@@Slavkovic_Predrag How about you take a snapshot from situation at 42-43 seconds and only then make it explode? So the starting point is the one where the shell essentialy stops. We may omit the part of armor slowly flying away, because the filler explosion won't affect it.
Armour material is still a bit too strong. Or is it because of the shells nose blunting, I wonder? Regardless this penetration performance is not as good as I expected. It would be interesting to see this scenario simulated again, but with the shells nose not eroding. Just give it very high yield strength(50 GPa) that should do it.
The ballistic limit for the british 6pdr (57mm) uncapped AP against Tiger I driver's plate (102mm/9°) was found to be only about 2400fps (732m/s), much smaller than 940m/s we see here (even considering the difference in shell mass and design).
Armor material is 230 brinells standard for 100mm thick plate. (Some sources put 100mm rha higher and some lower). Afaik caps were made out of softer steel than penetrators but it could be that I made it too weak.
@@Slavkovic_Predrag I have a picture of cross-sectional hardness profile of a german AP shell with its cap. I can't post it here, RUclips keeps deleting comments with URL links in them. Do you have some other way I can send it to you? Discord? Email?
It has 120-125mm of pen at this range. 145mm is at 10m. Overestimated by a bit but might be accurate since ww2 tanks had steel od lower hardness so it could be accurate.
@@5co756 the round in WarThunder penetration value is thrown off by being a cap shell, APC shells in game get a generic amor pen buff. Please do 130mm aphe (is-7) vs Tiger 2 glacis.
could you maybe do a follow up vid on this? would the explosion afterwards create enough scrapnel for the shell to still hurt anyone inside?
I could make it explode in a different simulation without it hitting something first. If I did both in one simulation it would just crash.
