    Maybe you should decorate before you organize, then organize after Christmas. And you should consider doing another declutter after you decorate of what you decided not to put out.

      @@ahoardersheart oh wow, you are so welcome. 😍 I had a house filled to the brim with 30 years of collections and just sooooo much stuff... it took me 12 months to go through it till I got to the point where I had a small enough amount left to be able to whack it in a small storage unit, buy a campervan and begin travelling around Australia, where I live... Now when I think about how much stuff I have left (which is hardly anything) I feel so good... PTSD caused my hoarding, and yeah, it all sparked joy... lol 🙄😆.... but the more I did it, the more I loved tossing things... Keep up these great video's . I love your channel 😍😁😘 xx

Thanks to you, miss Heart, I encourage her to take only small steps at a time so she would feel secure and happy :) Just the other day we cleaned out her miscellanous stuff and asked her to pick out what is not important or trash. Proud of you
    I grew up in a hoarder house and once in middle and high school it started to effect me. I didn't want anyone to come over, and when I came back from friends homes I found myself getting angry. I realize now it was the clutter I was stepping back into that upset me. As hard as it is you are doing this for yourself and your family and giving everyone a safe environment that you can all focus on each other in, and that is a huge gift. On the other end of it as an adult with children I find myself not attached to hardly anything and constantly needing to clean out and get rid of everything or I get anxious. My brother though got the hoarder flip side of it and can't let go of even report cards from elementary school, very much like my mother.

    I totally agree with the requests for a decorating video, but I'd also love to see a "putting things away after christmas" video!!! It could help with motivation to put everything in the right bins instead of taking shortcuts and making more miscellaneous bins in the future ❤ But looking at all your progress and how far you've come, I'm sure you're already equipped to have everything neatly put away at the end of the season!

    I started a “gifting bin”. Anything I see that I know someone in my family would love I buy when I come across and put in the bin so when it’s Xmas or their bday I go to by gifting bin first before going to the store because chances are I have something in there I picked up already. It saves me the stress of Xmas shopping all at once and I get items that I truly feel are perfect for that person. Also, financially it’s nice because it’s not all at once and most of the time what I put in the bin was on sale.

    I'm proud of you! I have a feeling if after Christmas you laid EVERYTHING out in one place before you pack it, you would see that you have more things you could let go of (both because you'll see what you used this year and what you have duplicates of that were just in different bins as you did this round of decluttering). Laying it ALL out would make it easier to organize and pack away, too.

    My dad is a bit of a paper hoarder, so he would save old Christmas cards. I think it was to list who sent a card that year so he knew who to send a card to next year? To encourage him to throw it out, my mom would rip off the pretty card front to use as gift tags for next year. Just an idea depending on how you feel about Christmas cards from this year.

    • @MRPandoraHartDR
      @MRPandoraHartDR 3 года назад

      My mum's excuse for keeping all the Christmas cards is that she uses them to cover boxes she then uses for Christmas decorations. But since she does it by theme of what is going to go in that box, it takes a few years I guess! That said, last year she had enough cards with wreaths on to decorate a box for her Christmas wreaths. And I know she has done one for the Nativity and another for all the Christmas stars. The backs get thrown out though, mum is capable of doing that despite being a horder in general.

    For organising, I would let go of the idea that you can do a perfect organisation with perfect categories right away. I would start with broad categories and the more you organise and de lutter the more you will see what makes sense. And then, when you use them you will again see what makes sense for you and you can adjust.

    This is amazing! You're so awesome :D
    When you decorate for this Christmas, you should see what gets left in the bins and do another evaluation - you might realize that there's more stuff that can go. If you aren't using it and it's purely sentimental, you should separate it out and put it with your other sentimental items. You should also separate the craft stuff and put it with the other crafts. You might want to dip into those things for other craft projects, but it also makes sense to keep like with like, and ensure that it's not just out of sight out of mind until it's too late and you want those things. That way, next Christmas, you'll know that *everything* in the bins gets used.

    I love that you had some Halloween mixing with Christmas Girl after my own heart. 😂 I have a bag that has Easter grass in it and Christmas stuff.

    Thank you for doing this series. I can’t wait to see how you organized all the Christmas things. You have helped me to understand why the Kon Mari way works a little different for us. I now look at right away for things that don’t bring joy and it really helps with the anxiety of being overwhelmed with so much. I have also learned to stop when I start feeling anxious when trying to get rid of things. I still do baby steps because it’s what is working for me. Maybe it’s because I’m not doing it as often as you are. I think you should write a book on how to Kon Mari for hoarders. Happy Holidays to you and your family!!!

    First! Wow, what another great result!!! I am so proud of you! I think the fcb marketplace may pick up now. People would wait for Thanksgiving to be over. You still have a good chance to sell stuff. Perhaps doing packages or similar items may help. Or fill up a shoebox kind of style.

    This has made me happy to watch! I’m glad you’re regifting some stuff. Why pay money for more stuff if you have the stuff? This year, I’ve decided I’m not buying gift wrap. I’m using what I have. I have a lot! I have a few stockings like you that I’m putting a gift or 2 in, im using those cookie containers, too for breakable gifts. More interesting and environmentally friendly than more paper. I’m using the Xmas dish towels I had hoarded up. I’m looking at things with fresh eyes.
