Oh, pumpkin helps the belly too. I didn’t watch the whole video before I gave you a comment but yes, pumpkin is great for diarrhea and her stomach. That’s what I’m gonna add in for my dogs, chicken legs and my cat. This is great. I love watching her she does some good stuff.

I personally feed raw meat but I have only love for anyone who make cooked diets and avoid processed food. I'm not sure why some people are so upset about cooked diets, raw does not work for everyone, their location, their family or their comfort zone. This is a very good video, ignore any negative comments, as they will always be there. We had 5 cats when I lost my wife, 11 years ago. One lived to age 20, her sister to age 18. I am down to one left, but have never stopped searching for healthier ways to feed them. I am going to try a scaled down version of this, or the chicken recipe. I need to start small, to confirm my baby girl will like it. Thanks for taking the time to post this, I know it is a lot of work.
Awesome! I'm so glad you're going to give this a shot! Don't forget, she may like dark meat chicken, even if turkey isn't a huge success. A couple of my female cats are a bit ambivalent about turkey, but they absolutely scarf chicken. Thanks for watching, Joanna
I just found whole turkey on sale for $0.69/lb, so I came online to check the nutrition and found your wonderful video. I do a similar homemade cat food with whole chicken. I roast a couple of chickens and a bunch of thighs, then after removing the meat, I throw the carcasses/bones and pan drippings into the instant pot, adding water to cover. I pressure cook for two hours, at which point many of the smaller bones just squish between the fingers. The epiphyses (knobby ends) of the larger bones are also soft, and I pinch them off, then scoop as much of the marrow out as possible from the larger, more brittle femurs. I put the brittle bone shafts back in the broth and add a package of hearts and gizzards, plus whatever organs came with the birds and about a cup of pre-soaked (overnight) millet (to mimic what might be in a bird or rodent prey's stomach), and pressure cook for another 30 minutes. I discard anything still brittle, then throw all the softened bones, a couple of hearts and gizzards into a blender with some of the broth and liquify. I chop the remaining hearts and gizzards, and all the rest of the meat. I steam-scramble 6-8 eggs with a few chicken livers, then mix everything in a huge dish pan (saved only for cat food prep!) I sometimes add freshly baked or canned pumpkin, and sometimes some cooked lentils (my boy loves lentils, little weirdo!) Then I fill about a hundred+ of these little rectangular food storage containers I got from Dollar Tree, and I've got about 4 months worth of single-serving meals prepped SUPER CHEAP! I alternate morning/evening meals with high-quality Ziwi brand canned food, and once a week he gets homemade fish-head stew (that is NOT FUN to make, I do it in a giant crockpot set on the patio outside, and have to use bare hands to seperate meat (and eyeballs, his fave) from a thousand seperate SHARP skull bones, but also very cheap and SUPER nutritious!)
Gosh I would love to do this but I feed about 30 ferals everyday. I am going to start incorporating some home cooked a few nights a week. Might even start on Sunday. I am concerned about the bones. Can I just do bone broth? Same nutrients?
@@chasethecat3839 good for you, feeding those cats. Bone broth isn’t quite the same, but still nutritious. Bone broth is the liquid that you cook everything down in, but the bones are physically removed prior to storage or serving. You may want to watch my turkey cat food videos, as I use a blender to incorporate the bones. You can use the same technique with chicken bones. Thanks for watching!
@chasethecat3839 I usually roast all of my meat (with a few cups of water in the pan), then remove all of the meat. I put the bones/carcass plus the pan liquids in the Instant Pot and top off with water. I cook for a few hours on high pressure, and the bones mostly turn to mush. I can pinch the ends off the femurs, and if the shafts are still at all brittle, they go back in the pot for another hour. Then bones, cartilage, epipheses, and broth go into the blender. I used to have my stepmother's Vitamix that quickly reduced it all to a soft slurry, which got poured into the minced meat. When I'm doing several whole chickens plus a couple of trays of thighs, I don't add every bone. I'll do as above, but discard the brittle femur shafts after pinching off the epipheses (ends) and scraping out some marrow. There's plenty of calcium and minerals from all the smaller bones, ribcage & spines/necks. I also look for big packages of chicken feet, which make an incredibly nutritious bone broth due to all the cartilage and collagen. They can be boiled or pressure cooked, then blended.
