@@DiscoverDermatologythank you for your response, will it be still effective if i only take zinc orally and apply topical 40% urea cream to exfoliate the wart?
Hi Ashwajit, thats a good question. I tend to combine zinc with other modalities whether there is just one or there are many. Trying to get the persons immune system to clear the warts is the best principle. For children, I would use topical imiquimod or 5Flourouracil/Salicylic acid with oral zinc. In adults, I would use the above and try and cry a few of the bigger warts. Using physical therapies like cryotherapy, lasers or electrocautery alone tends to result in a recurrence. Combing with topical agents and oral Zinc may be a useful combination.
I am going to follow this in my clinic. But 10mg per kg may have acceptance problems. Here it is available in 50mg capsules. If the dosage is 600mg than the number of capsules will be 12 per day.
I usually use a much smaller dose as high doses causes gastric side effects as you rightly mentioned. I tend to use Zinc about 50 to 100mg a day if the person can tolerate it. Also use topical agents like imiquimod with it
Hello Doctor. Thank you for your video. Please can you suggest a brand/company for all the zinc products you talk about (oral and topic)? Also, I try to find zinc sulphate 220mg, but the ingredients will say 50mg zinc. What is the difference? Thank you!
Solvazinc is the usual treatment we use in the UK. You are right, it has about 45mg of elemental zinc in the 125mg tablets. Very high doses cause side effects so using Solvazinc 2 or 3 times a day is a pragmatic dose.
Trying this. I got my facial flat warts lasered off a week ago. But i have tiny ones left and some on my neck area. And im into a week of taking zinc (gluconate) i tried 3 days 50mg to see my tolerance and now 100mg. Noticing some slight stomach issues but nothing severe. I hope i can see results in 7 weeks. Plane and flat warts are more or less the same - they tend to be skin coloured, barely raised above the surface and difficult to spot. Common warts are rough raised and easy to see, like many of the warts seen in the video.
Hello Doctor, I have a couple of questions. 1. Are flat warts comtagious regarless of their size ? tiny ones especially. 2. Is there an effective way/completely kill off warts on surfaces, especially towels and bedhseets ? Thank you.
All viral warts, including plane warts are caused by human papilloma virus, so they are contagious. Washing all clothes in hot water may help but they are not complete fool proof.
@@DiscoverDermatologywhat about for internal vaginal warts? I assume that salicylic acid would not be good to apply in that case. But I could be wrong lol!😊

It is worthwhile combining any topical agent with oral Zinc as it seems to have a stimulant effect on the immune system. Using the combination of oral Zinc with tocjial agents may give a better chance of success against viral warts.
