Watching DeeBee oscilate between utterly inept and Godgamer is simultaniously hilarious and insane.
It's part of DeeBee's charm; you'll get frustrated watching him get stuck, then baffled at how he figured out the very next thing.

Growing up with 2D Metroid I didn't believe this game was going to be good and neither did many of my friends. Then the game came out and all of us were just dumbstruck by how good it was. This game really is something special.
Retro Studios knocked it out of the park with the original, then again with the remaster!
The game never explicitly tells you this, but it gives you a hint in the music to how to get to secrets in the Magmoor morph ball tunnels. In those sections, the music picks up a metronome like tick - that's the correct rhythm for doing the triple-bomb jump - two bombs on the ground, first sends you into the air where you drop a bomb at the peak, second bounces you up again where the third bomb sends you to double height
or just springjump, place bomb at the peak and springjump into the explosion

Why does it feel like a horror game? Because Metroid was inspired the film Alien. They wanted to recreate the feeling of isolation and claustrophobia of the film in a game. So in a way Metroid has always been a horror game.
Loved watching this playthrough on Twitch. Here's hoping they give Prime 2 and Prime 3 the same treatment!

The fact this game is still so good, shows how well crafted it was, and how some things don't need to change.
True! Yet simultaneously proves that some things should. Aside from the beautiful art upgrade, the updated controls are an immense improvement over the original, to the point where I cannot go back to the original anymore.

Not only was this game good as a 3D transition for the series, the SOUNDTRACK pretty much set the style for every Metroid game that followed.
After playing Dread, I was SO happy to get the Morph Ball so damned early in Metroid Prime 1.
Getting it so late in Dread was a nice change though.

DeeBee, you need to scan more stuff! Sometimes that will reveal things like weak points on enemies or walls that can be destroyed.For example, if you scanned the parasite queen on the frigate, you would find out that her weak point is her head and your auto aim will reflect that.
He'll do that for his revisit of this lol

My only quibble about the Metroid Prime remake is that the face reflection is a really common occurrence. For me, on GameCube, it occurred for the first time in a really dark section with some panic inducing shit going on and I was like WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT and I was like Oh. My face reflection. Of course.
They couldn t put the light reflectiob of the beams either.

I've played nearly every 2d game but none of the 3d ones, played this on launch day and this quickly became one of my favorite Metroid games, up there with ZM and Super Metroid. Glad you're playing this

Awesome video, Dee. After Zelda, I think Metroid is my next favorite Nintendo franchise. I remember playing this and the second Prime game when they came out, and loved them both. I hope they do remasters of the other Prime games. Can't wait to catch more of this series.

I really love seeing how people today are encouraged to play the Metroid saga, especially Metroid Prime. See how they explore, and I being able to remember my childhood having the same reactions, surprises, and mistakes caused by curiosity. Yes, I was also one of those who got stuck in the lava tunnel trying to take the energy tank, dying in the attempt.

Best QoL is pointer controls but it requires button remapping through Switch settings to make it feel right.

Obviously late to the party but, scan everything. There is so much heart and soul put into every corner of this game and scanning just shows how much love was put into the details.
And yeah, Retro did pure MAGIC to get this running on Gamecube in silky smooth 60fps.

Prepare for a new style of Metroid. You've played the 2D ones but the Prime series is really something special. The advice I'll give for this if you don't know what to do, use your scan visor and check your environment.
Another thing is keep your ears open, the upgrades in this game (Missile expansions, Energy tanks, etc.) give off a unique sound so before you pick one up, listen to it and it will help in getting more later, you'll need them.

Man, Metroid Prime was pure magic. From when it first came out when I was a kid, all the way to now 21 years later, it's still a dear favorite. Retro Studios had something truly special, and that is why people are patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Metroid Prime 4. I can't wait to see your journey through these incredible games. The rain falling on the visor and the canon, the reflect of Samus's face when you are near of an explosion, everything was already here in 2002.
On the visor yeah but not the cannon as far as I remember. The rain even rolls up and down on the cannon of you aim up or down.

You got it wrong. Meta Ridley isn't a copy of Ridley, that is Ridley himself, but in the last fight Samus had before Prime with him she left him seriously injured, so the space pirates made him into that cyborg. With time he goes little by little regenerating. The version in Samus Returns is Protius Ridley, early pure organical.

It's here! It's finally here! I have been waiting for this moment since he finished the 2D series. Like OG fans Deebee started with the 2D series, so im sure by this point he has that "expectation" a Metroid fan would've had. Considering back in 2001 OG fans were really concerned if Metroid would translate well to 3D, and although it does have part of the 2D fans that hate it with a passion, the people who loved it is much larger. There's a reason it was the best-selling Metroid game from that time.
For me, this was my introduction to the Metroid series after Super Smash Bros and Melee introduced me to the fabled bounty hunter. To say that i am biased towards this particular game is an understatement and i hope you enjoy it as much as i did Deebeegeek.

FYI pro tip scanning lets you know weaknesses on enemy’s and shows as a target when targeting things like bosses
Ps can also show secrets and hidden morph ball areas. Esp early on

I've been playing this game religiously since it first came out on the GameCube. The only advice I'll give you is *SCAN EVERYTHING* .

It's not even just so much for 100% completion; it's that the game expects you to scan as much as you can...and especially later in the game, there's context-sensitive clues that only get handed out via scanning.
I think the best part of this video is the thumbnail. I love how I can just see your glasses peeking through the helmet. We appreciate everything you do for us Dee. :)

The atmosphere, the music, the combat, the puzzles - all top notch!

Seeing my reflection for the first time on the gamecube was the first jump scare I ever got from a game... Was in an intense fight underwater in the dark, turned too far and released my charged shot into the wall next to me.
This game was so ahead of its time, especially as a technical achievement. Even the gamecube version still looks good, but the remaster is *chefs kiss*

The orignial metroid prime was one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I'm generaly pretty bad at videogames but i adrore feeling imersed in an evironment and like i'm invited into a secret place special for me. This game was so amazingly good at giving me that feeling and so atmospheric! I'm very happy to se people experience it in HD like i always had it looking in my brain. looking forweard to seeing your journey and checking out the rest of your chanel :)
Deebee, For your question on where the Prime series fits into the Metroid timeline, it's between Metroid 1/Zero Mission and Metroid 2: Return of Samus. Some Space Pirate log entries you'll find in the game will mention the fall of Zebes that Samus caused in 1, and it's after the Prime series that the Galactic Federation decides that Metroids are too dangerous to exist and hires Samus to wipe them out on SR388.
It's been a while since the last time i got to watch you play a game from the beggining to the end, and well, Metroid Prime is my favorite of the Metroid games. I'm glad to see you're having fun with this game like i did this year!
Also, it took me a while to get to the Phendrana Drifts. I did so much unnecessary backtracking 😂. Was worth it tho
