@@MaeMaesHappyTable Thanks for remembering me of my grandmother's cornbread dumplings. She was legally blind. I also can remember her cake icings in which she used various koolaid flavors for them. As you mentioned things are not the same which includes koolaid. I truly love and enjoy both you and your husband's cooking Tutorials. Thanks!!!!
Those turnips are so pretty. I love the brown eggs especially in my cakes and pies. My uncle's hens keep the family supplied with eggs and im so thankful for them because they are expensive.
Your greens look delicious,I love greens, but I never had corn bread dumplings, next time I cook greens, I will be making the corn bread dumplings, thanks Mae,Mae and Tuck, I love you 💕 guys
Hey, Pearlie after l watched the video, I realized that I kept saying cornbread dumpling 😲 I’m sorry 😊 but they’re “ cornmeal dumpling.. aka dodgers “ but they’re so good 😊 thanks for watching 😇🥰🙏🏾
I haven't seen anyone make this like my Mama ( Grandma). Lord, I am heading to my garden and prepare me a pot of this. Thank you so very much. Much Respect 🙇♀️
This recipe really took me back. I have not eaten turnips with dodgers in them since I left home and that had been a long long time. I really enjoy watching your channel/show. When my children were growing up and as I set the table they’d rush to sit down. And I’d say “mommy can’t cook but she puts a lot of love in it” they seemed to have enjoyed whatever I made-I hope they did. I’d mentioned to you before that I never really learned to cook (aren’t all Southern Girls suppose to be good cooks” LOL) anyway I had four older sisters and three older brothers ... they were great cooks and I did learn something from them after I was older-much older lol As the saying goes, “you’re never too old to learn” LOVE YOU, Mae Mae
You’re so welcome. Tuck got a few turnip plants growing in a tub that are just about big enough for harvesting 😊 and that’s what I’m going to do with them, before it get to hot on them and the heat makes them tough and bitter. I will show them to you guys when I do my update coming next 😄 thanks for watching 😍🥰🙏🏾
I'm from a very small farm town in Alabama and haven't seen these since the 70s and have yet to meet anyone else who's ever heard of them! ..THANKUUUU!😊..
I love the simplicity of this channel and the various things you cook! You keep my memory of mom and my cousins who could "burn" alive in my spirit. Thank's so very much! God speed!!
Mrs. Mae Mae, thank you for your recipe. It looks so delicious. I love turnip and mustard greens. I never had the cornbread dumplings in my greens. My grandma and mother would make the pone corn bread. I love the stories, they so remind me of my granddad, and grandma when they had a garden. I miss those days. Food was so much better back then. I love your stories and your channel. ❤️❤️
Excellent step by step directions of an all time favorite and also comfort food. I can see the pot on my mama's stove now. Thank you for recording this, ms. Mae Mae.
Thank you for this memory, my best friend used to make her greens this way. I loss her to Covid this year. I may try this recipe in memory of her. Thanks again.
Hello Mrs. Mae Mae, so glad I came across your channel and I’m really enjoying watching you cook, just remind me of growing up and being in the kitchen with my grandmother and her friends. I love cooking but after my son’s left home, I don’t cook like that. Now that I’m retired I’m back in the kitchen cooking and having a great time. I didn’t know that people still cooked cornbread dumplings in greens anymore and yours looks so delicious. I still cook them too, never knew they were called dodgers😃. Thanks for sharing your Old School Cooking with us❤️❤️❤️
Yummmmm!!! It has been to long since I had corn dodgers! My mama made them, oh so good. Thank you for taking me back in time to good eating!!! You are so close to me, i work in Level Plains.

I haven’t had the good corn meal that I get from Georgia since I’ve not been south due to COVID-19. My grandma and mom loved to make corn dumpling with mustards and turnips and early spring and fall we’d plant mustards and turnips and that would fill me up. I love chicken and dumplings as well.I never had collards with dumplings or cabbages. Thank you I will try this again unfortunately I live in Connecticut and this time year I didn’t plant any here so I will have to buy some. I miss field peas and snaps and good cornbread and raw onions. I don’t eat pork but I use beef bacon and turkey bacon and you can’t tell the difference.
Thank you so much for this recipe. My mother always cooked mustard greens with corn dodgers. Unfortunately, she passed away before I really payed attention to how she cooked them and my attempts were never very good . Hers never had onions , but the flat little dumplings are wonderful. Good luck with your channel.

