My Dad’s best friend adopted a girl through foster care. She had been severely beaten by her mom’s boyfriend. She had problems developmentally. The pediatrician in town told my dad’s best friend and his wife that the girl would not be worth adopting. They continued with the adoption. Yes the girl was delayed. My dad’s best friend and twin sister were adopted. The twin sister had cerebral palsy. Their parents would not split those two up and he wasn’t going to turn away anyone with a disability. The daughter grew up. She is an adult now and has kids of her own. They are having to raise the grandkids. I don’t know the backstory on the father so much other than he had developmental problems as well.
Great video!!! Thank you so much for this information. Ive been watching so many videos to get myself educated. I want to adopt teens but I dont think my house is ready for the home study (it's a fixer upper) I cant wait though!!!
I love that you want to adopt teens! ❤ I teach high school, so teens have a special place in my heart. You should look into your state/local requirements for what your house needs to be like because you'd be surprised at what would be okay! Once you start with an agency they will give you a list :)
@@adoptinformed I've been slowly looking into agencies. I'm in New Jersey so we are still pretty locked down over here 😂 but I hope to go to some information sessions onces my state starts them again. Thank you for all your content I've been watching your videos all day :)
The thing is, we shouldn't call these "agencies" because they are not government agencies. They're for-profit businesses, companies, that manipulate, coerce, and deceive the birthmothers in order to obtain their product for other families to procure. Some of them have price lists for white babies, Black babies, newborns, older infants, healthy babies, babies with known disabilities or physical ailments. It's a racket. Supply and demand completely shapes the pricing. My adoption in 1964 cost $600, equivalent to $5,600 today. But you know how much private adoptions cost today. What changed? Nothing substantial has changed except two things: a) Roe v. Wade, and b) most white women in prenatal crisis who are carrying to term are keeping their babies today. Supply and demand! Yes a couple of things have changed: there is open adoption (NOT legally enforceable in any state, even in California which declares it enforces it but the judges don't do so), and birth-matching. Birth-matching doesn't cost money, though; it makes the adoption agency more money by making it more likely the birthmother will surrender her child to the hopeful adoptive parents. Both of these are deceitful, manipulative gimmicks to part the mother and her child.
Hi Katie. I am currently 5 months pregnant with a healthy baby boy. I have a 10 year old son. I'm a healthy 30 year old. This baby is baby number 2. Financially, I wouldn't be able to make it given the economy in South Africa. I want my second son to have thee best life ever. I am thinking to let him be with adoptive parents from new born. I understand making the waiting parents wait 7 years but why do these adoption agencies also make the poor child wait so long? they keep these children waiting too?
Question: when adopting a waiting child, can they be homeschooled during the time of waiting? I’ve heard that they have to go to public school… I homeschool my 4 so just want to prepare for the dynamic
It is very possible they will require the child to go to public school during that time frame. There can be good things about that because it could allow them to meet kids in the area and the school can often provide services like speech, occupational therapy, one-on-one time with the counselor, etc. That saves you a lot of time and effort as a homeschool parent having to outsource those things :) However, if you think homeschool would be a good fit for the child, you could always ask if they would allow you to do online public school. That way the child would still be at home, just following a public school curriculum on the computer.
Very informative video, thank you for taking the time... I didn’t know where to start. Off topic question, what is your color paint name?? Is a true gret which is hard to get.
Hey Katie! Thanks for your videos. We are in the process of getting our foster care license in hopes for adoption . However, is there a way to ask for children who are “waiting children”?
There are lists of waiting children in each county as well as a national list on Adoptus kids. You can talk with your agency about adopting a waiting child and then you can see what they are able to do! Our agency can adopt from anywhere in the US, but our kids have all been placed from our state (just different counties).
Hello, I am interested in adopting in the state of Texas; if you have any information on Texas adoption process or would do a Video on the Process it would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank you. Awesome Video!!!💯
Hi Katie, thanks for your amazing videos. Could I ask a question: If I am not a US citizen, and I want to adopt US children, where the process could be different from a US-citizen-adoption? Let’s say I want a US new-born, I assume I come to the US, find a private agency, express my interest to them, pay and wait? I believe it would be more complicated and more red tapes involved 😢 Thank you!
If you live in the US and have a green card there can be a slightly different process depending on your state but it’s not impossible from what I understand!
I have custody of a baby. I know the birth mom. I want to adopt, but I don’t know what paperwork to file. Mom and Dad are not going to contest the adoption. Can anyone point me into the right direction?
What I learned in this video is that the government & adoptive agencies own the kids & they just do whatever rules. I say this cuz it seems that all the process is just toooo long & EXPENSIVE.😳 When people get pregnant they have their kids in any situation & they adapt their lives to their new member of the family. The only think that those entities should know is the fact that the couples are not criminals, they have jobs & a house or apt. Thank you for the video I learned something else.
yeah i hate it, I want to adopt a boy so bad but i cant afford these costs. We already have a 9 year old daughter and i would have another kid myself but had a traumatic experience and don't want to go thru it again.
