Christians should understand why it will be jesus and not Muhammad peace be upon him. Islam tells us every person who was born on earth must die and depart however jesus did not die on the cross and was not killed and was lifted to up to the heavens by Allah, there for he must return and defeat the evil and bring back peace and justice before eventually dying and being buried. A muslim co-worker of mine (awesome, fascinating man) explained to me just today that Muslims believe in a second coming of Jesus. This was incredibly shocking to me, I had no idea they believed this and thought it was only a Christian belief. Muslims are much more similar to Christians than many people realize.

For me this is one of so many proofs of Muhammad's (PBUH) honesty, an imposter would have promised his followers that he not a former prophet would return near the end of time to lead his believers.
Even before our prophet (pbuh) was made a Messenger by the Almighty, he was unanimously called "the truthful and trustworthy" by the pagan Arabs of his hometown. But when he called them to give up their idolatry and corruption and believe in the one true Master of the universe, they persecuted him and his few followers.
Clearly Mohammad took a lot of things from the bible to sound like a genuine prophet and gave a little twist so that it would sound unique. Yes Jesus will return to Earth but no he will not be a Muslim and he will take his true Christian followers with him and to the rest he will say "I never knew you, depart from me workers of lawlessness".

Even without reading any hadith, the Qur'an is enough to make anyone with a brain understand that Jesus (as) the son of Mary is coming back. The Qur'an is every clear that Jesus (as) didn't die but rather Allah raised him unto himself. Also Allah commands very clearly that every soul must go through Maut (death) hence if Jesus (as) didn't die and he has a soul, logic follows that he must come back and finish Allah's command..

For the subject matter, I would like to bring to your attention that an end of time story cannot be considered an article of faith for the Muslims as those are clearly defined in the Quran itself. One would not imagine that an Article of Faith can be missed out in the Quran and not explicitly and repeatedly stressed on in it, as definitely is the case with the other articles of faith, namely believing in Allah as the Only God, His Angels, books, messengers, the judgment day, and His predestination.

You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. Follow the next verse 5:117 I said to them nothing except what You commanded me, that is: 'Serve Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' I watched over them as long as I remained among them; and when You did recall me, then You Yourself became the Watcher over them. Indeed, You are Witness over everything. This verse clearly indicates that, Jesus Peace be upon him is saying, I have no idea what these people did after when You raised me up. You should read , Surah Al Imran and surah Maida , specially these verses by yourself. The knowledge about day of judgement is revealed neither to any Prophet nor to any Angel. Only Allah knows when the day of judgement will come, Quran says reference to Qayamah is only given from Allah. Jesus ( Peace be upon him) is among the Great Prophets. He was rewarded with great gifts from Allah, Yet majority people disbelieved in Jesus like people disbelieved in other Prophets. Allah never changes His rules. Hadiths are necessary but no Hadith can change the core understanding and meaning of Quranic verses, Quran is the judge of previous Holly Books and Hadith. Correct me if I am wrong.

8:28 I think this verse is surah 19 ayat 33 right? My question about the interpretation presented by some people here would be what about earlier in the same surah ayat 15 in reference to John? I know the wording is slightly different but they are very similar. I always thought the end of both these Ayats were references to the Day of Judgement, but Allah (swt) knows best.