11/11/22 Hi Mae Mae, My Mom and Grandmother made dumplings in greens and chicken & dumplings when I was 5,6 & 7. I loved them. Recently, I cooked three bunches of turnips, three bunches of mustard greens and a case of collard greens to put in my freezer for the fall/winter. Today, I tuned into your video for dumplings i.e. dodgers. My greens all came out so tasty. I am really going to try the dumplings when I take a bag out of the freezer. I can't wait, they look so delicious. Thank you for the demo. I watch many of your demo and they are all spectacular. ...be nice if I had a smellavision.

My mother used to cook mustard greens with cornmeal dumplings without onions. She has it done them in years and years but I tried once. When I do my grocery shopping I will get greens and try your recipe.
I found your video in 2024. I kept asking my brother and cousin about what we called "dough balls" for eating with cornbread. Everyone forgot the recipe. My mother died in 2013, but stopped cooking due to her health way before this. I wanted to cook some a few years ago and forgot the recipe. Thank you so much for posting. I searched and searched and today I found your video as the first to my search!

🤣🤣That phone call took me out...but my beloved grandmother made this dish with mustard greens.😋
Mrs Mae Mae, my Granny use to make this for us and I have been looking for this recipe for years!!!!! Thank you for posting this.
I love cornmeal dumplings in my mustard greens. Never had the dumplings with green onion but will certainly try it.
I can remember sitting in my grandmother's kitchen watching her cook the way that you do. thank you for sharing.
I have been waiting to make these dodgers for about 40 years I am now 80 years old Thank you so much May God bless you real good

Hey, Pearlie after l watched the video, I realized that I kept saying cornbread dumpling 😲 I’m sorry 😊 but they’re “ cornmeal dumpling.. aka dodgers “ but they’re so good 😊 thanks for watching 😇🥰🙏🏾
Thanks for the correction, you are a wonderful person Mae,Mae,be blessed 😇
I haven't seen anyone make this like my Mama ( Grandma). Lord, I am heading to my garden and prepare me a pot of this. Thank you so very much. Much Respect 🙇♀️
This recipe really took me back. I have not eaten turnips with dodgers in them since I left home and that had been a long long time. I really enjoy watching your channel/show. When my children were growing up and as I set the table they’d rush to sit down. And I’d say “mommy can’t cook but she puts a lot of love in it” they seemed to have enjoyed whatever I made-I hope they did.
I’d mentioned to you before that I never really learned to cook (aren’t all Southern Girls suppose to be good cooks” LOL) anyway I had four older sisters and three older brothers ... they were great cooks and I did learn something from them after I was older-much older lol
As the saying goes, “you’re never too old to learn”
LOVE YOU, Mae Mae
This looks soooooooooooooo good!!! Mrs. Mae you have my mouth just watering.
I have had these cornbread dodgers before. I must try these. Thanks Mrs. Mae Mae for this recipie.

God speed!!
Mrs Mae Mae This looks so delicious I have to make this. I will let you know how it came out. Thank you for all your GREAT recipes.
Mae Mae.

Audrey you can get anything online. Look for the name of the cornmeal you want and I'm sure you can find it.
You can also find field peas and snap frozen in the stores
Thank you so much for this recipe. My mother always cooked mustard greens with corn dodgers. Unfortunately, she passed away before I really payed attention to how she cooked them and my attempts were never very good . Hers never had onions , but the flat little dumplings are wonderful. Good luck with your channel.
Yes I had them and made them, yours look so good!! My mouth is watering!!! Thank you so much for making turnips and dodgers!! Yum, Yum!! Blessings to you

That's what's wrong with us now. We need to learn this and how to grow our own food for better taste, nutrition and health.
I only remember my great grandmothers sister making the corn dodgers. I've only eat them one time because nobody else did. I was a small child but I still remember eating them that day and they are delishious. Thank you so much for sharing these recipes bc it brings back so many memories.

Hi Mae Mae, My Mom and Grandmother made dumplings in greens and chicken & dumplings when I was 5,6 & 7.
Lord I thought about this meal about a year or so ago. I asked my mama about it but she didn't seem to remember. I'm 76 and mama is 94. I do appreciate and thank you for sharing this video! I'm going to surely try this recipe. I truly enjoyed this video!
My mother used to cook mustard greens with cornmeal dumplings without onions. She has it done them in years and years but I tried once. When I do my grocery shopping I will get greens and try your recipe.
Mae Mae I never had dumplings in my greens, but they look delicious. I have to try your recipe. Thank you for sharing they look delicious.
Those turnips look 👀 absolutely gorgeous. Tuck really knows his gardening because they are beautiful greens.
Looks delicious! I really enjoyed the stories of your growing up times.
Love how you remember the old days of how things was done.
This was a great video. I loved how you prepared the food but your stories about killing hogs and all the anecdotes you passed along to us were great. Thank you.
