.
Thank you for your comment. I couldn't understand the word Taurine as she was saying it, as I'm unfamiliar with it. I needed to see it written. Thanks again
Would have loved to see how your cats react to the food, could be a good ending to the video, serving up some of the 1 that didn't seal, kitty food party 🎉 Great job to you both!
I have a cat with kidney problems and I use low phosphate slow cooked muscle meat, from turkey and rabbit. cooked bones is no no for kidney cats. Or meat stuck to boney parts. Chicken gives more heat in the body. And it is a good thing to check what vegetables your cat tolerates before you make a batch, with bio energy medicine and hair analasys. Very important If your cat have stomach issues or allergies.
I buy 3x 30 bags of Friskies 27.98 per bag with 9.5% tax. 3x 12 13 OZ cans approx 13.99 per 12 plus 9.5% tax and one purina 40 can (5.5) 29.00 plus 9.5 tax. I have reduced the dry to 2 bags, 2 x12 13 oz cans and frozen home made (approx 14 lb turkey Honey suckle (.98 /lb) and 10 lbs of thighs about 1.19 with 2.4% tax. spinach 1.98, beans .98 bag, rice etc. I usually get 35 16 oz bags of meat and veggies in light broth and 10 3 oz bags of broth which I add water and use as soup. I put special kitty two cans and then 16 oz home make plus the broth with water over the top. I have reduced the amount of oz I feed and the cats seem to be good. My reduction in cost per month is $250.00. and my vet bills have now reduced with the skin allergy, IBD. I also use horse bedding pellets for litter which has also improved the problems with the cats. Horse bedding is 4.99 for a 40 lb bag.
Yes diatomaceous earth actually cured my German Shepherd from worms. I had tried so many things to get rid of it, even wormwood, but it wasn't until I switched to diatomaceous earth that I was able to get it under control.
Wow, what a kitchen ! And our oven and blender !!!!! Wow! I love the kitchen!!!! Wow wow wow !!!! we don"t have them in Eastern Europe....I tried to prepare cat food, just simple chicken meat with vegetables, without pumpkin or coconut or other exotic ingredients, just regular chicken soup, blended, of course without bones......the disgust on my cats faces! I have 8 and not even one touched it. So, back to boiling fish, chicken and canned food!...my cats told me directly that I am not much of a cook
Just give them your home canned meat without grain and veggies. Open a jar and add cat vitamins, then blend well. Added grains and veggies will overwork the pancreas, leading to pancreatitis, diabetes, and pancreatic cancer.
We have also tried giving our cats fresh chicken or turkey, and they weren’t interested. You would think they would love it! I will think about something like this on a smaller scale.
Great video- I learned so much even though I am an old still working chef. My three kitties are 19/19 and 20. I’ve not blended meat or used the bones (great idea to do so) bc I shred the chicken then use bone broth. and alternately use chopped beef, chicken livers, organ meats, turkey, salmon as well as plain pumpkin and green peas, apple also and eggs I boil and chop. Always serve with a drizzle of coconut oil. Chefs love to chop, lol- it’s a meditative thing and drizzle!) Mine seem to enjoy the variety and textures. I appreciate all of the explanations of how to safely use equipment and the nutritional values of your ingredients. I’ll start adding nutritional yeast❤. You’re an excellent teacher and chef’s kiss for your beautiful kitchen!
I have never watched one of your videos before and I must tell you although I would not be canning, I watched your video in its entirety. Very interesting and informative. You are a very intelligent woman whose mind is always thinking ahead. Very thorough instructions. Thank you.
And its not even canned FOOD. Our food industry has been taken over by mad scientists, greedy corporations and psycho into eugenics. Hope you're making your cats food at home❤
Thank you for this recipe! I recently read the label of the wet food I've been feeding my cats and was appalled. I previously thought a meat grinder was needed to DIY my cat food, so I'm super grateful to find this tutorial!
Are you ladies telling me that I will be continue being boss around by my feral cats? I found three under my deck year and half ago I am a dog 🐕 people. Cat are too fragile and my dogs are not gentle. But since the feral cat moved in they round my house. Especially my three legs cat Gracie. My husband adores her. We were looking for homemade food recipes for cat like I do for my dogs. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with a first time cat mommy.👋👋👋👋
Well, you may be a dog person, but it sounds like those cats have decided that you and your husband are their people. If you ask them, they probably think they aren't "people cats"! Good for you guys giving them somewhere safe to shelter and get food. Glad I could give you some ideas! Joanna
@@JoannaTrautman those three ladies came to our life at the right time. Mom had cancer and the girls followed me every afternoon to mom’s house and little by little the girl started visiting mom without me to the point that they walked in that house and fall sleep on the sofa. Then I received a phone call and mom asked me “ Are you missing something ? Sure enough my girls were MIA. Every night the girl started crying telling me it was time to go home. Mom just laughed and enjoyed having them in that house and telling me everything they did. Sadly mom is not among us she lose the battle against the cancer but I can still hear mom saying “ your new bosses are ready to go home”.