Great videos and recipes! The only thing I would add to the process is this: once all the meat is removed from the chicken or turkey, break the set-aside, remaining bones and RETURN these to the broth pot; and simmer the broth for an additional hour or so. This releases the last of the marrow into the broth and enriches the final product and the flavor. Then just pour the broth into a sieve (held over a large bowl or pot) to remove all of the bones and dispose of these. Then proceed with the process of adding back the meat and adding the rice and veggies for the final simmer

@@Sasa-pm7jcI just watched the canned chicken cat food video and the one lady in the comments said she's saved 200.00/month by feeding this woman's canned cat food for the 48 ferals she feeds. Hope that helps.

The stray cat I’ve been feeding since last winter through spring, brought me her kittens few weeks ago. Bought them all the cat food they need and more but it’s very expensive, especially the treats and I decided to add home made cat food with their regular bought food to their diet. Made it yesterday and they love it. Used chicken thights and wings, boiled them for hours till they fell off the bones, separately salmon and some other type of fish, pumpkin and rice. For liquid I used the chicken broth. In the morning when they came to my home one kitten went straight to the bowl where the home made cat food was in even though it was a hard lump for being all night in the fridge, he kept trying to eat it the best way he could. Hours later they came back to my home and ate everything was left. Thank you for sharing the recipe and so many great tips, you inspired me to be a better cat mom while also saving money. God bless!
Oh wow, Veronica, that’s awesome! I’m glad I could help! Love that you’re helping out some critters that sounded like they could use the hand. Best of success, thank you for watching, and thank you for letting me know of your successes! Cheers, Joanna
Thank you, I too do have 8 cats and have been feeding them a mix of home cooked and raw food. So all the extra knowledge and tips and tricks are very welcome and appreciated ❤
You are amazing for wearing gloves and taking raw meat seriously! Ive seen people wear rings while touching meat and cutting it, then grabbing the seasoning without washing their hands first!!!! I stopped watching them right away. But wow you are so incredible, so clean and smart. I love it, I subbed!! ❤
I’ve been feeding a raw diet to all my cats and one dog. I do include liver but cook it VERY thoroughly. No veggies, no carbs of any kind. Coming up on eight years and all are doing great! Thanks for sharing with all of us. I know many people side- eye raw diets, so this is perfect for them 😊 I searched for more cooking videos. Are you using other platforms?
I prefer feeding my grandson Vexna ( He's my daughter only child and he's a cat) cooked food, we read somewhere that humans began to evolved once they discovered fire and started cooking their foods. No Cats are Not human but what could it hurt.? Great video!
I have 2 cats at home but never thought in a million years I could make home made cat food . I’m going to give this a try as soon as I gather all my ingredients. I also am not keen on giving my kitties raw food. They’re not out in the wild fending for themselves 😅
Yes, I make my dogs food and my cat too and that nutritional used my dogs love it. I guess I should put some in with the cat too. I didn’t think of that. Thanks for the video you’re awesome.😁👍❤️
18:20 - that is TONS of rice, remember it's 150g carbs in 1 cup, so you are adding 600 - 1200g carbohydrates for 1000g protein (whole turkey). Plus pumpkin, green beans - your wet food has MORE carbs than protein.
Hi glad I found you!! Looking to do homemade meals for my precious Valentino (Persian). Your cats are gorgeous!!!! Hope to view more of your cat recipes. Subscribed 👍😍
Just a quick heads up that Part 2 finally finished processing and went live a moment ago. Let me know how you do with it and if I can answer anything further as you go. Joanna
I have a crock pot that fits a whole chicken I use over night, then unplug when I wake up, let it sit then remove the bones when I get home from work. (dog food)
She srsly deserve a million praise for her research. What she say its absolutely right and based purely on scientific research. Even my vet dont advice raw diet simply because zero peer reviewed paper suggest it is more superior than cooked diet and raw diet are indeed more prone to bacteria
I've read that cooking meat such as raw hearts and other organ meats for your cat destroys taurine levels dramatically. Feeding it to them raw does not. What are your thoughts on this?
