"Who in 2009 was buying a 360 for the first time just to play ODST?"
Me lol
Well, not just to play ODST. But right when I was looking to buy a console, they released the Elite bundle that included ODST and the Pure/Lego Batman dual game. Pretty awesome deal at the time.
Pure is still by far one of the best most genuine racing games I've played to date! That bundle was incredible!
@@MasterChiefsSmurf THANK YOU. I'm glad someone else thinks so! Pure definitely doesn't get the praise it deserves.
I also have that dual game bundle, bought it to play Pure cause I liked the MX vs ATV games
I have the pure Lego Batman bundle that’s epic bro
@@alexanderedwards4617 My best friend and I played the hell out of it back then!! It's over the top style worked for it so damn well!
6:34 Imagine you get a rare ODST themed Xbox 360 and you play it for around 2 years just for it to red ring. That would be crushing.
Time for a shell swap.
i mean if anything just take the hardware from another 360 and plop it inside
I actually remember being at E3 and going through the hololens/Warzone experience with out of all people, the cast of Silicon Valley. Bonus fact they gave out USB sticks that looked like the chip Chief stuffs in the back of his head with Cortana, and it was loaded with some promo material and that whole parallel hunt the truth thing, which I still have.
please let him do a vid on it
Pics or it didn't happen
@@TheNaturalGamer1 if the boys want to see it I'll send it over.
@@andymcdonald4537 so you don't have it then huh just send it to me then
I went to the ODST truck in Tomball TX. Waited 2 hours to play less than 10min of Halo Firefight. They gave out license plate frames that read "my other car is a warthog"
Honestly, my biggest takeaway from this video is that literally every endeavor 343 have made with Halo has had no clear vision, and been ultimately abandoned in disgrace.
A normal day for them.
You couldn’t have said that better
*coughs* Halo Infinite *coughs*
I had the same one. It honestly sucks that 343 didn't plan ahead enough for their bonus media. It sucks that Halo likely won't see another golden age for quite a while
Too true.
Only a couple minutes in and my mind is blown with the 7-Eleven ARG, that's so sick! Absolutely loving these videos btw!
I got ODST and a Forza game in a double-disk pack. It was like $15 or something at a local game store, kinda neat.
Any chance it's the Forza game that has the walk around of the Warthog? FM3 I think it was?
which Forza game?
@@Zippy_Zolton I can't remember. 3? I'd have to look at the case but it's at my dad's
@@Zippy_Zolton I had to dig through my old games, it's in FM4. In autovista mode there's a walk around of the Warthog. You can find videos here on YT
@@commissardale motorsport or horizon?
When I was about 6 years old my parents got me the solid black xbox elite with ODST and I remember absolutely falling in love with halo and have been since. Thanks mom and dad for the incredible memories
Dont even play halo but I love listening to people to talk about their passion for various things. Great video! I remember my bros having the halo mega blocks set as kids but we either lost, chewed, or destroyed it over time lmao
I attended Outpost Discovery in Philadelphia, something neat about it is everything there was canon; there are evn two named spartans in the lore that originated from OD (they were employees in cosplay you could take pictures with). There was some pretty cool stuff there, including an IRL warthog, life sized statues of Master Chief and an Elite, to scale replicas of a Flood infection form (which was much larger than I thought it would be) and a Monitor, laser tag with battle rifles, an experimental VR pvp arena, and said escape room. It was pretty fun, though the escape room did break halfway through.
The Halo 2 CE DVD sound test is my favorite random Halo media for sure. The Hunter for the subwoofer is priceless.
I remember checking out Halo Iris after Halo 3 had dropped and found it all fascinating, would love to see a video on it!
I have the halo mega construx infinity ship sitting on a shelf behind me, didn't know it was so rare lol
9:36 that's what I loved about getting the Deadeye helmet in H4 from BestBuy. It was the only preoder bonus that wasnt a coating, rather a unique helmet. Its been my favorite helmet to wear ever since H4.
I bought the special edition of Halo 4 from GameStop and the special edition Xbox from Best Buy and picked them up on the same midnight launch night it was a blast. And I wanted the preorder bonuses from both stores
Thankfully got the Halo 3 slurpee cups back in the day. Glad to see them talked about here!
I have never owned one of those slimmer 360s, and still have an og console. I remember an old one falling victim to the red ring of death, but this one has lasted a long time. Still plays games too
Oh hey, I have that old 2004 Halo artbook. Picked it up at a used book store about a decade ago. Have kept it on my bookshelf ever since
It used to push me the wrong way when I was a kid and people never switched to green team in that zombies mode you talked about in H2 customs.