I used to be more of. Dog person too but moved to an area abundant with feral cats and now I'm torn, I love my feral cats. In order to know a cat, you gotta be a cuddler ! Cats are slightly different from dogs and need wet food to hydrate organs otherwise they end up with kidney issues, they also need dry food to keep teeth strong ❤ enjoy your new friends! Welcome to the club!❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this recipe! My vet said my cat would need a special diet from Hill's science that we couldn't afford but this recipe will save us so much and we can add the DL-Methionine for pennies which is the only noteworthy ingredient in the Hill's prescription food that costs over $120 for a disappointing small bag. The Hills C/D uses really questionable ingredients (corn as main ingredient??) for such a high dollar brand like corn and mystery chicken by product. Remember, the FDA said that pet food can be produced from animals that are diseased, dead and decomposing. Seriously look it up it's true and look up how the euthanasia drug is often found in pet foods so think about that how is that getting in there? It has been reported on Mutiple occasions that rendering plans use animals shelters as one of their sources for meat product. Rendering plans are black box. Hill's science has repeated instances of shady behavior, yet they market themselves as this science backed brand, yet all the "science" comes from them directly from researchers they employ. Just look up Hill's Vitamin D crisis, the copper false research paper that was redacted after the science was questioned for lack of honesty, and as recent as this year they're getting sued for fabricating the grain free scare which the FDA has debunked after investigating but not before it crashed the rising popularity that new grain free and independent brands started to build. Surprisingly, Hill's science started the rumor in the first place, and they are the ones who got the FDA to investigate grain free diets. Hill's science specifically got the FDA to investigate only grain free, independent, designer brands that shockingly encompassed everyone but themselves, Hill's claims the cost of the product and the need for prescription (which is absurd there's no reason) comes from the massive amount of money they invest in research to make their food the best and they have to cover that cost in the product. Maybe consumers should get a refund for this science they paid for if some of it was junk. So, we were not excited about our vet wanting us to use a brand that deals in pseudo-science lies and doesn't care about killing pets (look up how they delayed product recall causing hundred if not thousands of pet deaths and costs an absurd amount of money. All while we are barely able to keep the electricity on and the Morgage paid. I was looking through all the options and couldn't find something cheaper. Looking up homemade and raw food led me to RUclips channels promoting raw food delivery (that would cost about the same as my grocery bill!) or a well-meaning pet lover who show how to make a recipe that costs $10 a meal because it's made with only organic products, fresh meat from a butcher, local goat-milk, and a list of expensive supplements. Thank you for realizing the need people have for cheaper options and making this video! I stumbled across it and I am so glad I found it!
Thanks for sharing this video. I think you're on to something in a variety of ways. One huge thing is trust. Trust in what you feed your pet. Food quality and safety. I knew people years ago whose cats were poisoned and died because the (USA and canada) store bought cat food they'd trusted for years had switched to using ingredients from China (or was now manufactured in China) and one or more ingredients had been doctored with some sort of plastic or chemical so it would pass some protein test or something. I recall feeling fearful of owning a cat or a dog again because I believed the propaganda that only store bought food is "safe" for pets. I thought I wouldn't be able to feed the cat or dog an appropriate, safe diet. Videos like yours are vital. I've had to rent for years, unfortunately, and every landlord has had a strict _no pets_ policy. I've also been struggling financially for a long time, so I can't afford vet care, litter, toys, etc for a cat. But, if I'm ever blessed with a cat in my life again, I'm going to make the cat's food. I've saved this video on a couple of my playlists. Thank you.
@ThePrairieChronicles yes its that plastic all the "cheap" plastic plates etc are made of that was in the foods....he ended up having kidney failure...a MADDENING situation. China does a lot of weird stuff to "fake" foods....from years ago. Ugh
I like the food that was made for kitties, but all that canning is way too much trouble in my mind. I have a wonderful vacuum sealer - make a bunch of bags (seal one side of the bag material), add a cup or two of the cat food to a bag and on mine (not sure all vacuum sealers have this) has "wet" and a "pulse" vacuum so I can manually press a button to remove most of the air out without sucking out any of the "wet food" prior to sealing the top. Slap a printed sticker that it is cat food along with the date and then stack the vacuum bags in the freezer. All you have to do is get one or two out at a time, put them in the fridge to thaw and you have your home made food without all the canning. Just my own suggestion, of course.
I cook for small dogs. I use all the fat and fluid from whole chicken in their rice. Rice is also good roughage. They love it mixed with butternut squash or sm am'ts of sweet potato
From Australia 🇦🇺: Hi Joanna, I'm watching your video for the first time and absolutely love what you're doing. 💙 I've also subscribed to make sure I see 👀 🙂 your old and new videos. Thank you Joanna 💙
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have been spending a fortune on high quality(I thought)cat food. Your method is better quality and cheaper! Plus I love to cook and can. Again, thank you! Thunder and Dottie Kitty thank you too.