I’m Glad you mentioned not feeding them the liver, as I was just thinking I would introduce my 7 month old kitties to chicken liver. Very informative video, thanks😻
I’m happy to pass along what I learn from the various research papers I combed through! Thank you for watching, and all the best with your cats! Joanna
I can't wait for part 2. I have been waiting for a good cooked cat food recipe and I love the way you explain everything. I have been trying to switch to a better cat food buying those more expensive brands that they won't touch. Thank you.
I love it, Debbie! Thank you for the feedback. And yes, I certainly understand the reasons for switching. As for part 2, it's now live. Not sure what took so long on the processing, but it's up. Please let me know on there what you think and if you have any questions. Thanks again! Joanna
@@JoannaTrautman I just found part 2, love it. I am getting all of the ingredients today. One question, what is the size of the pot the turkey is cooking in?
OK - so here's the deal. That is a 24 qt commercial stock pot (it is available anywhere that sells commercial cookware), and the strainer was originally from a turkey fryer pot of the same volume (I actually scrubbed through that turkey fryer pot - it was a disappointment, but the strainer is great.) If you don't have a stock pot that big, I wouldn't go out and get one just for this unless you regularly cook for large groups (canine, feline, and/or human) - it is a huge piece of cookware. You have a few options: 1) a smaller pot - this turkey will fit in a 16 qt, but the turkey must rest on its end 2) roast the bird at 375 F for 4 hours or so to get the bird at least partially cooked - you will complete the cooking process in the boiling part to prepare the bones for pureeing. At this point the bird is much easier to separate into pieces that will easily fit in a smaller pot, just make sure to save all the juices from the roasting pan and add those to the pot as well. 3) Cut up the raw turkey - removing the legs, thighs, and wings should be enough to get it into a smaller pot. I hope this helps! Joanna
Thank you so much. You’ve explained it all so well. Very much appreciated this. I’m trying to make their food but there’s not a lot information out there like yours. You are amazing. Thank you so very much 👏😘🦋💕🐱
I just re-read your comment and wanted to say thank you again. It's comments like yours that make me want to keep up the cooking videos. I understand how frustrating it is to piece together so many fragments of information and this is my way of helping as it can be daunting. That said, Part 2 just went live and you should stop reading this comment and watch that instead. :)) Again, thank YOU so very much! Joanna
Those little precious babies lined up that staircase was the cutest thing I ever saw. What time of the day do you feed your kitties and how much for a 10 lb cat? This is the first time I've had an indoor cat, always cats in the barn though, just outside, so I don't know how much to feed him . They mostly hunted for their food. Theo thinks he's supposed to eat all the time! Poor baby. You're such a fun person, you make me happy. God bless you Jude, from Kentucky ✝️🐴🌱🇺🇸
I think you’re awesome. I’ll cook for my dogs and my cat too. I think this is awesome you’re special lady. Love you girl you love your cats your special you’re beautiful.🥰❤️
Can you put apple cider vinegar in the bones to get the nutrience out of the bones... I am going to try Turkey necks as we don't have turkeys until december. .❤❤❤
My cat specialist vet is 100% against a raw food diet. She has treated far too many cats with food poisoning from raw food. Also FYI, there’s a large pumpkin farm in my town. They mostly grow pumpkins for Halloween, but they also grow for Libby. Libby canned pumpkin is, in fact, butternut squash.
Poor cats! I’ve read about the Libby canned pumpkin - it’s in the squash family, but it sure doesn’t look like the pretty orange pumpkins we decorate with! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Just found your channel and I love it! Found 5 kittens and I have been feeding mother and all. Can't afford wet cat food. I'm spending way out of my budget. On your chicken video can you quesstamate about how many 5.5 oz cans your recipe would translate to?
