Toni Navar you can teach the budgie tricks and click the pen when it does it right then give it a treat it will learn that click = treat.

Ja sam pre 6 godina imala tigricu koja je umrla pre 3 godine ali to je davno bilo i bila sam mala pa se ne sećam kako smo je tačno pripitomili, a i pritom imam osećaj da joj je i jedini izbor bio da se sprijateljio sa nama jer ubrzo nije mogla da leti i gubila je perje, mada mi nismo znali da je to loše, pa je zato hodala i družila se sa nama i na našim ramenima. Mnogo se boljim da se novi papagaj neće pripitomiti kao što je prošli bio. Molim te pomozi! Hvala, pozdrav!

I’m just glad I’m not the only one that cleans my bird cages and perches with a toothbrush:p
I make most of the play perches and toys myself: it's a great hobby! (Even the most simple toys are VERY expensive in stores: it's crazy what they charge!)
I do that too! Pet shop is very far away!
Paper towel tubes work great for budgie toys. My girls love them.
@@wyomingadventures Some years ago when my female Soleil was still alive, I would buy ready-to-fold mini boxes from a bird toy vendor and fill them with small items such as wood, cardboard, etc. She loved to take everything out and it kept her busy for a while (see "Budgie Soleil and Her Treasure Chest"). I guess you could approximate the same type of toy with pieces of paper tubes stuffed with "stuff" if you think they would like it.
I make all of the toys and perches and stuff on my own because it is very very hard to find bird supplies (except for food and cage) in pet shops in India
@@lakshyasharma1556 That's too bad. I live near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and most of the larger pet shops carry LOTS of bird toys and accessories. But as I mentioned before, it is crazy what they will charge for simple toys such as those made with cardboard and plastic straws! Making your own is more friendly for the environment...
for a little while I didn’t know how much birds needed the owners attention and how they needed greens so i’m making a list for thinks I need to get my bird! I need to get him a bigger cage because I didn’t realize how big the cage needed to be etc! and I don’t have a lot of money so hopefully I can get this list done quicker than I think I can♥️ I really love my baby boy! wish me luck🥺 I intend to take MUCH better care of him future wise 😁 I might update anyone who sees this comment too!!

@@MoonLightOfficialOwO I have two budgies, and like you I gave up with the taming after a while when I first got them.. they're both adults now, I have them for about 4 years and I finally took my time in the lockdown for taming. It's been a long process but with enough patience it's possible!! They're both a lot less afraid now and even sit on my finger ☺

Dude if your cage is small enough to fit in a box it’s pretty much abuse for the poor bird. They need heaps of room to fly. And strawberries aren’t veggies. There fruit, and should only be given to birds as a rare treat due to how sugary they are. One thing I love in this video is the ‘playground’ as you call it (it’s usually called a stand). This is great since you can have your bird out even if you can’t give it direct attention.
Hey, mister, boxes aren’t all tiny. Some are *huge*. Also, most people let their birds out of the cage to fly around the room. *ALSO*, strawberries are naturally sugared, in a way that isn’t bad for birds. I hope you aren’t a bird owner if you don’t realize these things.

The only bad thing I have to say about the pen is that it makes a slightly different sound than a clicker and if you used a pen as one, every time you write something with a pen the bird will think it did something good.

Of course it does not work and that makes a budgie crazy and he can get depression through it. In addition, they choke food over and over again to feed the alleged partner with it. That's why instead of getting a mirror at least get a second budgerigar. They need company of conspecifics

As always very nice video. I like those straw toys. I hope the budgies like them too. I've been breeding and keeping budgies for almost 30 years now and do all of this. I like heavy ceramic bowls for that reason. The budgies like to stand on them and they can't flip them over. I use cat dishes. I have some pretty ones that have birds on them.
I found out my female budgie cheerio likes to eat clothes pins- and paper towels.
And literally everything

Dis was my life hack IDK if it was already made but I got a plastic cup and placed a sock over it and placed in paper towels inside all around for a little cave (I made this for my young budgies)

Three questions: How do I stop my bird from throwing toys into his water, what do I do about him being literally afraid of any food that isn't seeds, and how do I entertain him more? For context on the last one, he makes a lot of noise, which is expected, but I feel like he's doing that because he has nothing else to do. I've tried playing with him more, letting him out more, (which I haven't been able to do recently because of repair work/cleaning) and giving him new toys, but it hasn't been working. I'm mainly worried if he's stressed out.
Try putting seeds on the food I did it with my budgies and it works

I would recommend not to drop the sand, it contains shell limestone which the budgies need to stay healthy, my two budgies love sand and to pick it up. And it's cheap btw.

The only flaw to the grow your own veggies idea is that where I live the whole country is frozen for more than half the year so our growing season is really short and I have noticed that when I buy new seed I have to buy the same brand every time because other wise my budgie won’t eat it but instead he either throws it around or spits seeds at me lol

Budgies are hard to take care of since I have 2 of them and they both are amazing and the reason I got them was because I don’t have any friends and there like my best buds

It is important to use sand instead of paper towels or newspaper or something like that because the budgies need it to sharpen their beak. They are also eating some sand and it cleans their stomach. They have a stomach which is constantly working. When they dont have the sand which will be digested, they always are eating, but in their body they can‘t handle that anymore so they get ill. We had a budgie which died because of that and something else.... i really recommand using sand and not paper towels and definitely not newspapers because of the ink. It absolutely isnt healthy and they can eat the papers and get ill.
I use sand sometimes, but they don't like going on the bottom 😝

I have my budgies cage at the end of my bed on a dresser. I didnt think it all through before I used wood shavings for the first time. Now I use paper, but if I can find a nicely sized box for a catch then I might go back to wood.

I started stacking a bunch of old newspaper sheets instead of just putting them one at a time. This way, you just add new paper when you "spring clean" the cage. You take the old sheet and tadah! New clean sheet for the day!! :D I even rate the grocery ads by how much I can cover the cage's floor with it XD Some grocery ads cover very little so they don't make good candidates... >:(
