Welcome back to the Time Warp Custom Paint RUclips channel! In this video, I finally get my hands on the highly anticipated Black Widow airbrush that I've been eagerly waiting for since its debut at Sema in Las Vegas last year. Join me as I unbox the Black Widow airbrush and the matching compressor with a 2 L tank that I recently picked up at my local Harbor Freight.

I have a badger & a paasche gun, NIB and I still choose the Harbor Freight $3 gun I bought 20 years ago.
Those are great guns, but any gun is a good gun if you know what you are doing.

It looks like only the Trigger Airbrush does not the Precision-Control one according to their website

The problem with buying harbor freight airbrushes is they do not offer replacement parts to purchase such as needle and nozzle. If they are offering those for this new airbrush than that’s good otherwise better to invest in something where parts are available.
You just take it back with the receipt and get a whole new one

no, at 17:46 what is meant, is for two configurations, one with the QD at the compressor end, say for a school setup, where, like in a chemistry lab, with the gas supply for Bunsen burners, the hose is on the tool, not the supply side; OR for expensive Airbrushes, it's best to take the tool and store it separately, to avoid damage, so having a QD at the tool end is advantageous, like car spray guns, these tools can be custom items owned by the sprayers, and the company owns the compressor, pipes, etc. so at the end of a 'day', the creative takes HIS tool home, or puts it in his locker, for safe keeping.

So, their website shows that this has a .2 & .5 needle included. I wonder what's going on?
.2 and .3 seem so close in diameter that I wonder if there's much difference in performance? I would prefer the .5, to be honest.

Great done perfect for doing bigger Fleshtone figures and overlay paint and highlights I wouldn’t recommend it for Detail miniature work
pretty sure that stuff in the little container is beeswax not lube. use it to seal up the threads on the airbrush when the o rings fail on the nozzle cap and the cup it will work for sure if its bees wax

Hahaha... They even supply bees wax because the threads are so poorly made you need it to stop it leaking at every thread 🤣🤣
I like the black widow touch up gun. It’s nice
so there is a point to each type of airbrush, bucket on top aka gravity feed requires less air so you can do much finer work and get away with a budget compressor. Bucket underneath requires more air but allows you to really apply the paint for large surfaces but you are gonna need some airflow and that takes you out of the range of these cheap compressors.
The biggest thing to look for is tip size though. anywhere from a .2 to a .7.. The point 7 is going to be a trigger style gun like you see with the HVLP and you can even get a fan tip starting around the .5 for automotive stlye large coverages.

Harbor freight is the only company I can think of that has been increasing their quality not their prices.
I don't know if you've seen the new one, but they just came out with a trigger style airbrush, and it looks super, Nice.Spectrum's doing big things.

Hello! I was the very first person to buy mine at the Harbor Freight in Lakewood New York. I haven't used it yet but hey I got one too.
Can you use the same compressor for clearcoat or basecoat? Just a new member here trying to save money.
It can be used for basecoat, but you need a larger Gun for clearcoat and primer

I noticed the gauge doesnt show at what pressure your spraying. It says how much air is in the tank, but not what air pressure your getti g through the gun. Thats an important bit of info when your spraying paint

I also have the Iwata neo and I have one made by Mac tools.
Just purchased Base coat binder 54-9102 to use as a carrier for lime line flake could you tell me the best mix ratio for this procedure, appreciate all your videos and have picked up a lot of useful information.
Mix basecoat binder, one-to-one with urethane reducer to make it sprayable. and mix in one packet of flake in 1 pint

I was given a choice by the wife for Father's Day. This brush, or the Gaahleri Mobius 0.2. I opted for the latter, and I'm not disappointed. I still want the Widow, and a Sotar 20/20. That way I have backups in case my other 16 brushes break down.😇 Did I mention that I have a problem?.

I've been debating what type if airbrush i should start with a cheap harbor freight one or a decent iwata one I've seen at hobby lobby.
With the new black widow, I wouldn't be afraid to go with the hobo freight. I have an eclipse and its fantastic, but both the harbor freight airbrushes I have work great too!

Go with H&S. The new Evolution is better than the old Infinity and the Engineering on H&S is Top draw, not like this cheap and nasty monstrosity. But you wont find a Spider logo on H&S

I got one to.and honestly it works pretty decent and what's crazy is i have a harder and steenbeck airbrush witch is expensive but you can swap nozzle, needle.and aircap witch saved me like 50 just the parts alone haha but thanks for the review

I bought both! One of my quick connects with the compressor is bad and they are making me bring back the whole thing just to replace it but it works great!
The airbrush im not happy with... ill give it one more try. When i was testing it i would get a paint burst after finishing putting paint down and pushing the trigger forward

I found out it may have been user error, I will test it tonight!
Thats what happens when you dont keep the air flowing then you pull the needle in and out. If you stop blowing air when you release the trigger, once you go to paint again it will shoot the paint that collected on the tip of the needle out. this is user error.
Yes, you don’t wanna pull back on the trigger with no air unless you’re looking to make the splatter effect
Key word harbor freight . I will never buy any thing from harbor freight ever again . Never ever never
Rightly so.... If you know airbrushes you will see this is poor design from top to bottom, and ultimately cheap crap. If you want cheap then Fendga will be a better choice at half the price
