The creator would’ve added the grandad to the show if a 4th season had been green light. He was gonna leave Oral a massive inheritance which would naturally piss Clay off. Such a crime it was canceled.
Oh that'd would been glorious
This makes me more made that it was canceled
Why does everything get cancelled
@@FreestyleJan the episode ‘Alone ‘ is what put the nail in the coffin for this show. It’s arguably the most bleak of the series. That said, it’s a well written and chilling episode that Doesn’t follow the same formula as the rest.
@@danwin9986 Urban legend I think. It's most likely the show got cancelled after the end of the second season and they were given one final season to tie up loose ends. The first episode of Season 3 literally has "the final season" in the beginning, which doesn't match with the plans the creators had for later seasons. Also Season 3 is shorter than 2 so it's most likely the show got cancelled before the season was even out.
Orel's sweet little laugh just kills me. Poor baby. Usually little kids are written to be annoying, but little Orel is just too cute.
Well he'll grow into Clay, their lives are an endless loop. Only Arthur escaped moralton
@@insertyourfeelingshere8106 Uh, no? Orel gets a happy ending. He becomes a loving parent in the end.
@@insertyourfeelingshere8106who told you that? Have you not seen the ending yet?
which is so sad when you see how much he changed by the end of season 3, he was so innocent and cheerful then got destroyed by his father. Which makes the end of the last episode even better tbh, to see that he's happy and has a great family after all
@@riennonplus3911 I think it's really special that in spite of the hell Orel went through, he still managed to have a loving family and even kept his faith. It resonates with me as someone who came from an abusive home and feared I'd end up miserable for the rest or my life.
you know it's kind of ironic that everyone praising the grandpa as some kind of super parent when he's half the reason Clay is the way he is.

This is a lot like my grandpa. He treated all of his kids like shit, agonized over it for ten years after they all left him, and changed himself completely for his grandkids. I'm really lucky to have known him after he finally figured out how to value the people in his life, but I feel sorry for my mom, aunts and uncles who didn't.
Sounds like my dad tbh
My grandpa starved my mom and my aunts and uncle and my dying baby aunt
@@jojojoe1077 Jesus Christ that sounds terrible
People can change but doesn't mean they will be forgiven yes
Man, totally same.
The sad part is that Orel really isn’t stupid-he was just severely neglected and didn’t have the parental guidance that his peers took for granted. And since the other kids couldn’t imagine the hell that Orel was growing up in, they assumed his strange behavior was just because he was dumb.
Unfortunately, this is a common reality for people who grew up in dysfunctional homes. :/
None of the characters had good parental guidance. Everything about Moralton is deeply evil.
@@insertyourfeelingshere8106 thats why arthur said “moralton ..” i know he wasnt a great father either, but atleast he tried .. before Clay had treated him like trash and then proceeds to ‘kill’ angela.
my parents divorced when i was 8, and it was a nasty divorce.
My dad was almost never there and my mom, litera;;y a year after, was spending 500$ on dresses at katos while simultaneously yelling at us(me, my oldest disabled brother, and my other brother who was addicted to pain meds- and died when I was 12- i had 3 total. It kind of seems like he may be neurodivergent. It's a bit of a common symptom in autism to take things literally or at face value, but I'm not sure if this was intentional or not.
I feel so bad for orel, I wish he could have lived with his grandpa. He is such a good kid, and it makes me cry knowing good kids like him live in terrible families and environments. Kids shouldn't have to grow up believing they're dumb, useless, or even unlovable. You do matter, and you are loved! If people tell you otherwise, they're the stupid ones, the unlovable ones, and they're the burden to society. They don't matter but YOU DO! I hope this message can get to some who struggle with abuse from peers, family, or even self-hate. This show should have been around longer to help children and teens who go through abuse, amongst other things.
i know, right? Clay was such a horrendous dad. I like to think that at some point Orel thought to himself "do the exact opposite of what Dad does."
I can confirm no dad is better than Clay dad
Tell that to Clay

@@CaptnShrek yes hes better now, but he started a cycle of abuse by abusing clay as a kid.

In a way Arthur got what he had always wanted in Clay. A unspoiled, uncoddled innocent child that just wants to learn. And ironically it was Clay who gave that to him, not because of any good on Clays part but by simply being his own miserable self; he gave his father what he always wanted.
clay was that child but his father at the time was too young to care
True
Clay's father is not a good father, when you look Clay's past. He is the reason why he abused orel. Because he didn't understand it's bad. Because he only feel worth when his father abuse him or something. So Arthur is guilty.
But Orel will grow into Clay, their lives are an endless loop
@@ryunawi8431 all of Moralton is evil. There is no guilt to be placed. He's a gay man married to a women with 2-3 kids, and only 1 is his.
Dam it's pretty sad seeing all this knowing that Orel's grandpa is both a good influence on Orel but hurt Clay to the point where he craves affection through abuse.
I know Clay's a terrible person but I always hoped that somehow he'd be able to overcome his own demons. Well if there's one thing to say about Clay that's good it's honestly just that he created Orel.
True. So much.