I would like to clarify that based on Alazhar institute, an Islamic authority , the belief in the second coming of Jesus is not an article of faith because there is no absolute connotation ( قطعى الدلالة )from Quran and Sunnah to agree about this belief. In Islamic jurisprudence , any debatable belief is not considered an article of faith in the meaning, if you don’t believe in the second coming of Jesus you are a full believer and not a disbeliever. In Sura Al-Maida verses 116 & 117 - Allah is quoting a dialogue which the Lord will have with Jesus, which clearly points to no second coming of Jesus. I append below English translation of these two verses. Surat Al-Mā'idah (116) And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. Surat Al-Mā'idah (117) I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. What happened to Jesus pbuh is that he was put on the cross, and on the cross, Allah took his soul (the word "Muttawafika" means death or taking of the soul). From this we can conclude that Allah SWT took his soul and "made it appear so" that he died, where in fact he didn't, rather Allah took his soul. When Allah SWT takes the soul of a person, he can do 2 things, Keep it (in which the person has officially died) or return it (in which the person hasn't died). Quran 39:42 "˹It is˺ Allah ˹Who˺ calls back the souls ˹of people˺ upon their death as well as ˹the souls˺ of the living during their sleep. (IMPORTANT PART) Then He keeps those for whom He has ordained death, and releases the others until ˹their˺ appointed time. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect." Simply, Allah took his soul on the cross, made it appear as if he died, then returned it when he was in the cave and, "raised him up to himself." We also know from the Quran that 29:57 "Every soul will taste death, then to Us you will ˹all˺ be returned." Given this knowledge, we can understand using logic that he must return in order to taste death.

The reason why Jesus pbuh was chosen to come back and not Muhammad pbuh is to convince all the Christians to become Muslims at the end times. I think you should stop talking out of ignorance. Jesus is alive and well in the heavens not bounded by mortality YET. Read the full narrative: when The Messiah returns, he is going to spend the rest of his life as a guide of the people and then die a normal death. The Quran says every soul shall taste death. for me too i am also converted to islam. my parents were muslims however, islam is not inherited automatically from generations to generations. so i converted to islam from the time i started to learn and understand it. every generation has to do its own research and learning

Hey Paul... thanks for sharing this. I was not aware of the many similarities between Islam and Christianity regarding the second coming of Jesus. As a Christian believer, I don't believe Jesus will die again. On the cross, Jesus said "It is finished" and although that statement can be interpreted in different ways, I think it certainly points to His death 2,000 years ago as being complete.
Jesus is still alive and he is one of god's mightiest miracles and he will kill the National-christ and establish a kingdom of peace and justice but he WILL die because he never did previously and as a creation of god he is destined to eventually die just like all creations will eventually perish and only the creator will remain before he resurrecting us all to be judged on judgement day.
Read Revelations and what Jesus spoke about when it comes to the end of the world in the Gospels. Very important to really know what will happen before the end comes and Jesus returns. God bless
Hi Paul, how can Muslims take Jesus' return as article of Faith as it is not mentioned in the Quran? Moreover, just because the Jews didn't kill or crucify Jesus...how does this imply from Quran that he is still alive? If the article of Faith is taken from Hadith then where is the limit to this?
Assuming we aren't into hadith science ourselves its incumbent on us to find trusted sources that can inform us on the authenticity of the hadiths. If they are graded authentic we should believe and follow them.
I love the dual meanings of many texts in Islamic literature. I can’t think of many examples now but one good one was mentioned by brother Paul with regards to Jesus; God brought him up to Himself - Meaning God “saved” Jesus - Meaning God could have intentionally raised the status of Jesus to the level of God as there is Christianity today. Only those who are true to God’s religion would understand this. Wallahu’alam.

Hello Paul, I just wanted to add one evidence in 3-46, the Ayat states that Jesus will speak to people in the cradle and "Kahlan" which is defined in Arabic as an age range beyond youth, some say 30-50, 35-55 others 40-60. We all know (historically) that Jesus was raised at roughly 33 years, which is just before the beginning of that age range! Noting that all English interpretations translate it as "of age", "manhood" ,"adult" or "maturity"! Maturity in the Quran is 40!

Christians should understand why it will be jesus and not Muhammad peace be upon him. Islam tells us every person who was born on earth must die and depart however jesus did not die on the cross and was not killed and was lifted to up to the heavens by Allah, there for he must return and defeat the evil and bring back peace and justice before eventually dying and being buried. And of course one of his major tasks is to defeat the anti Christ who we call dajjal. It would have made sense for msulims to claim that Muhammad peace upon him would be returning instead of Jesus peace be upon him but it do t work like that on Islam. Once we are told the truth we dont change it. We welcome the arrival of one of the best prophets in Islam jesus (ISA) peace be upon him. Oh fellow Christians use your logic dont turn a man into god or son of God you have no right to do that.

