Great radio. I am struggling with every fibre of determination not to buy one!
Deffo one for holiday's abroad. I could have had a lot of fun with it when we used to fly to our holiday. Better than sitting at the airport for hours reading the same magazine 5 times.
Sorry Fred, but for the price, it's just not worth the money for me m8. If it half that price I might have thought about it. I'm flying out to somewhere in a few months time, & I can listen to air frequency stuff on my icom 92E no problem while I I sit in the departure lounge. I,m not really bothered about music, not that I'll hear much music on that from inside a Boeing 777 at 40,000 feet, lol. Listening to the air coms though should be no problem, lol.
Kind regards,
Ray.
Cheer Ray.

I'm glad they went with a traditional LCD display instead of an OLED one.
Yes as its quite small LCD is better.
Cheers FRED loved watching this video, nice little radio, thanks again Alan from Leighton buzzard 🇬🇧👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Frid in the shed your Raddy RF-760 ssb shortwave portable receiver is awesome my friend 😊😊😊
Thanks Greg
Frid in the shed iam going to san Diego CALIFORNIA in October 2023 19-23 for five days with my cousin and his wife we are flying there my friend 😊😊😊😊
Frid in the shed I learn lot from you about cb radios and antennas for cb radios and what to bye my friend 😅😅😅😅😊
Frid in the shed your other shortwave portable receiver is awesome my friend 😅😅😅
When on FM band switch ATT to “DX” - at least in my case setting ATT into DX really improved the reception, 73
Nice radio with a good MW antenna and reception.
I have just bought one of these for my upcoming holiday. It was £80 on Amazon, *but* it is branded the Retekess TR110. They appear identical, apart from on the Retekess they have spelled "Frequency" correctly 😝
Sound quality is similar to that of the ClooBlut RD218.
Hi ya Fred, another great video as usual, hope you’re all well mate I’ll have to get on the 305 again soon, all the best Joely Joel
Hey Joely. Would be great to hear you on the radio. Yes the 305 is struggling and has really dropped off. They changed my work shift pattern and its tight for me to get on the radio Normally it starts around 4.30pm now. Dan Hatfield has tried to keep it going but it does need some more support.
Looks like a very capable little radio. You do get better features on a bigger form factor radio, but you pay more too. The only change I'd want is a better external antenna socket, like an SMA connector which would give more versatility on the type of antenna used.
156.875 is ship to ship atleast in the netherlands :) i listening alot to that on my scanner
Ferrite antenna is at the bottom of radio, like Sangean DT series radios.
These Radios are always in need of battery’s! ( No Surprise!)
we want the radios used in DIE HARD 2
A pretty rad rad;) maybe a lump of plasticine would help the quality.. I'm like you and judge by the heft of things as well as the knob feel. Seems like a good little radio for the money.
Your MW tuning is 10 KHz, not 9 KHZ as in Europe. Oh, I remember 97.3 and 95.8 during my Oxford days. I have the Han Rong Da version of the radio. Nice radio. Thank you for your great review.
What would you think is the better radio the Raddy RF760 ,Retekess TR110 or the tecsun pl-360
@@monotech20.14 my Han Rong Da HRD 747 is slightly insensitive on some radio bands, so I may get the other version just for interest. HRD version is great on MW, FM, Air band and some VHF like weather radio and VHF marine channels. Shortwave and CB is passable. Oh, the medium wave antenna is at the bottom of the radio, so holding makes you part of the antenna like on Sangean DT series radios. Last the battery, BL-5C is a common battery here. Wishing you success and good health and respect and good listening in 2024. 73s.
@@monotech20.14 If I get a Tecsun, it will be the 365 or 368, with SSB.
@@normanhill535 Thanks.
@@normanhill535 So you think the Raddy is better than the Retekess?
Looks good alright. Pity no room for RDS display on that busy looking screen. I presume on MW you can change the step from 10khz to 9khz for this part of the world.
Yes i believe you can.
Excellent review as usual, thanks, but for once I'm going to disagree.