Hello Joanna I am new to your channel and I am liking what I am seeing so far:-) Do you know which nutrients get cooked out? Wondering if supplemental drops can be used?
Wouldn't it be easier to roast the turkey, then mix water in the drippings and cook everything in the roasting pan? It would be easier to remove the meat and isolate the bones to ground, and then add it to the pan with the liquid too. Plus if you're using it to mix the mash up, it would save on dishes.
This inspired me to make my own cat food at home. However, her method was way too messy and complicated for my brain. I make mine with organ meats, salmon and a few simple ingredients in about 5 minutes. I use coconut oil, raw egg, toasted and ground egg shells. I also supplement with a good grain free dry kibble.
Your recipes are great and its obvious you have done a lot of time consuming and good research. Do you have any boneless recipes with eggshell calcium for senior cats? I have two senior cats that I want to start reducing the phosphorus content of their food to help protect their kidneys. The high phosphorus content of bones adds to kidney problems but the manufactured diets for CKD cats are expensive and not that good. ( I have lost two elderly cats to kidney disease and they were both on commercial wet canned food) I currently use Alnutrin completer with eggshell calcium because I am making small batches for four cats to make sure their food meets the AAFCO nutrient standards but am researching how to do it by purchasing my own supplements. There isn't a lot of information for low phosphorus diets for senior cats available.
Hi I’m new to your channel and I like your recipes this is something I’ve been wanting to do for my cats but I need to get all the ingredients so I can get started hopefully. I do wish however, that you would link where you get your nutritional yeast please. I would like to order some 👍🏼And if it all possible I would appreciate if you could link where you get your other ingredients if it’s not too much trouble. Thank you for the recipes and the videos you put out very informative and your cats definitely love it so that’s enough proof for me.Thank you for your help and also for sharing your knowledge with us.👍🏼🤗
Thanks for watching and reaching out! I will see what I can do for linking a “shopping list” for the turkey and chicken cat foods. Good idea! Cheers, Joanna
That’s possible! I get mine on Amazon. You can supplement this recipe with taurine, but these recipes have adequate taurine in them due to the organ meats and dark meat turkey and chicken. (I see you found the turkey cat food video on your own!) Good luck with your cooking venture! Joanna
Hi, thank you so much for your videos they are amazing and very helpful. My cats just started a raw food diet and they are not doing good. I am switching them over to cooked food tomorrow. I loved your chicken recipe but this recipe seems to have many more nutrients so I was wondering if I can do this recipe step by step but using whole chickens instead of one whole Turkey? Thank you!!!
Yes, you can. it will just be smaller. The overall nutrient profiles are similar, but turkey trends higher in taurine per lb than chicken. It should still be adequate levels without additional supplementation, however. Best of success with your feline friends... Thanks for watching, Joanna
Thanks . My cat Lily never ever went on the kitchcounter or table. I never trained her not to jump on the counter or tables she trained herself. I got her as a tiny kitten. She is 16 now I am happy . I am trying to cook for her , she has problems throwing up . She ate only purina vet diet essential care in cans, but she throws up all the time, I changed food, but no good result . The vet doesn't seem to know what ailing her , only expensive diagnostic, blood work and xrays, etc, but no cure 😢.
My 4 years old cat has had the same issues, throwing up (everyday a few times) within sometimes one minute after she finished her Fancy Feast food (this is her main food) or Friskies. Especially, when wet food is eaten together with dry food (she does not chew her food, swallow the whole piece of dry food). I am swithching her to baby foods (turkey in gravy, chicken in gravy) and human's light tuna in water (mix tuna with the baby food turkey or chicken). Sometimes, I mix no more than half of her portion with the canned food and she seems to be ok but no whole piece dry food (I grind them up and sprinkle very little only once in a while on her food). No throwing up almost 5 days in a row, which is amazing.
