An absolute banger....when you consider how old this is,the quality of recording is amazing......you really need headphones on to appreciate this song.....classic "stereo ".......Brian May is almost criminaly underrated as a guitarist

Queen was always about the stereo-sounding effect on many of their tracks, so it is best to listen to them on headphones, as they designed their music for that particular effect. It is also why they recreated the tracks differently for the live performances. Incredible musicians.

Turns into Love Of My Life. The harmonies in it make it the most beautiful! Harmonies are missing live and many have no idea of its beauty.

Always say i love listening to 70’s Queen and love watching 80’s Queen
Two different era’s of the band but still very much the same band in its essence. I love the early 70’s Queen for how raw everything is. Prophet song is an all time favourite for old school Queen fans

I consider this song to be Brian May's answer to Freddie's BoRap.... the intro and outro of this song was Brian playing a Japanese toy koto (in essence a miniature harp laid flat)... one video on UTube shows him playing it... AMAZING!!
Thanks for a great reaction... blessings.

You might find the “Making of The Prophet’s Song” video interesting, not just from a musical standpoint, but in what they had to do (with the technology they had in the 70s) in order to create the unique production techniques, especially on the delays being used for the vocal canon section.

A brilliant song, 4 brilliant musicians, that legendary voice, and the amazing Roy Thomas Baker as the Genius of the Mixing Desk.
And let’s not forget the Toy Koto 😊

Brian said that this song came to him in a dream. He also had been messing with bell or canon effect which he brought into Freddie who loved it and had so much fun with it singing over what he had already sung and having it bounce back at him. I had this album on vinyl way back when it came out and it was the same. An absolutely incredible performance by Queen is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975, there is a long instrumental portion of that song which is perfection. Another must listen is March of The Black Queen studio version. March of the Black Queen was never adapted to be done live, a tiny snippet was included in a medley at one point, but you will want to hear the studio version, it will definitely blow your hair back.

The first part of the middle section was not layered, but done live solo by Freddie, running the tape through 3 tapemachines placed at the correct distance from each other to get the double echo in harmony. Amazing job.

According to Brian, Freddie did the looping all by himself. Brian said he didn't know that it could be done without the proper equipment. He said Freddie was like a living metronome.

This song is designed for Quadraphonic stereo it plays with with the space around you. You heard voices going your right ear to the left and above your head, but it really goes side to side, above you, corner to corner and swirls around you. It is 3D music. In a car with quadraphonic stereo back in the day it was amazing. You heard something different depending on where you sat. It was too costly to engineer the 3D music experience so only a few groups did it. Queen, The Cars, Cliff Richard. are the ones I remember so the Quadraphonic stereo fad petered out. If you and your friends didn't have enough money to really do anything... You all got in a car pooled money for gas and just drove around blasting the cars sound system all night. Cars were gigantic back then our Grand Safari station wagon sat 8... 10 if you squeezed an extra person in the two rear seats. Hell, if you laid all the seats down you had a 4X8 cargo area to seat as many people sitting Indian style as you dared!