Despite of Clay having a bad relationship with his Father because of his Mother's Death and him being so stupid about everything being about himself when he was a kid, Oral gets to have his Grandpa care for him and see him as another Clay but in a different way where he's just an enthusiastic child who doesn't know anything, Oral's Grandpa hates Clay so much but he doesn't hate Oral because he sees him a 2nd chance of how everything should have been if it weren't for Clay's Mother treating him all about him and maybe be different being nice and curious
"a bad relationship with his father" oh you mean the abuse?
@@DussyBestroyer69 no I mean relationship because how Clay saw it, he saw his Dad hitting him as a way of love but when Clay's Father said he wasn't worth it to hit anymore Clay had been broken from the inside
The grandpa failed in raising Clay who ended up being a horrible father but treated Orel WAY better than he did with Clay
I feel like he realized his mistakes and he probably realized he shouldn't be mean or rude to Orel just because Clay is his dad. I'm really happy he did because this is just cute.
Grandparents in a nutshell
That's how my grandpa is he treated my mom horrible but to me he's a second Father.
It's sad how so many grandparents treat their grandchildren like angels to try and make up for how badly they treated their own kids
It's interesting and pretty sad to me much of what Arthur dislikes about Clay is how he embodies all the negative and painful emotions he associates with his wife - her religiosity, recklessness, and naivety, that rubbed off onto Clay and led to Angela's death.
It's actually pretty remarkable now similar young Clay was to Orel, which makes it even more depressing that Orel probably carries the weight of that same memory for Clay in marking the moment he lost the one person who showed him affection, and he only felt his dad cared when he would retaliate in response to his acting out.
I wish we could've seen more of Arthur because I think it's both interesting and also realistic that he's old enough to see how Orel turned out with Clay and lament someone naturally curious and compassionate is being corrupted by his community - but at the same time, he can't forget the event that turned Clay into the person he is today or see reminders of his dead wife.
Well Arthur played a role in how Clay turned out too. After Angela's death he could have righted wrongs and raised clay properly but instead opting to use abuse.
Apparently Arthur was going to play a larger role in Seasons 4 and 5, with Orel reconnecting with his grandfather after he finally wisened up to how awful his dad is.
If Adult Swim hadn't cancelled the show and allowed it to finish as It was planned, we could have watched more about Orel's grandpa, even when he dies.
It can be that both Clay and Orel look the same physically, but both are quite different in personality. Exactly at the age of 12, Clay was a narcisist overly pampered Prince of the house and an attention whore even if that meant to get physically abused ("You are not even worth it").
On the other side, Orel is very naive, but wants to be a good Christian, follow God and Jesus' teachings and doing the right thing although hilarity and chaos ensues due to how he literally understands the messages and the word of God.
What it is difficult to understand is if Clay had a disfunctional relationship with his father, then why he sent his son with him.
Just when I thought Orel couldn't be anymore wholesome.

I'm glad AS still remembers this show, but I wish they should've kept it to season 5. This how was a hell of a rollercoaster, it started from a adult comedy stop motion animation into a really dark and depressing show. But at the end, Orel turned out to be good, unlike his "father".
That's why he's the only one in the whole town God notices in the credits, the rest of them will never see Him.

I grew up with Moral Orel, it's a classic!
Imagine watching this first and thinking that Moral Orel is a cute wholesome show and then you actually watch it. 💀💀💀
the first episode I watched was Closeface. It did NOT adequately prepare me.
it's so wild comparing how arthur treated clay growing up vs how he's treating orel. i wonder if he just had a moment when he came to regret treating clay the way he did and raising him that way. makes me wonder if he's using orel as a way to have a "do over" so to speak after all, in his own words: he was a dad once.
That's not too far fetched to believe. After all Arthur showed some signs of concern for Clay when he was young and wanted Angela to raise him right. Not only to recuperate her but also for Clay's sake as well. But just as Angela died there was no turning back, of course, what Arthur did was not justifiable by any means, as you said the way he treated clay with bitterness and responding to his taunts (sadly result of Clay not bearing the idea of not having attention/love). But I can think he had a few moments for reminiscing, despite not having the strength to forgive Clay (as far as I understood). Even if THERE was forgiveness in him it was far too late for them to mend up, understandably so. I like how complex the whole thing goes because the outcomes of child raising can vary a lot.
I really miss this show, it was so intriguing on how they show social issues. It somehow handled themes such as religious trauma, addiction and child abuse and other topics really well compared to other black comedies. If Adult Swim is still uploading Moral Orel’s story then I believe they should give them more seasons (especially because a lot of cartoons recently deal with societal problems, adult or children’s)
also wow. orel asking “what’s nature?”… what irony
😑
moralton...
Even though Grampa kinda messed up with Clay. He is kinda caring to Orel, in his own way. Hell, he is concerned for Orel's well being, trying to teach Orel from facts and lies. Also making sure he doesnt kill himself

