I love this camera and still use it for all my outdoor videos. Keeping my fingers crossed for an updated version with slightly larger sensor - that would be my dream video camera.
Great review, thanks. I still love my Pocket 2 - it excels where GoPro falls down, mainly stabilisation in low light, as it's a physical gimbal. Also super portable and discrete. I hope they don't ruin it with the Pocket 3!
It really is so good. Whenever I travel I always take my Pocket 2. It's so tiny and unobtrusive and the quality of the video is much closer to my mirrorless camera than my GoPro or smartphone. If the 3 ever comes out I am buying it on day one. Providing they don't make it too much bigger that is.
I dropped my pocket one two days ago from about 6ft onto concrete. It had an nd filter on, which probably saved the lens, although the area around the lens was scratched. Still worked fine after that so I still have no excuse to upgrade :)
@@yagizkelesoglu2460 hmmm is that the original or the new pocket 3? My guess would be check that there is nothing blocking the natural movement of the gimbal. Have you got an nd filter on there that may be out of position and obstructing the gimbal? Maybe try to rotate it by hand to normal off position. I guess eventually the battery will die and it may reset. I dunno to be honest.
This is one of the best consumer camera products that has ever been released -- especially when you consider the trade offs between cost, size and image quality.
I have Pocket 1 . . . to me a sacred object. It solved my problem of filming live bands in clubs where flashing coloured lights are a challenge. The ability to shoot pans automatically is too cool (the 3x3 pan being very useful).
I replied, but not showing . . . maybe I forgot to click Reply. The sound can be good depending on placement, but is generally hit or miss. Recording loud music in a club atmosphere is not a perfect science. So I use three recording devices and mix them in post. My best mike is the Zoom Hn1 which records in stereo and is about same size as the Pocket. Old phones can be used to record too and are cheap to buy. Recording directly from a mixer is ideal. But gets complicated with large bands, The mixer operator may help. For small acoustic type bands the mixer method is the way to go.
I have this but tbh I haven't properly used it. I would appreciate a video about your preferred settings, editing etc. Your footage looks great. Thanks!
I'm still between Osmo Action 3 and Pocket 2. I understand that the one is more for vlogging and the other more for action-paced situations, but I can't figure out which one should I choose for my own purposes. I'd want to do both - more on the vlogging in it's literal meaning, making video blogs of my events, activities etc for me to look when I'm older. I just can't figure out how much do I get the "Oh, this situation would've been better if I bought the other one" with each one.
@@RoyGregorioyes! The earlier GO2, along with Pocket 2, makeup 95% of the video I share. Sometimes I throw in zoom shots from my old 1080p handicam. $1,000 collectively on three cameras that do everything for me. I could spend $1,000 more and no one would know the difference.
I have trouble getting pocket 2 to have a good sharp image quality in photo mode, its always a tad bit blurry here and there not quite like your example, is there a setting I should have known?
Excellent. Yes, the Pocket 2 is still the tiny camera I reach for when the chief object is good video quality. And excellent sound too - the four mics whose stereo image follows the direction of the panning camera lens, even though they are mounted in the handle, are perhaps the best on any camera at any price (ok, I don't really know the competition, but I would be interested if anyone can make a good case for another camera in this respect). One downside you didn't mention is the poor quality of the face tracking compared with the Pocket 1 (or even compared to the Fimi Palm 2). But that only matters to people who want to track faces...
Pocket 3 would be amazing with a larger sensor, D-LOG and hybrid digital stabilization for the z-axis. Imagine a motion lapse mode! It has so many advantages over GoPro or Osmo Action simply because it is physically stabilized. Action camera stabilization falls apart as soon as the shutter has to drop below 1/100s.
DJI Pocket 3 is coming soon! I spotted some RUclipsrs testing it out in BTS videos of the Sony Kando 2023 event (where they get all-expenses paid vacations to their event + free camera gear from Sony).
I was looking at getting an insta360 Link for a webcam but im wondering if I should get one of these dji pocket 2 or 3 instead. at least then i can take it out and use it to make videos. Is there a Native webcam mode with pocket 2? i know there is on the new pocket 3, but any advice would be great, thanks!
Just asked this question on the DJI website support chat line. Hi - I want to have 2 transmitters linked to the new pocket 3. If I buy the creative comb can I buy just one of the new Mic2 transmitters. They couldn't answer as that option isn't yet available. I presume it will be as it would be crazy to make people buy a whole new MIC kit just to get an additional transmitter.
The mimo app can't be found on Playstore anymore. Is it gonna be a problem without the app? I am considering to get either Pocket 2 or 360 x 3. Which one is better?
Thanks for the Update Video of the Pocket 2 in 2023. So whats the best 4 axis equivalent in terms of compactness? Anybody making one that you can walk with and get rock steady footage, or are we stuck with 4 axis gimbal for a phone/small camera?
I had a look at a Pocket 3, to me it loses the advantage of being discreet like the Pocket 2, especially with the horizontal screen on the new model. If I was filming videos and being discreet is the priority, I would still use a Pocket 2 over a Pocket 3.
Compared to iP 14 Pro i think it is more usable just pull up your phone and shoot video, no? I have 14Pro myself and considering the purchase of pocket 2

i wish it had an internal natural density filter, a remote control, and a way to go straight to recording from an off position by long pressing a button. otherwise it's pretty good!
For an update I'd like to see a square sensor so you can record in vertical, horizontal and square all at the same time, like the Insta360 Go 3. You then choose your format afterwards in the app, but can export the same video in various formats. Given all the formats required on social media nowadays, I think this is pretty important for any of these little video cameras, now. I wouldn't buy it if it can't do that.