I've bought one of these and I returned it. I found it quite a poor SW receiver, difficult and confusing to use, especially on SSB, almost deaf on the air band even compared to its cheaper sibling the HRD-737 aka. Raddy RF-31 that I own. I never could hear anything on VHF/UHF bands despite my hand held transceiver catching ham traffic. I can't rule out receiving a defective unit but I just returned it.
Looked very cheap and fragile too, it definitely wasn't worth the 80 euros or so I paid for it on Amazon.
I think it comes down to the size of the thing. They have squeezed a lot in to make it so small.
A pretty rad raddy, sorry couldn't help that one! Seems OK but not outstanding like so many are. Thanks for the review mate.
I think maybe they tried to save some money by not using the highest quality casing but I’m not sure.
Yes maybe and weight i guess.
Hi Fred great videos. I’m just starting to look at CB and radios again after many years away and you know your stuff. Do you do an idiot’s guide to terminology as I’m very lost with what you’re saying ( not you it’s me!)
Cheers and keep up the great videos.
Phil
Hi Phil. Thats a good point as things have changed. Best to check out my begginers guide videos. Here. ruclips.net/video/-4dbYAigpvw/видео.html
Dear Fred, quick question, best little radio, rechargable to listen to AM whilst in the mountains of brecon south wales.
Spend a lot of time hiking and thye radio is my best company to keep me going. Great channel, you know your stuff.
Kind regards, Dai.
Hi. The RETEKESS V-115 AM. Vid here. ruclips.net/video/iUc1-weelT4/видео.html
There are no private codes on PMR radios, the CTCSS and DCS is not private but if you use it only the station with the same code can answer you but all other will hear you, but they can't talk to you if they don't use the same code.
Although if you wanted a bit of "security through obscurity", you could get some cheap dPMR handsets instead of analogue.
Nice review, can you recommend anything around the £100 thats small but old skool 0 to 1.5ghz with no gaps ?
I cannot think of anything as small as this one. The best portable SW radio i have is a Tecsun 600. You can get them used for less than £100. Wont go up to 1.5 ghz though. Have you thought about using an SDR dongle.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Thanks for the reply, I just miss my old skool scanner, had a couple of Baofengs lately bit would love a little compact scanner again, like the old Realistic / Uniden etc, oh I had a wee Alinco I think it was called, so what portable SDR with antenna and speaker do you recommend?
Well with SDR you really need to use a laptop but it is a very wide band scanner. I settled on a Nooelec SDR. Loads of video on the channel getting it working. See more here. ruclips.net/video/D0FN25-ok8A/видео.html
ICOM IC-R6 is a lovely wide band scanner, difficult to operate, up to 1.3 ghz
Cons: 1. FM only on VHF bands; 2. Bl**dy awkward to tune.
Hello Fred , I hope that all is well & good . I just wanted to ask if you use a low pass filter to stop interference with neighbours , something like the Zetagi F27 . I'm moving to a block of flats & am concerned that I might interfere with neighbours tv , I have the CRT 6900 & the 9900 .
I dont use one myself but a TVI filter is not a bad idea if your worried,
انا اشتريت واحد ولكن يكون ضعيف على الموجة MW
looking at coming back to cb fm am ssd but I need a small ish antenna in door or out not sure yet going to be using my old stalker 9f dx I know it a big ask but any advice would be great
Hi. This video should help. ruclips.net/video/-4dbYAigpvw/видео.html
how bad is the thunder pole excalibur. @@CB-RADIO-UK
would a thunder pole be better
The thunder pole Excalibur is a pretty poor performer
Kann man denn solch eine Antenne ersetzen ? 73
How do you turn the damn thing off???? I hit the "F"ing power button, it turns off then about 2 minutes latter it turns back on!!
Odd ?
The radio went yesterday from $79 to $99 overnight which sucks...
Depends on the exchange rate. It will prob drop back.
Sounds like vhf uhf pretty much deaf.
Did seem that way.
The issue is the squelch... way too tight.
Use it without to enjoy the full sensitivity of the receiver
Hello, how do I change the modulation in VHF to VFM?
Do you mean NFM
👍🙃🦘
Cor that's terrible ain't it!
No not at all. Perfect travel radio for your holidays.