Me: You’ll learn soon enough, kid 💀
HELP
THIS IS NOT OK
This hits too much close home, my grandparents were abusive towards my parents, and my parents were pretty abusive towards me, but those same grandparents were so nice to me and loved me so much. Maybe it's just a thing that abusive parents wants to get redemption by treating their grandchildren well.
The cycle continues
@@Ethan-tl7uw not really, thanks to my grandparents, I know how to love a kid, so if in the future I will have children, I will know what to do to love them and value them like my GP did to me.
same :') ive heard a saying where the more love a grandparent gives to their child the less they give to their grandchildren and vice versa
Arthur : You're even worth it
Clay : In my study
Orel : God be praised
My conclusion is that
1) Arthur is unforgiving but has common sense
2) Clay is mean
3) Orel is nice
The fact that someone actually seems to care for him and tell him to be careful is sad... and they only just met
i like how the grandfather redeems himself a little bit for clay but that was also alot of his mothers fault
Honestly? The whole thing about a man being a better grandfather that a father is pretty realistic. I think it was handled pretty well. Arthur thinking he did the right thing with Clay, until he met Orel and realized he was a horrible father. Him trying to make amends with his son, but obviously Clay doesn't want anything of that. Why would he? He was abused his whole life by him, only to come now that he's an old man that he's sorry.
Yep I kinda knew Clay's dad would try to kill clay
I kind of curse Grandpa for not succeeding
@Sewwfffyhjijui and that's not just killing his mother, Clay did the worst thing I wouldn't imagine a dad would do

You know something not taking Orel to church until the Rev and Censor hassled him over it, was probably the most nicest thing Clay did for him, that wasn’t twisted out of his warp version of love.
Ironic how a bit after i found this show they’re making a special of it.
unfortunately, the special aired nearly a decade ago now. it’ll become 10 on november 19.
What's ironic for me is I just saw the entire series for the first time... Finished it on Easter. Actually... That's just more of a coincidence than irony lol
Although i can see why people are critical of grandpa, he is by far the best person in the whole show if you ask me (not counting Stephanie or Orel). He may have been the reason Clay became like this but he is the only one who truly realised his past mistakes and both regrets and tries to atone for them for Orel. Meanwhile, almost every other character in this show has done horrible things and only ones who even had a proper arc was Reverend Putty when he connected with his daughter (yet he never even came to terms with he treated Florence). Grandpa may be the reason Clay is like this, but Clay had so much time and chance to grow up. Yet he still refuses. Plus, i would say living a lonely life and in regret for being responsible of your grandkid's suffering is a pretty damn good punishment if you ask me.
Doughy has always been a real friend to Orel and I admire that about their friendship

To be fair, Clay was spoiled rotten by his mother - who treated him with all the attention and affection originally aimed to Arthur and literally gave that man the leftovers (both for food and attention) of his son since little asshol-I mean Clay was born. Aaaaaaaaand he did basically cause his mother to have a heart attack after being told many times by Arthur she had a weak heart - though Arthur definitely wasn't a saint with how he handled those situations... but he was easily one of the best influences on Orel, grandpa Arthur Puppington.

Why they canceled this great show yet kept robot chicken?
They cancelled it because moral orel touched on some really serious subjects, like trauma and different forms of abuse.
@@Sauc1nn I know, but I don’t think a show should be canceled or censored simply because it touches on sensitive subject matter. We shouldn’t shy away from conversations about difficult topics simply because it’s uncomfortable, as long as they are handled with maturity and sensitivity. I feel like Morel Orel handled a lot of it’s dark subject matter maturely, the show didn’t shy away from serious subject matter, and it wasn’t afraid to get real about things. That one scene with Nurse Bendy is the first scene that comes to mind. If we look at where the story was heading, the show would have gotten darker and Orel would have endured more hardships, but in the end he would overcome these struggles. We would have seen Orel mature emotionally into an adult who is genuinely happy with his life, despite his toxic and abusive childhood. That’s a powerful story to tell and I think watching that story unfold could actually empower a lot of people who are struggling in their own lives
@@Sauc1nn Yeah, is pretty stupid. I mean, they can joke about rape (God's chef in first season,) but when is about the actual effects it has is too..dark? Is ridiculous..