I am on keto/carnivore and so as my cats. In nature, they only eat meat. That's how it should be. The cat food I buy for them have no carbs nor fillers. I will try your recipe minus the bad stuff I mentioned above. Thank your fo sharing your recipe.❤❤❤
People seem very confused about what the term 'obligate carnivore' means. It doesn't mean they can ONLY eat meat. It means that they need meat to get all their nutrients. They can eat a diet free of grains and still meet their nutrient requirements. But carbohydrate sources are a good source of essential nutrients that aren't present in high in amounts in animal products. Grains are the best source compared to other products like potatoes or peas that are less nutrient-dense. Legumes and pulses have also been associated with a fatal heart disease in dogs and cats. It is also a rich source of fiber which also isn't considered an essential nutrient but provides many benefits. So no, while it isn't necessary, it is best to feed a diet that is inclusive of grains. Here are resources from board-certified veterinary nutritionists and FEDIAF (Europe's pet food safety organization): - vetnutrition.tufts.edu/2021/07/the-role-of-carbohydrate-in-pet-foods/ - europeanpetfood.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/FEDIAF_Carbohydrates-OnlineK.pdf
@carolschedler3832 Thanks for the info, but they don't eat these by nature. 🐈 My cats have no health issue because they eat pure protein as they are intended in nature. 🐈⬛
I appreciate ya for your calming demeanor!!!!! 😌 watched from beginning to end and i feel calmer lol. Ty for explaining how to use a pressure cooker, whole canning process etc
Instant pot won't allow you to open whilst pressurised. The safety features lock the lid. Also L00:00 stands for lapsed time (time since cooking ended). You do not need to switch off keep warm or pressure cancel, keep warm does not kick in until it has completely depressurised. Also you only need 1/2 cup water max for pressure cooking.
While you may be correct on the features and instructions of the pressure cooker;i was using a pressure cooker a few yrs ago and my father, who has a doctorate in law was visiting me. When I told him that I was using a pressure cooker all the time to cook beans, he immediately told me to throw the cooker away- what he said was pressure cookers are extremely dangerous and there have been thousands of lawsuits that companies have hidden from the public of people being severely injured or even unalived by pressure cookers. After this knowledge I wouldn't trust even a hi tech insta pot. Her ensuring the pressure has left the cooker before opening seems fairly intelligent. And would potentially negate any risk of injury if say perhaps if the off mechanism did not work properly or was defective.
@@blueorangeblossom tell me you don't know how they work and are commenting without any research without telling me etc It's a mechanical lock. If there's pressure it cannot open. They are much safer than stovetop ones. Also have a power cut out, pressure sensor and thermostat to prevent overheating, too much pressure and boiling dry which a stove top one doesn't have.
Just ran across this video. I have been making my black Lab pup every meal he's ever eaten homemade. He wouldn't know what a kibble was. I feed a few feral cats outside. I live rural. Point is, I feel really good about cooking for them. It's a lot of work and it is a commitment but it so worth it!
@araeapryal6174 I make a different variant every time. I only wish I had ample access to rabbit and duck! She would probably adore that! Mine is fairly simple. Chicken, or turkey, sometimes ground beef, rice, broccoli, and/or, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, in that wonderful chicken stock. Just anything that is not dangerous for her to consume, (ie., garlic, onions... ). Its pretty simple really. I make about 8 quarts every 4 days. I have 5 strays, 4 kittens, all that seem to live on my property lol. Might be the food right? I'm a softy to their hungry little stares when I go outside. 😢. I live by a very large lake and it seems to be the drop off point of unwanted pets. 😢 But yeah, recipe is simple and human grade.
Great recipe for the cooked portion of a cats diet. I feed my cat 75% raw and 25 % processed. The processed portion is wet food and dry biscuits ( kibble). I will try your recipe as a healthy replacement for the wet food. The oldest and healthiest cats are the ones who have been fed a mostly raw diet. Raw is best as ( firstly it is NATURAL and how they eat in the wild) and secondly no nutrients have been lost in the cooking process - thirdly, the animal is able to receive all the live enzymes that are readily available in raw meats. Cats are fussy creatures by nature so i do incorporate some cooked wet food to mix it up but my intention is to always stick to the 75% raw Rule. This way your cat will ALWAYS be the best they can be. Their teeth, joints coat and organs remain in tip top condition and the lifespan is well into their 20s.
Welcome to my channel! Thank you for chiming in. It sounds like you have found a way of feeding your cats that is working well for you and your feline crew! I love reading things like that. All the best, Joanna
Awesome! Thank you. I don't have a current video - I suppose I could film another, but here is a video of my crew eating my turkey recipe: ruclips.net/video/Mz7L7a1uEtk/видео.htmlsi=xS0fqUR8hzSuuc9q . As my cats are creatures of habit, this is basically what we do every day, but now we have 13, and currently, during the summer months, they dine "al fresco" on the front steps. Joanna
You do such a beautiful job of explaining everything ,I even feel that I could now work my insta pot which is the same as yours ,THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GREAT TUTORIAL ! You’re an inspiration!