Ive thought about being a foster parent to be able to adopt and if not just be a warm and loving home even if its for a short while to a child and show them love and respect just so they know someone does love and care about them i hate that kids have to go in foster care and end up having to go place to place and not having a place to call home or that security or someone not loving and caring about them it breaks my heart 💔
@@AmandaR08 there are options to adopt a waiting child from foster care, and there is a HUGE need for good foster families! I have tons of other videos about the topic so hopefully that could help you get started if you are interested! ❤️
Hello, I'm 36 years old and I've lived in Alabama all my life. But I did see this video and I am interested in learning more about foster care for a newborn baby or up to 2 years old. Although the goal in mind is to provide a loving and safe home for a child however long they are with us, but if we and the child are a good fit and its not possible for that child to retirn back to theor borth parents, I want to know the process in how to adopt that child and will the govement still provide medical care for that child as well as a monthly billing to provide for all of the childs needs and care. Or if they immediately cut you and the child off from that source of means that helps provide even more so for that child? And I want to know more aboit the entire process of fostering to hopefully adopt in the future if your blessed enough to provide a jome for a baby that needs one that cannot go back to birth parents even thoigh that should be the main goal. It does sound more affordable and might have luck down the line of adoptong a child of the desired age you are wanting. I had no idea that other ways of adopting a child could cpst 20,000 or 40,000. So yes, foster and possibly adopt if given that chance sounds better too me of possible. I'm not ready to fill out a form or anything because I have to take this one step at a time with my husband. And discuss when is the best time to start the process. And I wonder how long it usually takes from starting the process and actually adopting a baby boy or baby girl in Alabama. Or how long it takes to just becole foster parents who may adopt later down the road. I just want to learn about the entire process, the requirements, the cost and how long it can take sometimes to find a newborn baby boy or newborn baby girl or 4-7 months old. And if you adopt or foster twins, is it alright if they share 1 decent size bedroom together? I don't know what the requirements need to be if my husband and I were to both decide to adopt a baby boy or baby girl. Or twin babys. Or foster them. But we can provide a safe, clean and loving home for a child with a bedroom all to themselves. And room to sleep, play and study for school when they are older. And a nice big yard to play outside. And provide according to their needs to the best of our ability. Plus my husband has a very large family and siblings lots of cousins and 2nd cousins he is close to that are kids and I have young nephew and nieces. So any child we are blessed with will be happily received and loved by this big family who supports one another and is there for each other. And they will have young cousins to grow up with. Do mosy start out as foster parents and sometimes decide to adopt the one they have fostered? How much does it cost to adopt those fostered in Alabama? And what are the requirements of being a foster parent? Is the cost the same no matter how young or old the child is? If we were to adopt a baby, and I decide to either only work part time or be a stay at home mom for a couple of years since my husband works full time, is that an issue that an adoption agency will have any problems with? Im sure they do a criminal record, and my husband and I have a clean record and have not been in trouble with the law. We also do not allow drugs or alcohol in our home. We are highly against it. Neither of us has any children. And I'm in my 30s. And we have been married for 17 years. And we are in good health. I imagine that it's hard to find adoption for a newborn baby boy and newborn baby girl, so is it best to fill out a form as soon as possible and get on a waiting list for adoption or fostering? And how many months will go by before a social worker would come out to your home to see your home and the provided room you have for a child? What are some questions we can be expected to ask and what all does a social worker look for in both the house and the potential adoptive parents? Do they require you to make a certain yearly income? Any information you can give me or send me by email I would greatly appreciate. I have a gmail account and can msg you if you give me your email. Or perhaps share a link to a page I can read about what to do and who to call? Thank you so much for your time. And I hope these little Angel's all find a home where they are safe and loved and given a chance for a great future and a family to support them along the way.
What about wanting to adopt a kid anywhere from age 2-7 years old? Is it possible to foster them first and then fully adopt them? Is it possible to adopt a kid 2-7 years old without fostering them first as well? Are all kids who are in the foster care system have parents and or family who are alive or are any kids in the system kids with no living family at all?
Yes that’s actually pretty common, sometimes the parent or the social worker will offer you to adopt the child if you have a good connection and are a good fit for that kid
Assistance for childbirth on the premise of giving up your child feels incredible unethical. Are there similar assistances available for parents who choose to keep their child?
This is an older video so I’m trying to remember what you are referring to…in infant adoption, adoptive parents typically will help with medical assistance for the birth mom who has chosen them to parent her child. If the birth mom changes her mind after giving birth (which I completely think she deserves that right), the adoptive parents don’t get any of that back, so in essence that bio mom did get assistance. In foster care adoption, the bio parents lost parental rights due to ongoing neglect and abuse. Foster parents who adopt these children are often given some financial assistance to help care for their child’s needs, including different types of therapy and activities to help them overcome some of the trauma they have experienced. Foster care adoption fills a big need and is more financially accessible for most parents.