Thank u for your videos . I have 3 cats of my own and every one always say to me..they are so fat what are u feeding them?..one of my cats really is really heavy and she's older now about 9 yrs 10 yrs old...every since I got her fixed she gained so much weight.well I'm worried about her .I am so blessed to have u on here showing and explaining how to make this healthy food...thank you so much.i just have to ask u ...how come the chicken ingredients are diffrent then the turkey..u add more to the turkey..I'm just curious.. thank u again for taking the time to share the videos with us.
Good question! The ingredient list is longer because I learned more great ingredients that can be incorporated. You can use chicken in the turkey recipe as well, just do the meat quantity by weight.
thank you. question you have mentioned you can add dried cat food and fresh food. what kind of dried food do you buy? there are so many out there. Which one is healthier without costing a lot! thank you.
I was SO excited to make this for my kitties! I thought it was pretty straight fwd so all Gung-Ho, I did so from memory (staring with a 12lb bird) Somehow I only ended up with 21.5 cups 😬 Idk what I did wrong (did not use) bones but thought it would make a lot more! Now I'm questioning how much I should be feeding them....wondering if the calories are more concentrated? Currently they are 100% wet food at about 1.25 (5.5oz) cans per day each. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you!
It is a Vitamix, but the 5300. I've had it for several years, and use it daily for various projects. I've burned up the motors in a few other consumer-grade blenders, and this one has held up well. thanks for watching, Joanna
Ok one more comment.. Lol..pumpkin seeds ,ground up, are very good for cats too!! They actually will paralyze any intestinal Parasites ur cat may have..they wil..let go of any intestinal walls and be flushed out!! Its another ingredient I add to the feral cats food! And since I've been doing all of this. I have never lost a cat to disease or have to treat any for parasites!!! I am excited to make this recipe ...and add some of the things I mentioned for the ferals!!
Do u use diatranaceoys earth at all? It kills parasites. I also use colloidal silver and some of the ferals have made amazing turnarounds with eye infections m, colds etc.
Just watched your chicken cat food vid and you stated not to use seasonings especially salt. In this vid I believe that was a brined turkey. Fresh turkey contains about 55 mg of sodium per a 4 ounce serving. The turkey in this video I believe has a sodium content close to 4 times that for a 4 ounce serving. What would you say is the sodium content of each portion you feed to each cat daily for this preparation?
Johanna, why you are adding extra ingredients (eggs, wheat germ, nutritional yeast, green beans) to this turkey recipe as opposed to your previous chicken recipe?
Good question. This particular formula is more than adequate in taurine and other micro nutrients, but if you don't feel comfortable, feel free to supplement, as most of the micronutrients (like taurine) will be excreted through the urine. Thanks for watching and chiming in, Joanna
The heart and the dark meat. not the light meat. she said if you use turkey or chicken you do not need to supplement the taurine. if you use any other meat like beef or pork you need to supplement the taurine
I think I say in the video, but that bird is probably around 14 pounds. I order supplements like taurine online as I live in a rural area. Thanks for watching, Joanna

Thank you, I too do have 8 cats and have been feeding them a mix of home cooked and raw food. So all the extra knowledge and tips and tricks are very welcome and appreciated ❤
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching, and best of success with your cats, Joanna
All the cats barreling out the door was so funny
Every day. They do the same thing EVERY DAY!!! They crack me up.
I love how they ran from that door! They knew mama threw down in that kitchen!! This was awesome. Please keep the videos coming 🙏🏼 ☺️💞
Awww! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Thank you! Food safety is a real concern, and raw meat is one of the most common sources of pathogens. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Agree
Omg! I absolutely love your cat food videos! Thanks for sharing! ♥️
Wow! How humbling. Thank you for watching, and taking a moment to let me know you appreciated them! Cheers, Joanna
I’ve been feeding a raw diet to all my cats and one dog.
I do include liver but cook it VERY thoroughly. No veggies, no carbs of any kind. Coming up on eight years and all are doing great!
Thanks for sharing with all of us. I know many people side- eye raw diets, so this is perfect for them 😊
I searched for more cooking videos.
Are you using other platforms?