I love that I helped you feel more confident in your kitchen! I use my instant pot at least 5 days a week, mostly for various beans and pulses, but I absolutely love it. I'll be posting some videos on "people food" as well! You are very welcome, and thank you for watching, Joanna
This is the most complete and instructional video! Thank you for including all the tips that you have earned with your experience. This is a wonderful recipe . Thank you for all the work you put into making it clear and detailed.❤🎉
Just wow Joanna !!! lol the first video of yours I watched you had 9 cats that was 2 years ago and now you have 13! Are they indoor/outdoor cats 🐈⬛ 🐈 ? Your kitchen is awesome with that center island my goodness I love that space! You must really enjoy your home… it shows ✨💚☘️💚✨
Thank you for this! I no longer have cats but would definitely try this if I did. Thank you as well for explaining the instant pot and pressure canning.
I think you're making your own cat is a terrific idea. My problem is the rice. I've been canning for years and would never add rice to any jar. No pasta or any any type of rice. I'm going to try your cat food, but no rice.
I understand completely. I think your cat food will be great if made without the rice. Rice is a potential risk factor in canning as it can inhibit heat transfer into the center of the food inside the jar. I cook the rice prior to the canning process and use long processing time because of this. The interior of the pressure canner easily achieves the safety zone temperature for destroying bacterial spores (like botulism), but the processing time is what allows the heat to transfer within the jars. Now, in the instance that spores survive the canning process and grow into a bacterial colony that can make people sick, there are signs, like bulging jar lids and foul odor when the jar is opened. Basically, the signs of bad food. This can happen with any foods that you can, and is one of the inherent risks of canning food, period. Again, thank you for watching, Joanna
I’m old. Coconut oil not in my family history. We raised a hog for butchering every year on our family homestead. The best fat for us was lard rendered from the hog, organically raised before anyone labeled it that. Any reason to avoid substituting lard for the coconut oil?
Your comment made me smile. Living in rural Appalachia for the last few years, I do, in fact, have a pretty decent understanding of what you are talking about. What you can purchase in the grocery store is a far cry from the lard you were raised cooking with. I use coconut oil as it is available to me, and has a triglyceride structure I can get behind. That being said, if I were fully homesteading, including raising and butchering livestock like pigs or beef, I would absolutely render and utilize that fat for all sorts of things, cooking, soap, and candles included. I've found single ingredient plant-based products are closer to what they say they are, especially if they are specialty. It's hard to mix in cheap oil to coconut oil - even refined, coconut oil has specific properties that make it solid at most room temperatures and melt rapidly at anything above, unlike butter and most other vegetable fats. I'm not sure if I answered your question, but I hope my comments give you insight into my reasoning! Cheers, Joanna
Just subscribed. This was a wonderful wonderful video. Thank you for showing every single step. I appreciate the advice regarding the pressure canner. I am definitely making this as I have 4 cats and also feed any stays outside. Looking forward to more of your videos. Good job to your camera man as well 😊
I feed 8 cats. 4 seniors 4 roughly 5 year old kitties. Just discovered this channel. Going to try this and report back! Dont have a pressure cooker tho so crock pot or oven bake it is i guess👍😊
Ha! Forget my cats, I would think this recipe is great nutrition for me as well! Outstandingly detailed and well-presented video tutorial. I am 95% carnivore - meow... BTW, I love your kitchen! You've got a new sub & I will recommend your channel.
I appreciate so much you explaining how to work with a pressure cooker. I've never had one and I want to begin canning. Any canning I've done has always been by water bath. I haven't canned for years and now they say a lot of what I want to can needs to be pressure cooked, and I've been intimidated by them. So for you to explain so thoroughly is extremely helpful. Thank you so much. Plus I'm about to bring 5 previously feral cats into my house, so knowing how to make the cat food & what all goes into it & why is also extremely helpful. So thank you so much for making such a thorough presentation.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe--I'm going to do this for my cats. I'm going to freeze the puree instead of can. Food safety experts have found that attempting to pressure can grains and thick purees to be unsafe, as there's no reliable way to ensure even heating (and thus adequate killing of bacteria) throughout the entire jar. Thanks so much for your hard work and generosity in sharing this with us; I know it's going to help so many cats.
Thank you for so much detail using the instant pot, bought the ninja 15 in 1 and it's still in the box I'm scared of it 😂 hopefully now I won't be so scared.
Have courage! Your Ninja is a great appliance! Once you start using it and incorporating it into your routine you will just love it. Pressure cooking is certainly a technique where care needs to be taken, but it is fabulous for saving time and providing consistent results. I use my Instant Pot at least 5 times a week (though usually on human food). I'm so glad my video was helpful! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Don't be scared. (I had mine for a while, too, lol. ) The new ones today have lots of safety measures built in, unlike the steel ones our parents used 😂The two things to remember is Don't force it open and watch out for the steam when you release the pressure manually. Go for it, you will be fine 😊
Thanks for the great video, it makes me less afraid of pressure canning. I use old bath towels, folded lengthwise, on my counters when canning. It gives me a little more room to work.