Do you know if there is a way for an American to adopt an Italian child if I have dual citizenship? Or as an ordinary American without dual citizenship?
Hmm...I'm not sure on that one! I mostly help families adopt from the US foster care system. I haven't actually heard of an American adopting from Italy before, so you might want to research agencies that have Italy programs to see if there are any. Best of luck on your search!
Yes, because you already have a relationship with them! Even a teacher adopting one of their students would count as kinship because there was a previous relationship.
As long as her newborn isn’t in the custody of CPS for some reason, you can most likely go through an adoption attorney! I would look for some in your area and see if they have free consultations.
You will want to look for an agency in your state that does “foster to adopt” or “waiting child adoptions.” Different states call it different things. You can also call your county’s job and family services first, but many prefer to find an agency that also helps facilitate adoptions from other states. It is more rare to adopt a child that is 2 or 3 in this way, but definitely not impossible. A lot will depend on if you are open to adopting that child with an older sibling or if you are open to adopting a child with some special needs.
Unfortunately, yes...although the hospital bills in the US are definitely quite expensive. I agree that adoption should be more accessible, but in infant adoption a lot of that money is actually going towards supporting the birth mom...sometimes helping with rent, medical bills, etc. The agency needs to be paid for providing the home study service and matching as well. However, it is pretty insane how much it costs to adopt!
My gf nd I wanna adopt maybe two lol girls so they can be sisters for our lil 3 yo , I’m 24, she is 23 . I’ll be buying my second house this year a bigger one , we are looking in the ages of 5-6 is it harder ?
Like the American adoption system is any better than any other country. The same problems if you have looked behind the curtain of the American system. Just more greed in the American system, and more money for the human traffickers. No difference at all. The only way adoption should work is flat fee with no astronomical prices and make sure the families are stable. That doesn't cost that much. A camera to do the home recording is like 100 bucks. A person to review it for approval only 200-300$ worth of man hours. Thats for America and thats cheap.
2:46 this sounds an awful lot like child trafficking. I would like to adopt a child I do not mind the police doing criminal records checks or other people from say, child welfare or whomever federal government employee needs to look at the residence. I have no specifications as to color of the child I see life having far too many youngins without a legal guardian as they lost their moms and dads in car accidents or the parent just could not keep up with rent, food, clothing. I have a cat my cat eats before I eat but at the same time, my cat always has access to outside he has total; freedom we've had our talk he knows he is his own puddytat
Uh, hi. I'm not actually trying to adopt. But as a nonprofessional writer/artist, I have this female character that happens to take care of a preteen girl that used to be homeless. Now that I'm attempting to go deeper in how this happened, it turns out I have no idea of how adoption works. I'm in no way looking to disrespect you, would appreciate if you could give me a little notion about adoption of homeless children. If you are not comfortable with it, I'll understand it and delete my comment right away! Thanks!
There are almost 1 million unborn babies killed in the US every year. There are more than enough adoptive families that could save the lives of those sweet souls. Keep pushing for change.
Completely disagree. We don't need anymore unwanted children in this world. We have so many already los t in the system and way too mmy people have no business having kids. It's also expensive for tax payers.
@@dee20221 what are you talking about? Maybe you live ina a different world or country. In US, roughly 20,000 kids age out of foster care every year. Are you mentally OK?
@RosettaStoned462 What does that have to do with this topic? The purpose of foster care is reunification with their family. Nearly all kids in foster care will never be available for adoption as their family works to get them back. Your lack of understanding in this topic is not surprising, but it should be a sign for you to educate yourself before making any comments about it.
That's sad. So many children need love and have a price for their souls. So many are trap in these places that don't really help the children. People are not property to be sold like property.
I totally agree. I wish the process of adoption wasn’t so expensive. We adopted from foster care because we knew we wanted to adopt, but the other routes didn’t seem financially feasible. There are definitely corrupt situations, but there is also a lot of complexity to why adoptions are so costly. With infant adoption, a lot of money often goes to helping the birth mother with medical expenses or even living expenses, which can add up. With international adoption, you have documentation traveling from one country to another, needing to be translated. Oftentimes workers from your agency will need to travel to the country to help make arrangements. You need attorneys to help with making the adoption legal…etc. I wish there was an easier solution!
To me that is actually buying a baby. We pay taxes, so this should be covered by government, as we are keeping these kids away from foster care, even if they come direct from a birth parent. I adopted 2 girls, in my country, after giving birth to 3 boys. The ONLY fee I had to pay, was for their new birth certificates, and that was about $1 US dollar. So to me, when I hear about these fees, it feels like buying a baby. And I am afraid now for one of my sons, as we move away from our country, and now he wants to adopt… but these fees make it almost unattainable to him…