The covenant escape room was eh I went to Orlando the first location and did both days and escape room on day 2 and parts were already broken
Bruh
Okay first mistake it was in Orlando Florida second mistake it was in Florida

I cannot believe you forgot about the trading cards! Whenever I make friends with someone who's a fellow halo nostalgia fan, I end up talking about the cards, and no one knows about them! I tried my hardest collecting them, saving up money so I could go to either Blockbuster or Walmart and buy the packs!
I think I still have a small stack of the trading cards among all my old TCG binders lmao
i played halo 5 forge pc quite a bit, on a wrestling trip we had like 10 ppl on laptops on it and it just became somewhat tradition for one year. then we just started bringing xboxes to the hotels and we stopped but for that time we played hours on end and it really wasnt that bad. made some maps when we have never even played forge before so it was cool to experience
Yo.. the halo vr game works with just about any pc headset. Just a heads up!
Edit: side note - Grunts are terrifyingly large in person…
Thank you. Came to the comments to see if anyone had it running.
@@thelaneyo For sure! Let me know if you need me to test it out on any other hardware. I got just about everything major headset except the HP Reverb and the Varjo.
I went to one of the H3 ODST Firefight truck events, got a sweet license plate Warthog holder thingy that I still have on my car to this day!
That lootcrate lore thing really was just the 2010s version of those poppy playtime lore nfts lmao
I got the halo 3 odst bundle back in the day as a jumping in point to the series on my own. Grew up playing halo 3 with all of my friends at their houses but didn’t have my own, so the bundle was top of my Christmas list.
Former 7-11 employee here, yes, the Slurpee syrup does go bad after it's expiration date. They do usually last a while in storage, but usually people buy Slurpees so much that they have to be restocked at least once a week, if not more.

13:41 I actually won one of those Halo 4 lithographs back in 2013 from a raffle and I was allowed to choose a prize and I chose the art because it was limited edition. I think mine is 390/1000. I also have that Halo 2 changing ad from EB games as well.
I used halo 5 forge a lot! Certain objects such as grass killed the frame rate on xbox, but my pc could handle it without any issues. So I could make some cool sets without worrying about framerate.
I also used to record time lapse forge builds. I used my main pc to record, and my laptop to build. Basically co forged with myself.
My favorite one that you may or may not have intentionally avoided is the 2004 official Halo 2 promotional condoms. It sounds fake, but from my research it's actually real and hilariously ironic.
"I need a weapon"
Totally interested in a video covering the Halo Iris.
such a cool video. this is the type of halo stuff i live for! you should do one on all the old bungie net merch, i still have some og shirts.
i also got to play in the odst truck. i remember coming home from school and seeing major nelson talk about it on a video on the xbox dashboard! wow that one really brought me back. they happened to stop at a gamestop near me that very day..... what are the odds. I won firefight in scoring and got a "my other car is a warthog" license plate frame. I also got postcards with odst promotional material. i didnt have a smartphone at the time, and most didnt so thats why video is ancient for this.
its also baffling that that encyclopedia had so many errors.. oh how 343's incompetence spreads to all parts of halo
Outpost Discovery was so cool, even for being so basic. I hope it returns and it grows. I also still have my three 7-Eleven cups in mint condition from the Halo 2 Era haha
"The Art of Halo: Creating a Virtual World"
I actually have that book, and i love it
DUUUUDE the ODST truck that toured across the US!!! I was there for that! I remember sneaking into the menu settings when I wasn't supposed to, and I saw you could take off the ODST character's helmet and flipped out. Then the Bungie guys in the truck told me to not go into the menus anymore. I was the coolest kid in school telling everyone how the next Halo game you can take off your helmet and see your face.
To be completely honest, most of my play time with Halo 5 was in Halo 5 Forge. I’m a cheapskate who doesn’t want to pay for Xbox Live so when I discovered there was a free version of the game on PC I jumped at the opportunity. Eventually the servers pretty much died since nobody uses it anymore, most likely because of the combined releases of MCC on PC and Halo Infinite. I was always really surprised that not many people knew that it existed because it was a really convenient, albeit anemic, way to play Halo 5.
As someone who played Halo 2 since day 1, and was there for Zombies, I had no idea there was a disc that had the gametype as a DLC. That's hilarious.
Good times though. My best days in gamer was with Halo 2.
I use to play halo 5 forge on PC quite a bit, I sold my halo 5 themed Xbox one, because I needed a new desk, (money was tight, and I needed the workspace) I really enjoyed the community and forge community in halo 5 so I would often long for it again, sure enough I would play this to satisfy that itch. Though Yer servers were pretty dead even then.