Hi Joanna! First Time viewer. I’ve canned many things for many years . . But not for my cat. It never occurred to me! Makes perfect sense. Thank you I have learned so much with this video. ❓❓❓Can I precook the rice and just blend it with all the other ingredients before canning? Very nice video. Informative, succinct and feel like I was right there with you ❤️
I'm glad you are successful with the rice. I have never tried to pressure can any rice. All the instructions I've read say it interferes with heat transfer in the jar and other issues. When I make soups and such, I just add the rice when I heat the soup to serve. Thanks for sharing.
Awe, yay! You just made my morning by saying this. Thank you for taking the time to say something positive - it's refreshing, to say the least. Again, thank you! Joanna
Lost my last of 4 cats in January, 2018. This March, 2024 a tenant in my building had a stroke and could no longer take care of her 7 year old cat. The maintenance man kindly asked me if I wanted a cat. I was so grateful that he asked. Unfortunately, this cat is grossly overweight so I remembered your video and watched it again. I will also look at the salmon video. Your kitchen is a sight for sore eyes. What a perfect workshop for a balabusta like you! Again, thank you for sharing all your hard earned knowledge and Shalom
Hello. First time viewer here. I just wanted to thank you for this recipe. I love how you take the time and go into detail with every single step. Much appreciated. Very much worth the time to make the cat food, knowing what's actually in it and knowing it's packed full of protein and nutrition. Also, you have an absolutely beautiful kitchen.❤
Thanks Joanna! I am preparing my first batch today. I just put everything in the pressure canner. Mine was a bit thicker than yours so I hope the kitties will still like it. If not, I am sure my German Shepherd will enjoy it as a topper until I get things right! 😊
I hope it turned out well - this cat food is the most frustrating food I pressure can. If you find a bunch of your jars didn't seal, I would empty the unsealed jars back into the stock pot, add water so you have a more liquid consistency, and then pressure can again. Heaven knows I've had to do that. I agree on your dog enjoying it. I call it "sauce" or "gravy" for my dogs, and they absolutely snarf everything it touches. Best of success, Joanna
Did your cats eat it? I have tried everything under the sun to feed my cats and they just don't want to eat anything the only thing I haven't tried is making my own food I've had other people make it and I've gotten it shipped but my cat won't eat anything he was just diagnosed with cancer so I'm trying to feed him perfectly and go through all that so I'm wondering did your cat eat this?
@@coredadventure1 ohhh… my heart is heavy for you. Watching a pet suffer is terrible. To answer your question, yes, all 13 of my cats absolutely devour this food, but they aren’t picky. What kind of food does your cat actually eat? I developed a salmon recipe that I just released yesterday that a few picky cat testers really love. Any food that you want to introduce may need to be incorporated slowly with already accepted food options. Wishing you the best, Joanna
@@JoannaTrautman thank you for the response Johanna mine used to not be picky I've had them both since they were babies and their 15th their brother and sister they were the only two in the litter and I didn't want to split them up so I took them both and glad I did the female is totally healthy never in any problems but the male like I said he has cancer put both of them have become so dang picky they won't touch anything I give them anymore. I've tried everything I know except for making my own food but yeah they just started being picky in the last year or so yes watching him with cancer has been my worst nightmare it has pretty much ruined my life because it consumes me mentally and emotionally because I care about him so much but he's still hunts and catches thanks but he just doesn't eat it's really strange and crazy
@coredadveture1 have you ever tried baby food like Gerber or Beech Nut-brands? Chicken + chicken broth, turkey + turkey broth, beef + beef broth, and ham + ham broth. Each of the four types mentioned above, comes in a 2.5 oz (71 g) glass jar and there are no other ingredients. I have been feeding this to my cats for over 27 years as a (supplemental treat food only.) My 19 year old female Ragdoll developed mouth cancer at the palate oral cavity. This food was an absolute Godsend for her- as she did not want to be put down! Plus her veterinarian said she was not in any pain so I decided too let her tell me when she was ready to be put down. One late morning 6 1/2 months later she was finally ready to go so I put her in my arms as I always have and into the car we went straight to her vets office. As I held her in my arms just like you would hold a baby she went to sleep. It was so peaceful and beautiful 😇. I truly didn’t even realize that she had passed away until they told me minutes later. Please note: I did not keep her just on the baby food only. I also brought a big 32 ounce bottle of liquid multivitamin for dogs and a 16 ounce bottle of the best omega-3 fish oil I could find at the time. Also I bought the (“Now” brand Taurine pure powder 8 ounce bottle made in America then), but I’m pretty sure it’s all made now in China, which is ok, Don’t sweat that. Plus a human probiotic capsule that is divided into four servings. There was not a lot of information to go on back then for Cats so I had to improvise! I took a whole chicken and steamed it for a few minutes, enough to where I could separates the meat from the bones. After it cooled, I separated the meat from the bones. Then I put the bones into a pressure cooker-for over an hour and a half, till the bones disintegrated between my fingers! (Like mush.) This step is very important!-as well as incorporating the Oregon meat, like the chicken hearts, gizzards and liver at the same time you cook the chicken meat. Must incorporate that as well. Then grind all ingredients together and serve 😻. I truly wish you and your fur baby all the best there is. If there’s anything I can add-please ask and I’ll keep checking back here. Promise 😍🥰
