Very good to see, someone posting the purpose of the postures and practical applications. Not just I can do FORMS FORMS FORMS FORMS FORMS MORE FORMS I GOT FORMS I CAN DO FORMS. Good on you.
Valuable teacher!!! from a martial artist for 35 years
Nice video. I just got into Tai Chi (Yang style). I like seeing the motivation behind the forms so it's not just empty moves in the air.
Nice. As usual very clear and straight forward explanation and demos..
Superb demonstration ! Thank you for sharing!
Great demonstration. Well done.
I don't think I'll find a better interpretation of single whip , just awesome ! And the patting on the bum part was very helpful ! If you don't like what hear " change the channel "
lmfao sorry but this is bs/
@@daddy9267 But you are not well known for Taichi and not a recognized source of information whereas Adam is and has been interviewed and featured by martial art sources who obviously feel he has something of worth to add. Your comment is pure opinion and I suspect I will trust in Adam's view ahead of your cynical and unsubstantiated 'opinion'
@@TheStrataminor we both watch the same vdo?
I love the different ways you can use single whip. 👍
Thanks so much for showing applications in almost real speed! These typical slow motion demonstrations alone are so totally useless, dangerous even, because they lead people to believe they have acquired a real fighting skill, where in fact all they have learned is how to counter a slow motion, simulated attack. Most people have no idea how fast fists can move in a real fight.
I have never seen 1 whip applied that way. Cool.
Good video, Tai Chi can be used for self defense. Just remember to train with different styles and be open to different methods and systems. You would be surprised how much is the same throughout the Martial Arts.
Taichi can answer everything in fighting you just have train the whole martial art
@@dwddindin Tai Chi as a fighting style per se is pretty useless fighting other Tai Chi practitioners. As a foundation for freestyle fighting, absolutely amazing. But if you stick to the style you've learned, you're most likely going to lose against a skilled boxer, or whatever skilled fighter.
Sweet vid Adam thanks !!!
So kryptonite and tai chi can defeat Superman! Just teasing. Nice video. good show of form and application
I saw all RUclips and no one did single whip application right wow
Sifu, can you make form and app videos of other sections as well?
It would be very helpful
Excellent!
Fantastic!
This is a way to teach and share knowledge! Much respect.
reminds me of "as above so below" or a bola... back away "correctly" and it amplifies them flying away? ... its a complicated feeling the moment. lol thanks a mil.
You can make any movement into something practical. I guess the idea is to spar often to know when to use what and get you muscle memory in the right place. I think that everyone's different in different areas and we want to maximize the effectiveness of whatever choice we make in a confrontation. So train, train, and train and with as many different people as we can. Agree? I guess I'm being philosophical but that's me. Have fun.
good apps video. Thanks
Good stuff
Where did the coach go. I wanted to learn to do this on the sofa.
if you let go of that invisible rubberband, does it hurt?
amazing
3:17 I've seen the same thing in Baijiquan videos
Great explanation. :-) What does the beak do in the application?
...the " beak " can be a wrist strike under the chin or on side of face or temple.
It's also a cai. Liang Dehua's video on single whip goes over it.
Great! But what about the main, original application? Why do we use "gou" in single whip?
Can you go into more detail?
DymokKumok, Just search for liang de Hua single whip. You will find the explanation for the gou hand there. In short, this hand is for developing sticking Energy for plucking (tsai).
@@patrickschlageter7561 which is exactly what I do in this video.....
@@DiscoverTaiji , yes Sifu no doubt about that, especially in the first application you are showing. But not obvious for the asker.
I took some boxing classes, and I can't imagine doing that outside to inside parry against a jab.
You have to have joint stick adhere follow skill ant have to remain song in figh stress action mode. And nobody can do it but he can. So the jab will stick to his hand and redirected follow by what you basically saw here.Short version of story.
Sifu, is there a reason why single whip seems to be done only on one side?
super
Good
Similar to Karate, the move looks different when it is in an application.
Breathing ?
Chi control ?
Never a mention of these Tai Chi ESSENTIALS.
This is little more than grappling.
right talk about the breath and qi and you have taiji ;)
#singlewhip
As you go to jail. After pating a a girl. On the bottom lol
As an Indian, i can see that this is very similar to YOGA. But, this should never be used as a self defense technique. It is not! A good boxer will send this fake sensei into another dimension! We have a lot of these FAKE martial arts in India too.... Lol!!!