I still have my "Halo Reach" Edition 360 slim and controllers, still love it
Sequel video!!! I love learning about this stuff, thanks rocket sloth!
Another set of very rare collectors items imo would be the final wave of Mattel Halo figures. That saw a very limited release before Mattel dropped the license to make Halo action figures. I have no idea how many actually got onto shelves but I’ve only ever seen them a few times on eBay. I have the Elite Warrior but that’s it.
I remember that when i was at a yard sale I saw a mega blocks mammoth that was only missing the mongoose and it was for about 15 bucks when the set new was about 500 on Amazon so I got it unfortunately it was smashed because the bottom was unstable now it is sitting in a bag with all the parts
About the VR, there was another halo VR experience at outpost discovery were you played 4 v 4 slayer on A forge looking cube in Valhalla
Halo Recruit is technically the last Halo game to have dual-wielding.
I remember the codes were on the back of the dorito bags. I just walked around the store scanning them 😅
Discovery Outpost was a lot of fun, hope they decide to do that again.
My first 360 was the black ODST Elite. I remember it like it was yesterday. So excited to open that box!
I absolutely loved Halo 5 Forge on PC. I didn't want to have to deal with buying an Xbox One and paying for gold and all that just to play one game. Also it was the first Halo game on PC in years
I still have a Halo 2 watch from circuit city and a promo 7-11 halo 2 shirt.
Ah yes the Arctic Rifle from Halo 4... When I had my first 360 in 2017 I also had Halo 4. And yes, I was 5 Years late of its Release. I still wanted the Skin so hard but couldn't find out how to get it. I bought the LE but the Skin wasn't included, and there was a skin on Ebay but that skin costs 400 Euros. Later I discovered that the Skin is in the Halo 4 GOTY edition, and there was one for 5 Euro - NEW. I bought it and one week later when I redeemed all the Codes, I also got the Blueish Light rifle skin that you only get in the Xbox 360 Slim Halo 4 Bundle, a Hazop Forest (Camouflage style) armor Skin, and of course the Arctic BR skin. I was so Happy...
Man, I totally had one of the halo 4 cups, completely forgot about those till now. No idea what happened to it.
i actually attended outpost discovery (wear my hat from it every day) and my favorite part was using battle rifles in laser tag and the VR halo that was there (it was a small arena where we shot plasma pistols) it was all so much fun.
How do we not have a full halo CE VR port yet? I'm just saying it could be amazing!
I still have my Halo 3 Slurpee cups!
Pretty mint condition too! 😏
Cool
Sell me one?
We need Halo Outpost again!
i always loved the Machinima with the action figure master chief
Maaaan that G Force commercial takes me back.
When I went to the Halo odst truck it was the first stop and it didn't have any of the odst stickers on it yet but was still cool.
I have the UNSC Infinity Mego Bloks set fully built still. I put it away in my attic, so its kinda dusty, but I still have the whole thing. I got it for Christmas when I was like 8 or 9 after I told my parents that I'd skip my birthday that year so I could get it since it was expensive.
Halo I'm vr would legitimately be one of the best versions games of they acctually tried
Nice video, interesting stuff I had no idea about
I've played halo recruit, it's a good way to see how tall master chief actually is
I loved the halo outpost. And i did the covenant one twice it was cool. The 2 other cool parts was the assault rifle laser tag! And the halo vr was pretty sweet too.
You forgot about the halo revamped sega dreamcast fan-made game. Pretty interesting. And also if you need more pics or vids of halo games and collectibles let me know im a halo collector and i got all kinds of cool stuff. Ooooo also halo trading cards!
I liked it too but it’s too bad I didn’t get to experience many of the things there. I would've had to wait hours if I wanted to go into one thing and I just wasn’t going to do that
@@Komaruuu somehow i got lucky with most the wait times. Besides the vr thing that was my longest, however i got to cut to the front of the line cus i got picked to go up on stage with djbluepdx and unyshek and played some halo 5 and i kicked ass for our team. And anyone who played gets to go to the front of the line which was awesome.
@@vincentsgaming that’s some real luck. The only things I remember doing are laser tag and playing halo reach on PC. Other than that, I just walked around taking pictures with cosplayers and that sort of stuff
@@Komaruuu yeah it was an awesome experience. I still hate halo 5 with a passion but i played it cus i was live on mixer with them so screw it lol. But i took full advantage of the. Full 3 days vip. Saw steve and Jen had them sign 2 of my items. Met the 343 dev team had them sign stuff. Lots of pics. Did everything there was to do basically besides missing some panels and what not. Best 3 days ever. Also got lucky on day 2 of jen/ steve signing was literally the last person in the door.
