  • On Monday, July 27, 2015 the Center for Global Affairs hosted a conversation between Ian Bremmer, President of Eurasia Group, and Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary and co-host of Fox News' "The Five," about three versions of American superpower and which might be most effective in the 21st Century.
    Event Description:
What role should the U.S. play internationally?
In his new book Superpower, Eurasia Group president Ian Bremmer suggests that Washington's foreign policy strategy has been incoherent since the end of the Cold War and describes three paths for American engagement abroad. As more candidates for the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election enter the field, what direction might each choose, and what could this mean for the next stage of U.S. foreign policy?

Ian needs more discipline when he talks. He is all over the place.

I am baffled by NYU. you brought in one of the best brains of Ge-politics to opine. Yet, you chose a Political Hack (Dana Perino) to be a moderator. I would have preferred a Professor who could have had a meaningful back and forth with Bremmer. Dana Perino is just a "jouarnlist" (Spin Doctor) all she knows how to do is ask about headlines.

+Eric Sami I think you are being a bit rough...how much more detailed would you want to go? What sort of questions would you have preferred her to ask...at least she isn't some Chinese official...like some people posting

+Shift Z Channel She is fox news hack. who makes money by engaging in the washing spin game. you should brought a serious academic who Challenged Ian with intangibles. not simply posing the same b.s followups that folks in the media do all the time. her entire mantra is Washington insider. She did not challenged on Ian's prediction that Iran will be closer to the U.S in the long run than Saudis (I happen to agree with it). but she did not even have the knowledge base to make an alternative argument. She did not have the knowledge to challenge Ian on Chinese espionage question. for all intents and purposes a second year political scientist student would have asked better questions.

I am not sure if you have an inability to read carefully. My objection is not her political leanings (whatever they are). my objection is that she was chosen because she was imply eye candy. she had nothing of substance to say that any other political hack from nytimes, msnbc, cnn could have repeated. just standard talking points in Washington establishment. now you bring some body like birzinsky or Kissinger. I am gone probably disagree with them but the discussion would be intellectually rigorous.

Perino is absolutely terrible! Far too much opinion and not enough intelligent dialogue. She comes across as narrow minded, loud and ill informed. Bremmer has a brilliant mind.
