I love Venice and enjoyed your photos. My wife and I visited for three days a pre-pandemic. I also got the photo of a seagull on the ledge near the canal. Thanks
Venice is such a wonderful city to explore and to photograph. Murano and Burano are also worth a visit and panic shoot - some wonderful colours especially Burano. Hopefully get back one day
Brendan, awesome video mate!!!Going in two wks from now as first time it couldn't be a much better time to see your top tips for this lovely place.Glad to be part of being part of your community I really appreciate your time and effort to help us grow as creatives, mate!!Very inspiring, salutes from London and keep it up the good work.
@@BrendanvanSon I really look forward to visit it I’m so pumped about that!!You showed us how can be done as a photographer point of view so let’s see how it goes!!Thanks again for sharing this nice video can’t wait to see your next ones from Italy!!🙏🏾🙌🏾☺️👊🏾
As someone thats followed along since 2016 or 2017 I love videos like this. Your travel videos are like no others and my wife and I use them as a guide to what part of the world to see next. Hope you and your lovely little family are doing well. Keep it up!
I checked your webpage for gear and see the 3 Legged Thing travel tripods listed. The tripod at 9:38 looks similar but not exactly the same. Can you confirm which one you’re using here? Great video, thanks!
Great to see you back exploring the world Brendan. I can say that I found myself photographically at dawn in Venice. Such a beautiful place! Hopefully will escape New Zealand after two years of being locked in at the bottom of the world.
Those photos you took the second morning looked incredible with those skies! It is really interesting to not see Venice with so many tourists. It definitely makes things more calming!
Beautiful, thanks! Beautiful shot of the sunrise towards the end. I loved the multi-colored jacket at 7:45. Made me think of gay-pride camo. At the right parade, you'd be invisible!
Hahaha The Swamp 👾 I was thinking to myself I didn't realize BvS had an Italy trip scheduled for February 2022🤔 Great video, Venice looks like a tough place to photograph, too many options😲
Nice video. I'm off to Venice next May, so thanks for the tips! Quick question. You had a tripod. Is packing one essential and if so, do you put it in carry on or hold baggage???
It looks like late autumn is a great time of year to visit Europe and avoid crowds! Or, was it Covid restrictions? I know Italy was going back and forth about that all year.
Now to get you to run a class touring Italy (all the places my new wife wants to go) combined with a food and wine tour. That’s her bucket list and I can’t carry a tune in a bucket but I can carry a dream… in a bucket?
Having entered Venice by train (from Rome) and the la laguna boats from the airport, nothing beats arriving in Venice on boat. So miss that city. Great video. Stay safe Brendan. My wife and I are planning a 6 week trip to Northern Portugal and Madeira but I don't think we can squeeze in time in the Algarve..was really hoping to visit your cafe!!
Hey Brendan, nice to see another video of yours! My girlfriend and i are planning a Portugal Trip in the second half of May. We follow you since 2 years and yeah we‘d love to drop by at your studio/cafe and talk about photography and have a coffee. Do you know whether you‘ll be in Lagos then? Peace ✌️
Nice photos Brendon and nice videos, when I went to Venice I got out of the hotel early to get picts. It was a film guest what when I went back to the hotel because it was time to leave went to change the film and I had no fil roll in the camera so all those pict did not got any pict.
Venice looks so deserted, thanks to the pandemic. Usually there is no space to swing a cat. Cool colourful jacket, mate. Looking forward to your Dolomites video.
Venice is bit like Santorini, beautiful but challenging to create great photos. I visited a few times and tried seriously at least twice :-)) I will go back for more, blue hour is very nice/unique in Venice. My grippe is that they have lights at all sorts of odd places that intrude at the most inconvenient spots of the composition.
If I were to describe my experience photographing Venice it would be almost exactly what you said in this video. On top of your description, we had completely cloudless skies and packed streets at all hours (pre pandemic). I came away with one or two. It was definitely worth the effort.
Venice, one of my very few trips outside France. I spent a week there with 70 teenage students, 20 hours of bus, a crappy hotel outside Venice, 24/7 with them complaining all the time, wrong time of the year, packed with tourists, 3 shitty colleagues spending their time visiting the city on their own and me trying not to loose anyone... No time for real photography. So many bad memories from this trip, I now associate Hell to Venice, this is sad and so frustrating.

Very interesting! I would have thought Venice would be a Mecca for good photos! As they say, “A pretty scene doesn’t necessarily translate to a great photo!” Thanks for sharing!
Yeah I agree Once reason Venice I smy favorite city is becasue it's like cheating at photography, there are great shots everywhere becasue there is so much character in the city. And if crowds are an issue, walk literally one or two streets away and it will be nearly empty. Not to mention there are many great islands in the lagoon, all with their own character.
Wonderful that you show your settings on the camera 😊 on the pictures
Glad it's helpful!
Wonderful tips for Venice Photography! Thanks a lot, Brendan
Fantastic images Brendan! Italy looks beautiful 🇮🇹🍕📸
I often like your video framing better than that of the actual photo.
These shots are amazing Brendan. They does not always need to be perfect. Great work!
Great to see what you did with the locations and how my photos turned out from this great place.
I hope your photos came out well, man!

Great video, Brendan! I totally agree, my city is not so easy to photograph and yes, you have to embrace its chaos :) Ciao
Thanks! It is a whole lot of fun to photograph though!!

Dolomites coming next 😬

I think it was a bit of both. November is cloudy and a bit rainy, so it's usually the quietest month
Awesome Video Brendan, Venice is such a beautiful City! Would love to photograph there
Thanks. I hope you get the chance some day
wow this is amazing...the shots are literal works of art 🔥🔥
Thank you Keller!

6:30 you need to come to Croatia. Nothing lines up in most places hahahha. Maybe some things in Zagreb, but nothing in other popular places 😂

Maybe have look at the islands next time?
I really enjoy your channel. I was wondering how often you find yourself shooting between 15 and 35 mm while you were in Venice?

Not sure if there was something wrong with the sound recording, but at times I struggled to hear you over that incredible coat 😳😉
hahahah, well played.

Crazy quiet. But i find in the fall is always pretty quiet as is. But yeah, even more so now!!

Yeah! Bright blue skies make it tough, when that happens i like to flip to black and white and play with contrasts

Great video, Brendan. Interesting comment. Wide angles get likes, but in close sells. Hmm...
Challenges are cool! :D
Is it you that Wild Eye mentioned?
I don't know what wild eye is...?
@@BrendanvanSon not you then😃
Love the video and Venice! Fyi London is 2 hours and 15 minuted from Venice Isn’t it great living in Europe.
Hey man ! Big fan from india...! One question ... How to earn money at beginning stage.... Because i have to pay som bills As a travel photographer....?
Well... You don't get paid at the beginning. It's a lot of hustle. Stock, pitching cliente, etc. It's definitely not easy at first

Hei I was today in Venice to do some Timelapses
Hope you had a good time!
Nothing in Venice is plumb, level, or straight. That's why its magic.
Agreed
Very interesting! I would have thought Venice would be a Mecca for good photos! As they say, “A pretty scene doesn’t necessarily translate to a great photo!” Thanks for sharing!
Oh, it is! It's just not always as obvious as it looks
3 :47 ..... Wander vertically, in a horizontal manner ? .......... to get your forground after selecting a background ....... ;-)
Brendan do not be ridiculous. Everything is good composition in venice. No need for foreground. Canaletto and guardi did not need foregrounds.

That's the trap. Everything is a good photo, taking a good composition and making it great is the challenge