The slurpee cups were soo cool way back. I remember bits and pieces going to the 7 11 store and just fanboying over getting the cup for Halo 3. 😇
Whatever happened to the costumes for the Halo 3 ODST trailer? They've got to be at the pinacle of Halo media.
Besides the diorama from "Believe" of course
Pontiac (the car brand from GM) sold a Halo 3-edition car and also a Hummer. I wonder whatever happened to it...
I wish they make the VR game from Halo Outpost Discovery available. That was so good.....
Forgot the Taco Bell exclusive ODST, that was limited to I think 4 consoles, and looked closer to the Halo 3 console with a translucent skin as well. Now THAT is obscure. Also Halo 3 Zune with exclusive (at the time) art loaded on it
I remember getting soo much mountain dew that it made me sick, and i still have all types of Slurpee cups from halo 3.
Was also there when the ODST truck came to the Chicago burbs :D
I remember back when I was around 12 or 13 back in 2008-2010 KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell had a promotion for Halo reach where you could get limited edition cups here in Canada. I don't still have mine unfortunately but maybe somebody out there does? 👀
a long time ago i actually came across a UNSC mammoth mega bloks set at a sputtergoch store
Halo itself is so good that the community forgets about all the big Easter eggs.
I love the mcc grunts interview I loved it
Halo channel was funny cause I downloaded it and it was like 2020 I started halo 5 and got interested in the franchise I went on and watched the episodes and got that good odst armour.
They could have branched out with a VR marine spin off.
I woulda watched every episode of that cancelled cartoon mate
To answer your question. The kind of person who bought a brand new XBox 360 at the release of Halo 3 ODST is the kind of guy who went over to friends' houses to play Halo and finally got a new XBox so he can play online for the first time since Original XBox.
really forcing that one
I wish I could find a mega bloks scarab jeez
If you enter some collector circles you can probably find it for a good few hundred but on eBay some people sell it for like a good $250+ or $300+ most of the people who sell it for thousands are scalpers or scams
The ODST Truck I clearly remember getting photos of. I have some framed in my room. I had to drive from Florida to Tennessee: one of the states the truck was visiting. I came close to entering the truck but I decided not to spoil the experience of Halo 3 ODST early for myself. I have always wondered; what happened to the ODST Truck after ODST released? Hopefully the truck was preserved by 343 and is safely in storage or something.
Halo 4: King if the Hill fueled by Moutain Dew my beloved
Lol that Halo 4, 7-11 app was great 😅 and those cups were goated
"By 2009 who is buying a 360 just to play ODST"
Uuuh right here man I did
I used to have one of those cups, and we threw it away when we moved. Damn it.
I'm not a hardcore halo 5 forge PC player, but I do play it quite a lot just to mess around
I wish they'd make a full on halo VR game. I remember someone making an mcc mod called reclaimer VR but they dropped off the map and haven't been heard from in like, a couple years.
On the 360 odst note:
I actually personally got my first ever xbox 360 as a birthday present, I got to open one present early and that was a copy of ODST (before I knew I was getting a 360) I had grown up playing Halo 1 and 2 but during 3s release and lifespan I was still on the xbox and ps2.
definitly curious about the iris thing. make a video on that if you can mate
I should really finish my infinity, I'm halfway through it but megabloks cam just be so finicky to join it makes those longer builds a mission
I have that art of Halo book. It’s really cool.
Wtf, I don't know why RUclips already unsubscribed me your channel, literally just re-subscribed 2 months ago. Anyways, keep up the great content
There are mods for VR games like Pavlov and contractors that have mods with fully functioning halo mp maps with the same gravity and even fully interactive guns from the game. Halo mp is now a completeley VR adaptable game
Halo Outpost was one of the greatest experiences I've had
Passing through Sandpoint Idaho I saw a still open GameStop with a halo 3 poster in the window
I was always interested in playing H5F but there's been many things stopping me from doing so, including but not limited to storage limitations, general inactivity from what I can observe, and my friends leaving me
um
Bro zombies goes all the way back to CE. I remember browsing the server browser for zombie servers. Some people even got scripts working to where team switching would be automatic. Long live ZA!!
Hey you should do a video about the Halo mods in Contractors VR. It’s quite well done. I really feel like I’m playing halo in VR.
In lore engineers don't care about humans nor the covenant, they are an organic computer that will use whatever benefits them most, remember they were made by the forerunners...so not like it's a shocker he didnt care lol
Just want to say, the quick, stright to the point, encouraging while not trying to be pushy Sponsor push is the way to go...
I remember when Reach came out i wanted the bestbuy armor and on day 2 after release of waiting for it i was freaking out so i went and got a gamestop copy and sent back the bestbuy one.
