MOVE OVER 68! New kid in town...just turned 65 last month! Was 13 summer 72! Great music. This was one of the 1st 45s I bought. Great summer memories, let's keep on keeping on.
This song is my dad's favorite...I can remember him putting this record on and us just jamming to many great times..and my dad can't even hear it...he's deaf..but he can most definitely feel it...we can be driving the road..and as long as it's loud enough & he can feel it among many other songs he'll kno what's playing from which record...he knows this song by heart..it always amazed me that he never could listen to it but feel the bass and beats ...this is his anthem and I'll probably play it for him at his funeral so that after he passes maybe he can finally hear what a great song this is..and how much his love for song has influence me to appreciate being able to hear music ....everytime I listen to songs I am so grateful to be able to hear ...never take your senses for granted...and always rock on my friends....🤟🤘😎🎸🥁🎧💿🎼🎵🎹🎛🎚🎙🔣🎺
deaf people can feel vibrations i had a close friend who was deaf i miss the hell out of her and a couple of people i know their mom is deaf and they are hearing but they communicate with sign language like i would speak to my mom in german
Yeah, I'm really blessed to have such good hearing, now, at 71, despite all of the rock concerts that I went to, in the early 1970's--for sure! So many of my friends, nowadays, are cursed with some form of hearing loss--but I can still enjoy great music like Argent--anytime (as well as understand what any of my girlfriends are talking about, on the phone, too! Ha ha ha ha ha...)
Our organist played a version of this at Mass. No one recognized it but me. The next Sunday we got some of Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky. We're an aged congregation, but went a little pentecostal for a few minutes.
Boy I wish we'd had those kind of tunes at St. Jane Frances de Chantal when I was a kid. Nope, just the usual Catholic themes of guilt and suffering...
Came back from a near death trauma recently, my dad RIP! Played Rod Argent's "Hold your head up" for me in 1978 and I still hold my head up! Thanks Rod and dad!
I love this song. I found myself playing this song in my head. I'm recovering from back surgery, and while walking one day this song just popped into my head. It's a great motivator.
My mom was never into rock, she was into classical. BUT she taught me this lesson even before this song came out. Argent just reaffirmed the meaning of the lesson. Mother's memorial is this weekend, and I needed to be reminded of the lesson
Of course I grew up listening to this type of music. When I hear young people today that have self esteem issues, maybe they could give this song a listen. To us, music was a big part of our lives.
Sometimes listening to the music 60-70 brings tears to my eyes cause I remember those powerful feelings I had when listening to it for the first time! I'm 63 and still doing my best to hold my head up!
This great song came out one summer when I was about 14 and working with my father. We were remodeling an old farmhouse for an orthodontist and his wife. Wonderful days considering the days that are upon us now. Like the song states, we need to HOLD OUR HEADS UP! 💪🤠🇺🇸
One of the great underrated classic rock tunes of all time. Perfect guitar and keyboard tones, plus English vocals. Restrained guitar. Gorgeous and heavy hitting at the same time. Proves you don't have to crank a song up to get an emotional response. And that keyboard masterpiece in mid-song is unforgettable. And one of the first 6 minute rock hits on top 40 radio. At least in NYC.

A very special childhood friend held me and played this song for me when my mom died, ironically when he passed away a few years later I remember holding him in my arms as he passed, I remember him looking me in the eyes telling me “hold your head up”
"Hold your head up - you don't owe anyone anything" is what my mother used to tell me when I was a kid, and that's the best advice she ever gave me. "Just let them burn their eyes out" - yeah !
"Hold your head up. Hold your head high." This song definitely withstands the test of time. In fact today's music is much too simple to compete with this awesome hit. Tip- Play it loud for full effect.
This is timeless perfection. It's like every time I hear it, it's brand new. It's progressive, got a funky groove to it then the keyboards just take over. Just does not get old. Classic masterpiece, arrangement just so with timed breaks all at precise moments. A pick up moment at the right time.

Any classic song can take us back to a time to a place. This takes me back to Hialeah Florida 1972 as I look back at it life was a lot simpler and people genuinely cared for one another.
Too many conflicting memories regarding this song flow through my boomer brain. Always did like this song and I can at least say listening to it made me stronger to face life adversities. Thank you Argent!
I'm 69, a few months from 70 I loved this song when it came out and I still love it all these years later. Very uplifting. Another one I remember from that era- Bang a Gong by T-Rex- another song I love to this day!
First time I ever heard this song, I was with my brother and a few friends, and I had my car parked on the creek bed with the radio on. Walking around with a brew when it first came on at the very start of it, it touched me in a way and had me hooked. I went right straight and bought it on cassette and finally found it on a cassette with other hits from that era. 😎 Memories man...
