Hikaru is such a delight to spectate. Very skilled and with no vainglory. It’s funny to me how sensitive these comments are. It goes to show that when someone is simply being calm and neutral without simpering to comfort and put literally everyone at ease then someone will find a way to be offended because of their own reactivity. He was polite, broke no social rules, and was objective and respectful.
I see all the comments about Hikaru seeming rude to Anna etc. but if you watch Hikaru in his plays he always carries that same expression and demeanour, he isn’t one to chat a lot or shit talk. He’s just focused. And throughout the game I kept seeing him having that slight smile so you can tell he is enjoying himself (though of course this is not even a challenge to him). And he did occasionally tell Anna which moves are good or not. I don’t think we can expect all GMs to be effervescent. Didn’t feel like Hikaru was treating Anna any differently than others. That said I agree that Anna asking if he was number 2 or 3 was unnecessary and repeating it again at the end. And maybe Hikaru could have given more feedback to her at the end to help her improve her game in future and recap some moves - but yeah does seem he wasn’t interested on that end
Just because he is annoyed for his own reasons, does not mean that asking a simple question based on facts makes it unnecessary. She is a RUclipsr and she wanted to introduce him to the audience that doesn't know him. Simple as that. And if he is annoyed then why does he compete? She is so far lower than him, it would be like her playing me. Zero chance of winning, I would be wasting her time. I understand she plays people who are pathetic like me all the time but those are set up situations. If I ran into her in a hotel, with a chessboard and clock, she may not be that excited to play me.
@@dougustine And yet Fabi had 100x the enthusiasm in their match together
I think he just doesn't like being called like a number 2nd or 3rd in the world, but just that he is Hikaru. I mean everyone knows that, so there's no need. Like Anna knows that he is either second or third in the world or something like that, it's not that important truly which, maybe even fourth or fifth, but the point that he is at the very top, that's it, so the question is pointless. I think Hikaru simply has metaphorically speaking less of a mask. Hikaru liked talking about which move was good and not, and he helped Anna, but then she just continued saying to him about being the second or third in the world, you could clearly see that he didn't appreciate this praising in front of everybody from facial reactions, and Anna shouldn't have said it again, just keep it chill simple, talking about the moves or whatever, Anna needs to match the energy sometimes better, when you play someone more chill, you have to also be more chill, Anna, you always have the same energy levels of reactions with all people, so of course you will ran into energy mismatches if you continue like that. Best of luck, love
@@dougustine More people making excuses for the fact that, for whatever reason, it's always been clear he's not keen on Anna.
@@CosyBrew She shouldn't press his buttons then. She knows he doesn't appreciate being talked about like that, he just wants to play the game. Unknowingly or not, she put him down as "number 2 or 3", as in that he hasn't been nor would be number 1. Every chess player that's gifted but not named Magnus Carlsen in this era has already heard a million times over. Meanwhile, he can't criticize her because she's so far out of his league, it would be the same as if you or me were playing a toddler. And that's why he declined a rematch. There's nothing to gain for him.
“So you’re the 2nd best in the world right” … and he took that personally
There is a lot of tension in this video indeed. I admire Anna for publishing the video because of the feeling of discomfort that comes along with it. People normally wanna see the smooth, funny stuff because that feels safe and comfortable
Safe? Hahahaha. They are playing chess. Get real, good lord
Hikaru's name still brings clicks. She's just another female chess grifter who farms views from desperate nerds who play chess.
He cooked, served, ate and left no crumbs.

"have you spent time preparing for this game ?"
well duh, his whole life pretty much, the guy's a super gm
Do you wanna play another?
Hikaru: nah ive seen enough

I think Hikaru is the only one opponent that never fall into Anna's charming spirit. It was so quiet and silent and cut out her questions 😂 thanks for sharing
she made him think for more than one second TWICE
Severely outmatched. You can see the difference between a WFM and a super GM.
He could literally play 10 blindfolded games simultaneously without breaking a sweat. He destroys lower GM's like nothing. Hard to imagine how good he is.. and Magnus beats him
He only fears Thanos, and he's chilling in Norway. Everything else is just going through the motions.

“that random guy call Fabiano”what a savage 😂😂
It’s pretty ridiculous he can move instantly against a 2000 rated player and have her pieces totally tied up and badly coordinated.
In fairness, as soon as her book ended she had a terrible position then blundered over and over. She played terrible even for 3/2
Basically a waste of his time... like playing against a 2 year old
I tune in once in a while when youtube reminds me but it seems as Anna is getting better overtime playing against some of the great chess players. I will say I enjoy the content as it's straight to the point and clean.
His concentration in speed chess, particularly blitz and bullet formats, is unmatched. His ability to think quickly and accurately under immense time pressure sets him apart from many other top players.
On the bright side, he only had 18 seconds more than he started with at the end 🙂
Aweee Hikaru gets sooo shy when its not his camera lol
That went exactly as expected. Absolutely not surprise.
As a relative beginner, it's amazing to me that there are players higher rated than Hikaru. He's a savage.
Magnus Carlsen is actually only one man, not many. So… no, there aren’t players higher rated
Well, he played like there was only one minute left on the clock, so she already got exactly what she wanted.

He probably feels a little salty that someone 1 millionth his equal can rival his popularity by being pretty (he is not) and having a good personality (he does not). Fabi, on the other hand, has matured beyond the mindset of a 6 year-old and is happy to share the spotlight.