She's so right about the best parts of chicken! I wouldnt add rice for cats, but maybe its ok with keeping all the broth. I commend her for making it herself. I did Raw chicken thighs with bones (ground for inside feeding, whole for outside feeding its good for them, but messy) & supplemented w vits, liver & heart. 3 healthy happy long living cats (19-23). Loved their food, never threw it up, no stool issues, no behavior issues, beautiful coats and perfect weight. No kidney disease! No vet visits. Doing dog diet w my 1st dog. When I rescued her she was a stubborn overweight heart/kidney problems, arthritis suffering little old lady dog. She dropped 1/2 her wt in under a year & is spunky now. She's fed 30% raw organs, raw liver, raw chicken bones with some meat or ground egg shells, toasted pumpkin seeds wout shell (for digestion), fruit, veggies. 70% chicken leg/thigh/wings, pressurized (frozen to done in 40 mins). Once a week oily fish/sardines in oil, pumpkin, oats, multi vitamin powder. Natural biscuit treats, occassional pig ear. No kibble. I make up & freeze the 30% in weekly batches. The 70% just do as needed. She got 2% of her body wt in food at first, stepping down over 4 months to 2% of her target body wt. She hasn't complained a bit. Highly appreciative. Highly recommend the effort. Isn't expensive, especially getting organ meat at asian market & chicken on sale. I'm lower income. Heck, I eat better now. I enjoy the task and love watching my dog wag her tail and make choices as she's eating. She has a pep in her step flopping her ears on walks. Sweet lttle girl has a 2nd wind for sure.
Ha! Thank you, and you are most welcome. My cats really do go insane, so I tend to clean up the kitchen before I let them near the kitchen. However, maybe I will film it soon. It’s certainly entertaining!
I have really enjoyed your video. Your kitchen is beautiful! And you work on cars! Also you try to save as much as you can. In so many cooking videos they leave so much in the pans/bowls. I appreciate your thriftiness. Thank you for the cat food recipe.
Its funny i almost didn't watch because of the length of the video (i was just looking for a recipe) but i noticed the video clip you pressure canned the cat food. I love to can and thought how brilliant, i will get the recipe and fast forward through to get the canning time/pressure. I watched every bit. You are a great teacher! Thanks, subscribed, liked and excited to check out your channel. God bless you and your family!!!
@@aprilcoolley4918 , welcome! I love that you found this video helpful. I am definitely a longer form lesson instructor - I don’t like the idea of losing someone because I skipped a step. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Thankyou for this recipe and information. Appreciate the time you have put into showing others how to feed there kitties a better diet! What size instapot are you using?
How much pressure for how long to can? Sorry - couldn't understand due to sound.... Re: carnivore - I do understand the purists who want only meat products if their income allows it. But for us who have so many strays due to crazy local laws, no city assistance, and lazy citizens, we on already very low incomes are trying to fend off their starvation and ours as well. Straight dry food dooms their kidneys, so having this as a substitute gives them better food allowing we cat ladies to still eat and pay our electric bills.
tysm for this, what a blessing to find you. Ps Even dryers have a countdown to cool, I think it is horrid that manufacturers make this without. And not a word or image on the cover to warn. Explosions, injuries, losing food. ANYWAY, thank you again!!🥰
Toe, If I may, 75 minutes pressure cooking is for RAW meat, not meat that's already been cooked in instant pot. There's a lot of bad info in this vid, sorry.
I have to tell you, I made this twice and my cats hated it. The local feral cats loved it but not my beasts no 😂. I made one batch with chicken eggs pumpkin green beans and tuna ( 👎) and one batch without the fish as I suspected they didn’t like it (but also 👎). I’m still going to try other recipes as they seem to prefer the meat flavours of canned cat food.
My cat is picky but when I rescued I made a chicken soup the cats loved it this one will not eat chicken but loves fish and shrimp won't eat certain fish or crab either but eats a little avocado
Thank you for making this awesome, informative video! I will try your recipes. I cook for my dog, so I hope my cat will appreciate and like this. He is really picky and has me well trained! 😊
All I can say is that cats seem to have been forced to change so much, even their digestive system If not, they would not have survived. What I mean is, they can tolerate and even use vegies and such, they are carnivore quasi obligate because of human interfering. I haven't seen studies on longevity based on 100% carnivore, etc. BUT, I will use less plants, and more livers, just my preference. Oh, and bones, ground to almost dust. Got a special grinder just for them!