Thanks for chiming in! Right now my cooking videos are only on RUclips. Thanks for watching, Joanna
I prefer feeding my grandson Vexna ( He's my daughter only child and he's a cat) cooked food, we read somewhere that humans began to evolved once they discovered fire and started cooking their foods. No Cats are Not human but what could it hurt.? Great video!
I love your enthusiasm and the time and effort you use to make your homemade cat food. You must really love your Cats ❤
Well, thank you! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Thank you for this, I tried once to make cat food and it failed. I’m trying your recipe! My cats are picky but it seems like your cats love this!!
I have 2 cats at home but never thought in a million years I could make home made cat food . I’m going to give this a try as soon as I gather all my ingredients. I also am not keen on giving my kitties raw food. They’re not out in the wild fending for themselves 😅
Best of success! Thanks for watching, Joanna
This was wonderful and very helpful. Thank you so much.
You are so very welcome. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Honestly best cat food video I have seen. Thank you.
Licking the turkey..."Not super excited about that" LOL!!!!!🤣😂
Well, I'm really not. :) Thanks for watching, Joanna
Informative - thanks for posting
You are
Very welcome. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Loved the beginning with the cats eating. That was soooo cute. My cats wouldn't eat it. I saved a bunch of turkey and just chopped it up for them.
I agree I think that cooking for your cats
This content is great! Glad I found the channel.
Thank you so much for watching! Joanna
Yes, I make my dogs food and my cat too and that nutritional used my dogs love it. I guess I should put some in with the cat too. I didn’t think of that. Thanks for the video you’re awesome.😁👍❤️
I can't wait for part 2... ty for sharing. I hope you and your family have a happy holiday.
Wait no longer, Kayla! I just saw in my notifications that it just went live. Hope it helps you with your cat or cats! :) Joanna
Oh my goodness you have so many cats. Oh my goodness they know exactly where to go. Wow, this is amazing. You got them very well trained😳❤️
Thank you for sharing this cat food recipe! Really appreciate all the information you provided! I will definitely try this!!
You are very welcome. Part 2 will be up shortly with the rest of the info and instructions! Thanks for watching, Joanna
I have 7 [rescues] kitties too. I buy can food, tuna and dry food I mix them together. The kitties eat it up pretty quickly. They're spoiled
Joanna
LOVE IT ! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
Thanks for watching! All the best, Joanna
Your cooking assistants are so cute! 💖
Subscribed! ❤
Thank you!
Hello from Canada ,you are amazing thank you❤️🇨🇦
Thank you for the greetings, and thanks for watching, Joanna
Joanna
@@JoannaTrautman Thank you so much, I will use your suggestions I only have a 16 quart pot.
Loved this video Thanks for the recipe!! Plus I didn’t get dizzy watching!!! Tell your son it was great 👍!!!!
Yay! And, thank you! Am so glad it didn't make you dizzy. :)) He's doing a great job, for sure! Thanks for staying with me though. Joanna
Your babies are beautiful!!
Awww! Thank you! And thank you for watching, Joanna
Would quinoa be an option instead of white rice?
Thank you so much. You’ve explained it all so well. Very much appreciated this. I’m trying to make their food but there’s not a lot information out there like yours.
You are amazing. Thank you so very much 👏😘🦋💕🐱
You are very welcome. I hope you and your cats enjoy! Let me know how it goes… Thanks for watching, Joanna
God bless you

I seriouly need to made good food for my cats. the costs have doubled or more. I even had to go into debt for their & my food.
How I get the Whole Turkey if not in the supermarket which they only sale it on Thanksgiving season.😢
Just found your channel and I love it! Found 5 kittens and I have been feeding mother and all. Can't afford wet cat food. I'm spending way out of my budget.
On your chicken video can you quesstamate about how many 5.5 oz
cans your recipe would translate to?
Hello Joanna I am new to your channel and I am liking what I am seeing so far:-) Do you know which nutrients get cooked out? Wondering if supplemental drops can be used?
this is wonderful!! Thank you for sharing How long would this last in the freezer if I were to freeze it airtight containers & unthaw it as needed?