I dont think you have a firm understanding of Taiji. Its not Yoga, its not like Yoga. It might look supernatural sometimes but its not. Its just internal body mechanics. Nick Ozspiac is an MMA fighter that has used Taiji in the ring.
@@arbogast4950 and why is he not a famous MMA fighter,my friend, if Taiji was so effective? You don't need a PhD in anatomy and body mechanics to know that Adam Misner has a black belt in Bullshido🤣. I don'mean to be rude, Taiji is probably good for your joints if you're over 70. But this asshole is selling it as a self-defense system and gullible people are buying into this nonsense. It saddens me greatly... Please look into Xu Xiadong if you can spare the time..
@@arbogast4950 My friend, I know it's not yoga or anything related to it. Yoga is about static positions and stretches. Sadly, it is also sold (by us Indians) to impressionable rich white folks who think any Eastern style is mystical/magic. But when you tell folks to use Taiji as self-defense, it becomes a crime towards humanity, on the same level of steroids in contact sports and selling sugary drinks as health drinks. It's just plain unethical
@@antapps I've seen plenty of footage from Xu Xiadong. Why does he (nick) have to be famous? The fact that he can even step in the octagon is enough proof. Those other "masters" don't even spar, so it makes perfect sense that they get knocked out in 10 seconds. Ive actually grappled with competent Taiji practitioners. Ive gone over its principles and mechanics with state championship wrestlers. Its not mystical. It has martial value, mostly for grappling. Also, im not saying that Mizner is an untouchable God. I am saying that he has a very good grasp on the mechanics of Taiji and their original intentions.
@@arbogast4950 any random guy can 'spar' with Taiji masters and still look good. Im no master. I have about 3 months of boxing training, that's all. As you said, I can also 'step into the octagon' and get my ass whooped by a real fighter. Stepping into an octagon or challenging someone to a fight doesn't mean anything. If Taiji worked as a self defence system, it would have known globally as one. It's been around forever right? Is there any footage of a Taiji master (using Taiji, not MMA) beating a real fighter? All these years of search and I haven't found one🤷♂️. Kung Lee is a legendary Kung-fu/Wushu master who fought in UFC and had good success, until he got KOd by Micheal Bisping, who was not even the best Middleweight at the time. The Only Chinese MMA champion Zhang Weili is actually a Muay Thai fighter... So.. maybe there might be a hidden master with unbeatable skills, but proof matter and as of now, I can't take Taiji as a serious martial art. Good movement exercise for sure! Nothing else
"Padding a girl on the bottom" is rather an inappropriate metaphor for such an advanced practitioner.
Sandra C. oh this isnt pc culture hahaha it was hardly meant badly or taken badly by most. its a metaphor, especially when used as a teaching aid its meant to give you a clear picture did it work? worked for me... real quick, just to throw myself umder the sexist bus too. i teach wing chun and will jokingly tell ppl in the middle of an intense session that you can tell wing chun was made by a woman because it asks you to do and balance the impossibles lol..strong while weak, weak while strong... my class chuckles and even my wife finds it amuzing.now if you were in his class and he kept talking about smacking your bottom then we have someone not at all deserving of title and skill
That's right! Hopefully the girl already has enough padding. That's why we are patting her on the bottom!
Sandra, we are here to learn tai ji Quan. I don't really care whether my master is respecting pc culture or not. I care whether he can teach. Adam is a fantastic teacher and you're unlikely to find clearer less ambiguous instruction and if that means patting the odd girl on the bottom then so be it!
Sandra C is right. And her comment has zero to do with "pc culture". Its disrespectful to infantize women with such comments. My mother, sister, spouse, and daughters are full human beings thank you very much and using terminology like "pat the girl on the bottom" infanticizes "the girl" whi in most cases is smarter, stronger, and more capable than bozos like you.
@@therealchristophernomiddle376 Nigga please.. We are adults . There are males and females . And yes we likt to pad women on the ass..it;s natural . Nothin wrong with it. If done or said in proper moment not on any occasion . Please do not create problems and by the way most women find such behaviour self esteeming( If i could say that ..even though they act differently) .
‘…. patting a girl on the bottom…’. Mmmmm? Get with it mate. 🇦🇺🦘👍
Otherwise,informative.