New to your channel Thank you I have never canned before but i do own a few accessories and enamel on steel stock pot which also came with some canned accessories but was always to scared to try and you explained it wonderfully. I will take that plung. I'll also make a puppy dog food aswell 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤ again thank you ❤
Well, sounds like you are set up for water bath canning which is perfect for pickles, salsa, jams, etc. If you don't have a pressure canner, I have a video where I freeze the cat food. Best of success, Joanna
I noticed the same behaviors with my cats, so it got me researching. It's true that genetically cats are carnivores, like the big cats, but what research is showing is cats have microorganisms living in their guts just like we do. Their gut microbe populations shift based on what they eat, and the microbes actually digest the plant foods and pass along nutrients through the villi in the intestinal wall to the cat's bloodstream. Cool stuff! Thanks for chiming in, Joanna
If you wipe your rings down with mineral oil they wont rust up. After the canning process when I remove the rings I dry them then I use a paper towel with some mineral oil on it and put them away.
Yes, obligate carnivores so they need organ meats too
Many 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐈❤️🐈⬛
Yes, cats are obligate carnivores.
Still, the ingredients are human grade, and that’s better than the majority of mass produced pet foods…
I make raw to lightly cooked, human grade food for my cats (and one dog).

Did you grind the bones into your cat food as well??

My cat loves pate. I will have to try adding in the beef gelatin. Could you please tell me at what step should I add that in. Thank you!
Where would you buy beef gelatin?
@@donnagarner6007 On line or it's the same thing as Knox gelatin in the stores. It's cheaper bought in bulk.
You are very welcome.
you can also stretch your kibble if you have left over bones like from a chicken. My personal cat likes her "Kitty ramen" she's old and doesnt have most of her teeth anymore, but she loves her:
Broth+Kibble
Broth+ wet
Broth+Kibble+Wet
Broth+Chicken
Broth+Kibble + chicken etc.
@@Unknown-hu4gfyou are joking.

THANKS!!❤

(It was a raw food diet)
Several of my cats won’t eat raw so that wouldn’t work anyway.
My cats gather around when I make chicken soup for us and beg for bits so I’m pretty sure this will be a winner.
Thanks for the recipe and all of your great videos with your adorable cats!!
Awww! That’s fantastic. I’m glad I could help. It’s amusing when cats start begging!
Wow we have 13 also! 😂 We have 2 more that only come for visits in the summer 🤷🏻♀️ I’m guessing their family keeps them in durning the winter.
@@MissyDelorme you are so very welcome. I wish you every success! Joanna
This. was.
Your camera person is really good at their job!
You just made his day! I just told him and he was grinning ear to ear when he said, "Yeah, baby! Someone finally called out my work!"

Would have loved to see how your cats react to the food, could be a good ending to the video, serving up some of the 1 that didn't seal, kitty food party 🎉
Great job to you both!
i agree!!
13 Kitties? Are you a voluntary rescue? WOW. Good on you!!
Horse bedding is 4.99 for a 40 lb bag.
diatomaceous earth (food grade) is also highly nutritious. Can be used for flea control as well.
Fascinating. I'll have to dig into that a bit more! Thanks for sharing, Joanna
DE for internal parasite removal. Buy Food grade. also use for humans.
We add it to our raw meat cat food to prevent intestinal parasites.
Yes diatomaceous earth actually cured my German Shepherd from worms. I had tried so many things to get rid of it, even wormwood, but it wasn't until I switched to diatomaceous earth that I was able to get it under control.
DE is good for so many types of pets as well as drying my cement barn floor !
@@judyd5681 Hi! What brand of cat vitamins do you use? Thanks.
Only you don’t have a kitchen like this
We have also tried giving our cats fresh chicken or turkey, and they weren’t interested.
Thank you.
Thank you! I feed 10 cats 10 cans per day so it's very expensive to buy enough cat food.
Wow! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching, Joanna

Thank you.
Bless you. I shall pray that your wish is granted.
@@Jentalks380 Thank you.

@@melanieleon3070 Oh! I'm SO sorry about Minky! That's awful!
Agreed. I just put in jar & froze, but like the vacuseal idea a lot. Good one.
I cook for small dogs. I use all the fat and fluid from whole chicken in their rice. Rice is also good roughage. They love it mixed with butternut squash or sm am'ts of sweet potato

How much does it cut the cost for you over the exp cat food?
I thought this too, but learned that In the wild, they do enjoy the stomach contents of the prey - which can include grains and veggies.
@carolschedler3832 Thanks for the info, but they don't eat these by nature. 🐈 My cats have no health issue because they eat pure protein as they are intended in nature. 🐈⬛
Yeah very small anounts@@carolschedler3832
Stomach contents of prey would be a negligible amount.