Appreciate this video. Thinking about adoption but theres not many good videos about it.
Great content! Very helpful information thank you!
What agency did you go through? We are really really looking into adopting a child!
Very informative.. thank you 👍
Just no idea how any of this even works!
We need help/ advice on how to do this adoption thing.

Very helpful, thank you!
Also post adoption support!
@@adoptinformedthank you! I was thinking the same thing about the online public school thing too!
Very informative video, thank you for taking the time... I didn’t know where to start. Off topic question, what is your color paint name?? Is a true gret which is hard to get.
It is Sherwin Williams light French Gray! We love it!
I love my home, too.

I believe it would be more complicated and more red tapes involved 😢
Thank you!
If you live in the US and have a green card there can be a slightly different process depending on your state but it’s not impossible from what I understand!
@@adoptinformed thanks ❤️
I have custody of a baby. I know the birth mom. I want to adopt, but I don’t know what paperwork to file. Mom and Dad are not going to contest the adoption. Can anyone point me into the right direction?
What I learned in this video is that the government & adoptive agencies own the kids & they just do whatever rules. I say this cuz it seems that all the process is just toooo long & EXPENSIVE.😳
When people get pregnant they have their kids in any situation & they adapt their lives to their new member of the family.
I’m a happily single mom of one and feel a tug to adopt. Are single parents able to adopt?
Yes, absolutely! A lot of single parents adopt :)

I'm 19 bout 2 be 20 this year I'm still looking 4 my own apartment 😊 but i wanna adopt a daughter
If my best friends mom has custody of her grandson decides she does not want to adopt him and I do would that me a kinship adoption?
Yes, because you already have a relationship with them! Even a teacher adopting one of their students would count as kinship because there was a previous relationship.
I have a question so my sister wants to let me adopt her newborn what is the process we have to start at
As long as her newborn isn’t in the custody of CPS for some reason, you can most likely go through an adoption attorney! I would look for some in your area and see if they have free consultations.
How do my wife and I go about doing fostering a waiting child? And could we adopt a baby, young toddler (like 2 or 3 years old) this way?
You will want to look for an agency in your state that does “foster to adopt” or “waiting child adoptions.” Different states call it different things. You can also call your county’s job and family services first, but many prefer to find an agency that also helps facilitate adoptions from other states. It is more rare to adopt a child that is 2 or 3 in this way, but definitely not impossible. A lot will depend on if you are open to adopting that child with an older sibling or if you are open to adopting a child with some special needs.
I don't mind the Consultation fee , I would like to know if u can help me
You can schedule a consultation at adoptinformed.com or email me with questions at katie@adoptinformed.com :)
I really want to adopt. I can't raise and love my own baby knowing that there is another baby or even child or kid is out there needing to be loved.
😂😂😂❤. Nice video..😅😅😂❤❤.
It’s crazy that anyone getting pregnant is free, but buying a kid is $$$$$+.
Yez 😍😍😍

My gf nd I wanna adopt maybe two lol girls so they can be sisters for our lil 3 yo , I’m 24, she is 23 . I’ll be buying my second house this year a bigger one , we are looking in the ages of 5-6 is it harder ?
It is a little harder to adopt younger kids, but not impossible. If you are open to adopting two siblings that makes it a lot more likely!
@@adoptinformed so siblings are easier to adopt , yea I wouldn’t mind that
Like the American adoption system is any better than any other country.
We are looking adopting child plz hepl us
2:46 this sounds an awful lot like child trafficking.
Thanks!

The other thing is if a mother and father want to willingly give their child to a family member it should be free and no say on the governments part.

@@RosettaStoned462 Incorrect. There are 0 unwanted children. What a ridiculous comment you made.
@@dee20221 what are you talking about? Maybe you live ina a different world or country. In US, roughly 20,000 kids age out of foster care every year. Are you mentally OK?
@@dee20221 do you live in a different world? In the US, roughly 20,000 kids age out of foster care every year.
And I am afraid now for one of my sons, as we move away from our country, and now he wants to adopt… but these fees make it almost unattainable to him…
JESUS CHRIST is coming repent guys ❤️🩹. Just sharing the gospel