A muslim co-worker of mine (awesome, fascinating man) explained to me just today that Muslims believe in a second coming of Jesus. This was incredibly shocking to me, I had no idea they believed this and thought it was only a Christian belief. Muslims are much more similar to Christians than many people realize.
Jesus peace be upon him is a mighty prophet and a miraculous birth, he will be the one to kill the anti-christ and he will establish a kingdom of justice but christianity corrupted his message and ended worshipping him and that's against everything he preached through out the Bible

“But this, saith He, is life eternal, that they may know Thee [the Father] the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom Thou hast sent. The [proper] order of the words is: “That Thee [the Father] and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent, they may know to be the only true God.”
The clear and emphatic unitarian message of John 17:3 was far too disagreeable to Augustine that he was willing to completely MUTILATE what was there in the scripture. And he was NOT ALONE in such an irresponsible enterprise.

Even without reading any hadith, the Qur'an is enough to make anyone with a brain understand that Jesus (as) the son of Mary is coming back. The Qur'an is every clear that Jesus (as) didn't die but rather Allah raised him unto himself. Also Allah commands very clearly that every soul must go through Maut (death) hence if Jesus (as) didn't die and he has a soul, logic follows that he must come back and finish Allah's command..

For the subject matter, I would like to bring to your attention that an end of time story cannot be considered an article of faith for the Muslims as those are clearly defined in the Quran itself. One would not imagine that an Article of Faith can be missed out in the Quran and not explicitly and repeatedly stressed on in it, as definitely is the case with the other articles of faith, namely believing in Allah as the Only God, His Angels, books, messengers, the judgment day, and His predestination.

This's a very clear that Jesus will come to live to his old age, as the word (كهلا/Kahlán) in Arabic describe a person in his 50s and 60s of age, as Īssa (Jesus PBUH) didn't live to that age on earth yet.

It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
Follow the next verse
5:117 I said to them nothing except what You commanded me, that is: 'Serve Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' I watched over them as long as I remained among them; and when You did recall me, then You Yourself became the Watcher over them. Indeed, You are Witness over everything.
This verse clearly indicates that, Jesus Peace be upon him is saying, I have no idea what these people did after when You raised me up.

The knowledge about day of judgement is revealed neither to any Prophet nor to any Angel. Only Allah knows when the day of judgement will come, Quran says reference to Qayamah is only given from Allah.
Jesus ( Peace be upon him) is among the Great Prophets. He was rewarded with great gifts from Allah, Yet majority people disbelieved in Jesus like people disbelieved in other Prophets. Allah never changes His rules.
Hadiths are necessary but no Hadith can change the core understanding and meaning of Quranic verses, Quran is the judge of previous Holly Books and Hadith.

8:28 I think this verse is surah 19 ayat 33 right? My question about the interpretation presented by some people here would be what about earlier in the same surah ayat 15 in reference to John? ( قطعى الدلالة )from Quran and Sunnah to agree about this belief. In Islamic jurisprudence , any debatable belief is not considered an article of faith in the meaning, if you don’t believe in the second coming of Jesus you are a full believer and not a disbeliever.

To the best of my humble knowledge, the Holly Quran is very clear on this issue. In Sura Al-Maida verses 116 & 117 - Allah is quoting a dialogue which the Lord will have with Jesus, which clearly points to no second coming of Jesus. I append below English translation of these two verses.
Surat Al-Mā'idah (116)
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
Surat Al-Mā'idah (117)
I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.