@@blueorangeblossom tell me you don't know how they work and are commenting without any research without telling me etc
It's a mechanical lock. If there's pressure it cannot open. They are much safer than stovetop ones. Also have a power cut out, pressure sensor and thermostat to prevent overheating, too much pressure and boiling dry which a stove top one doesn't have.
@@blueorangeblossom Your father has given you wrong advice. The Insta Pot is safe. Maybe cookers in his generation were sometimes unsafe.

Remember canning over a firepit growing up. This brought back so many memories
How do you make you pup food? I feed my black lab, he is 2, Acana and a lot of raw duck, rabbit, chicken. I still worry about the kibble
So happy to have found out about your channe! Thank you Joanna for sharing these recipes, much respect and love from Rome, Italy🙋🏻♀️ 🐱
Wow! You are very welcome. Many thanks for watching from rural Kentucky, Joanna

Good job to your camera man as well 😊

you say "turmeric" the same way I do. Subbed! lol :) (And I LOVE the cat food recipe as well of course!)
Just downloaded the recipe, thank you. Have many outside cats that I used to feed wet food, but got too expensive. Thinking of trying this.
Excellent! Best of success with the recipe. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Freezing will work great! I have a video on that storage method as well.
Don't be scared lol.... Just Open, Open, Open... And life gets easier!!!! 💯
What an EXCELLENT video, your explanations are so thorough, thank you very much! Your kitchen is beautiful, too!
At first I was amazed at how shiny your kitchen oven was....then you mentioned 13 cats which is more amazing!
@@erickamarsh3327 hah! Thank you. The cats have shown up over the years and added themselves to the family. ❤️
I took a whole chicken and steamed it for a few minutes,
enough to where I could separates the meat from the bones.
I was hoping for a taste test. Lol
This was a great Home Ec class! Thank you! I was missing the cat reaction at the end.
Ha! Thank you, and you are most welcome. My cats really do go insane, so I tend to clean up the kitchen before I let them near the kitchen. However, maybe I will film it soon. It’s certainly entertaining!
YOU HAVE A FABULOUS CAMERA PERSON.
@@MargoLanding-it8qb I will let him know! Thank you!
So happy I found your channel - also thank you and much love in advance from Maisie & Daisy 😻
Joanna .u have the most AMAZING KITCHEN!!! SO LUCKY!!!! THANK U FOR SHARING ALL OF THIS!!!!
You are so very welcome. Thank you! Joanna
You may know a lot about food borne illness but I've been feeding raw food to cats since 1994 and I kiss the cats on the mouth.
ON THE MOUTH????

Thank you for the deemo! Reminds me of what my mom used to do.
Homemade is good stuff. You are very welcome!
I have seven cats when I bring a rotisserie chicken in the house they all start purring
Ha! I bet they do. 😻
Taurine is definitely needed
Thankyou for this recipe and information. Appreciate the time you have put into showing others how to feed there kitties a better diet! What size instapot are you using?
You are very welcome. It’s my pleasure. I’m using a 6 quart Instant Pot. Thanks for watching, Joanna

Hi Joanna
What would this process be with a regular stove top pressure cooker?
Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
@@jude7321 watch my turkey cat food videos (2 part series). I cook the turkey down on the stovetop in that one. Thanks, Joanna
She pressed the poultry button and set it for 65 minutes.
tysm for this, what a blessing to find you. Ps Even dryers have a countdown to cool, I think it is horrid that manufacturers make this without. And not a word or image on the cover to warn. Explosions, injuries, losing food. ANYWAY, thank you again!!🥰
I’m looking for How long to process pint jars. 10lbs, 75min. Found it! Thank you!
Glad you found it! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Toe, If I may, 75 minutes pressure cooking is for RAW meat, not meat that's already been cooked in instant pot. There's a lot of bad info in this vid, sorry.
I rescue kitties and it’s a struggle 😢thank you for this
Thank you I learned so much about cat’s nutrition & much better how to save $$$
@@erodgz1563 you are very welcome! Thanks for watching, Joanna
I learned ALOT here.Im a lefty too.Luvved this video.ty.❤
Love it! Glad I could help! Thank you for watching, Joanna
Lol 😂
My cat is picky but when I rescued I made a chicken soup the cats loved it this one will not eat chicken but loves fish and shrimp won't eat certain fish or crab either but eats a little avocado
I love your content. I need to do this for my fur babies 😻
Well, thanks for letting me know! Good luck with your fur babies! Joanna
The comments about the carbs and veg make me laugh. A cat visits my garbage and compost every day. He seems fine 😂
Boy🥰🥰🥰🥰 I’m glad I found your beautiful video…. Where I been?
I learnings how to do pets food 🥰🥰🥰
Sometimes I treat my kitty with creamed corn. That’s it…once in awhile,. Exclusively meat.
If you wipe your rings down with mineral oil they wont rust up. After the canning process when I remove the rings I dry them then I use a paper towel with some mineral oil on it and put them away.