Thank you! My cats bc love chicken so I think this will be so good for them.
Glad you found a solution that works for you and your cats! Thanks for watching, Joanna
Hmmm…. Let me do a bit of digging and get back to you.
I was wondering if you could pressure can this in serving size canning jars, Thank you for this recipe,
Please, tell me where you got your blender, I love it. Mine won't grind up the bones.
Aww your babies are beautiful
Fat does not make you fat, carbs do. Best to drop the rice if your cat is overweight. Anyways kudos for caring for all those cats!
Gonna make this
I live real close to tractor supply and i suspect they may sell taurine. Gonna check
@@JoannaTrautman Hi Joanna Doesnt turkey also have higher levels of phosphorus too?
Thanks for these great videos, if you don't have any pumpkin, what can be used instead please?
You can use shredded zucchini or butternut squash instead. Thanks for watching, Joanna
Is there a printable recipe?
Thanks .
My cat Lily never ever went on the kitchcounter or table. I never trained her not to jump on the counter or tables she trained herself. I got her as a tiny kitten. She is 16 now
I am happy .
Can sunflower seeds be ground and used instead of the flax?
Recipe please!
Sorry for all the comments, but can you list where you got that big pot and how big it is? Looks like there is a strainer in there too? Loving it!!
Can i use GROUND TURKEY instead for this recipe?
Is this balanced? Also, is there a recipe for making smaller portions for only 1 cat?
WHAT SIZE POT YOU ARE USING
I have a frozen turkey… MaoWow is getting this recipe for dinner
thank you. question you have mentioned you can add dried cat food and fresh food. what kind of dried food do you buy? there are so many out there. Which one is healthier without costing a lot! thank you.
Question, can you also grind up chicken bones too?
You absolutely can. It's actually a slightly faster process than processing the turkey bones as they are larger. Thanks for watching, Joanna
❤❤❤❤❤❤love your video
Thanks for watching, Joanna
I was SO excited to make this for my kitties! I thought it was pretty straight fwd so all Gung-Ho, I did so from memory (staring with a 12lb bird) Somehow I only ended up with 21.5 cups 😬 Idk what I did wrong (did not use) bones but thought it would make a lot more! Now I'm questioning how much I should be feeding them....wondering if the calories are more concentrated? Currently they are 100% wet food at about 1.25 (5.5oz) cans per day each. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you!
I may have missed when you mentioned this but what kind of blender are you using the red one? Thanks
It is a Vitamix, but the 5300. I've had it for several years, and use it daily for various projects. I've burned up the motors in a few other consumer-grade blenders, and this one has held up well. thanks for watching, Joanna
I was wondering, if I wasn't using as much turkey, could I use a crockpot on high for a long time instead of the stovetop? Thank you!
Can you do a how to cat food video with fish or other proteins?
I buy bone meal and broth for that reason I am so afraid of losing a kitty because of my own human error or equipment failure.
How many servings does this recipe make?
When do you add taurine?after cooling down?or while cooking?
Johanna, why you are adding extra ingredients (eggs, wheat germ, nutritional yeast, green beans) to this turkey recipe as opposed to your previous chicken recipe?
Your awesome
Do I have to write the record down as I watch video or is it posted?
Wondering about cat vitamins, if it is needed to add?
Good question. This particular formula is more than adequate in taurine and other micro nutrients, but if you don't feel comfortable, feel free to supplement, as most of the micronutrients (like taurine) will be excreted through the urine. Thanks for watching and chiming in, Joanna
What’s high in taurine in this recipe
The heart and the dark meat. not the light meat. she said if you use turkey or chicken you do not need to supplement the taurine. if you use any other meat like beef or pork you need to supplement the taurine
How many pounds is the turkey you are using? Where do you get the taurine?
I think I say in the video, but that bird is probably around 14 pounds. I order supplements like taurine online as I live in a rural area. Thanks for watching, Joanna
what grain should i substitute for fat cat?