What happened to Jesus pbuh is that he was put on the cross, and on the cross, Allah took his soul (the word "Muttawafika" means death or taking of the soul). From this we can conclude that Allah SWT took his soul and "made it appear so" that he died, where in fact he didn't, rather Allah took his soul. When Allah SWT takes the soul of a person, he can do 2 things, Keep it (in which the person has officially died) or return it (in which the person hasn't died). Quran 39:42 "˹It is˺ Allah ˹Who˺ calls back the souls ˹of people˺ upon their death as well as ˹the souls˺ of the living during their sleep. (IMPORTANT PART) Then He keeps those for whom He has ordained death, and releases the others until ˹their˺ appointed time. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect." Simply, Allah took his soul on the cross, made it appear as if he died, then returned it when he was in the cave and, "raised him up to himself." We also know from the Quran that 29:57 "Every soul will taste death, then to Us you will ˹all˺ be returned." Given this knowledge, we can understand using logic that he must return in order to taste death.

The reason why Jesus pbuh was chosen to come back and not Muhammad pbuh is to convince all the Christians to become Muslims at the end times. By the end time, Christianity will be the 2nd most practiced religion. It will be much more of an influence than bringing back Muhammad pbuh or Moses pbuh I think.
I think you should stop talking out of ignorance. Jesus is alive and well in the heavens not bounded by mortality YET. Read the full narrative: when The Messiah returns, he is going to spend the rest of his life as a guide of the people and then die a normal death. The Quran says every soul shall taste death. Even the Prophets (Muhammad, Jesus) as well as the Holy Spirit (Gabriel).
for me too i am also converted to islam. my parents were muslims however, islam is not inherited automatically from generations to generations. so i converted to islam from the time i started to learn and understand it. every generation has to do its own research and learning

That verse is a strong proof that the coming of Jesus won’t happen. Which automatically cancels out the dajjal which I believe is a hoax. I find it very strange that a great fitna as the dajjal is not mentioned in the Quran.

Jesus in the so called gospels never said that he is coming back. He spoke of the coming of the son of man more than 80 times. He was foretelling the coming of Muhammad, the son of man, to establish the kingdom of God on earth. Read "Jesus the Son of the Father: The New Testament from Islamic and cultural prespectives" . The second coming of Jesus in Islam maybe a misunderstanding of the prophecies of Jesus concerning the coming of Muhammad

Hey Paul... thanks for sharing this. I was not aware of the many similarities between Islam and Christianity regarding the second coming of Jesus. As a Christian believer, I don't believe Jesus will die again. On the cross, Jesus said "It is finished" and although that statement can be interpreted in different ways, I think it certainly points to His death 2,000 years ago as being complete.
The problem is Jesus never died..not in the cross
Jesus is still alive and he is one of god's mightiest miracles and he will kill the National-christ and establish a kingdom of peace and justice but he WILL die because he never did previously and as a creation of god he is destined to eventually die just like all creations will eventually perish and only the creator will remain before he resurrecting us all to be judged on judgement day.

Hi Paul, how can Muslims take Jesus' return as article of Faith as it is not mentioned in the Quran? Moreover, just because the Jews didn't kill or crucify Jesus...how does this imply from Quran that he is still alive? If the article of Faith is taken from Hadith then where is the limit to this?
Assuming we aren't into hadith science ourselves its incumbent on us to find trusted sources that can inform us on the authenticity of the hadiths. If they are graded authentic we should believe and follow them.
I love the dual meanings of many texts in Islamic literature. I can’t think of many examples now but one good one was mentioned by brother Paul with regards to Jesus;

Hello Paul, I just wanted to add one evidence in 3-46, the Ayat states that Jesus will speak to people in the cradle and "Kahlan" which is defined in Arabic as an age range beyond youth, some say 30-50, 35-55 others 40-60. We all know (historically) that Jesus was raised at roughly 33 years, which is just before the beginning of that age range! Noting that all English interpretations translate it as "of age", "manhood" ,"adult" or "maturity"! Maturity in the Quran is 40!
