Suggestion for the next video: Xerox research center inventing the desktop environment, Steve Jobs visiting the center and prompltly having an aneurysm by realizing that the company sat on the future of computing without doing anything, and immediately proceeding on copying Xerox and subsequently releasing the Macintosh. Bill Gates did the same through hiring former Xerox employees, leading to the release of Windows. Jobs filed a lawsuit accusing Gates of stealing, to which Gates responded: “It seems more like we had a wealthy neighbor named Xerox together, and when I broke into his house to take the TV, I discovered that you had already taken it”.
You left out the fact that Jobs and Xerox agreed and signed a contract. Of which Jobs clearly ended benefiting more, but equally clearly that ain't exactly stealing. Somehow I don't recall Gates signing anything with Xerox.
There's a really good german made movie about this feud called: "Duell der Brüder". Also the book "Sneaker Wars" is about this story as well. Highly recommend both.

The BBC did a great podcast called Sneakernomics (if you can put up with the dramatisation) that covers the Dassler brothers feud and Nike, Reebok and Asics origins.
I think Rudolf was called Puma for some reason before puma even became a company. There were series like 10 years ago about this and the olympics in 1936
Nope, the Adidas vs Puma feud was the real one. It is still there today, but not that extreme anymore, i grew up near their HQs (that were pretty close to each other) and you could get into real trouble for showing up with the wrong shoes for work there. Not sure if you still can get fired upon wearing pumas at adidas HQ, but back then that was a real thing.
I once spend a few days as a tour guide with a couple who knew the Dassler family quite well. They told me that it was the brother's wives who actually causes the discord between them.
Brilliant. I lived for a while about a 10-minute drive from their headquarters in Frauenauracht in Bavaria. You can't make this up. Same thing happened with the Grohe brothers. Why are Germans such jerks?
Ever thought of doing long format videos to teach people about finance, investing, how the economy works etc ? Any chance we can see your 9 News bits on RUclips or somewhere else for free ? I don’t live in Austria 🤷♂️
@@ankurmehrotra6506 Adidas was formed after the war, 1949 I think, same year as the BRD. Adolf and his brother Rudolf started making sports shoes in the Twenties. In 1936 the brothers were still working together as Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. After the war, they had a falling out, and Adolf started Adidas, Rudolf started Puma. While you are technically correct, saying 'Owens ran in Adidas shoes' is a shortcut to indicating that Owens used a German shoe brand without having to explain about the connection between Dassler (which nobody knows) and Adidas (which everybody knows).

Love that last anecdote. Brilliant retort.

Do people in Australia say soccer? I thought this was an USA thing…?
Association football was first called "soccer" for short in England to differentiate it from rugby or "rugger"
Yes, because Australia has its own form of hand ball called football
Should look up biggest hits or knocks or fights of Australian Football 1990s
