  • Social Distortion's Mike Ness earned his spot as a pioneer of California punk rock with his aggressive riffs and hard-hitting lyrics. Cool Demo. Mike Ness has always been a bit of a outcast so it's only fitting to see him with his own signature guitar commanding the flair and attitude only he brings. Growing up between the mid 80s I always admired the punk can do attitude with a little money and recognition they ever found back then. It's crazy to see the amount of money these old warrior axes command so these replicas seem to fit the bill. My first gear was crap but it served me well and kept me playing, which is all that matters.

    Cool video. Hey dudes , just curious... What's in the signal path / what type of amp etc. are you using..... Thanks & would have been a great addition to hear like 'Telling Them' or 'Moral Threat' mixed into the demo..... ✌️

    It's nice but, a replica of a relative "cheap" 70s Les Paul that costs 9k dollars... C'mon man

    • @CreamCityMusic
      @CreamCityMusic  2 года назад

      We've heard that a lot! Though based on our experience selling a lot of vintage 70's era gold tops, this guitar is a much better quality instrument. $9k better? That's up to the owners. ;)

    Would have been nice to hear some dirty SD style riffs.

  • @51punk
    @51punk 2 года назад +2

    I’m a huge SD fan, but in my opinion, Gibson totally missed the mark on this. Typical SD fan is around 40-55 years old, and probably has a young family still at home to pay for. They more than likely don’t have $9000 to drop on a tribute guitar. I think a better way to go would have been to release a Mike Ness LP Deluxe that was basically a regular LP Deluxe (gold top, maple neck, etc) but with P90s instead of mini HBs. It could have been sold at around regular Deluxe price, and would have been within reach to many more SD fans, while also possibly appealing to people who weren’t necessarily SD fans, but liked the idea of a LP with a maple neck and P90s. Put it this way… this guitar in no way makes me regret buying a LP Standard 50’s P90 last year, and it should

    • @CreamCityMusic
      @CreamCityMusic  2 года назад +1

      We've definitely heard that opinion. We fully expect Gibson to make a USA one. ;)

      @@CreamCityMusic He has thrown together a bunch of these over the years of course. I’ve even seen a few where the OC font was thicker, but the original, that they based these off of…..like a lot of people, I’ve made a few budget versions using the ‘56 Epiphone models, so I’ve studied that original version a lot. He first started using it at the release of the White Light White Heat album. When he first started using it, it only had the Orange County lettering (see the I Was Wrong video), then he added the Mr. Horsepower.

    • @CreamCityMusic
      @CreamCityMusic  2 года назад

      Totally feel you on that. Based on what Gibson's been doing lately we're betting on both a standard USA version and an Epiphone sometime next year.
