Thanks for taking us along on this trip. Four decades ago I had a job in Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park for a summer. In fact, in just three more years it will be 5 decades ago. Tokopah Falls was one of many day hikes I gave tours on while living in the Lodgepole area, so this was a trip down memory lane for me. I took my first backpacking trip from Wolverton to Pear Lakes a decade before my full summer up there and was hooked for life. Keep pushing and get all the trips in you can, the body eventually limits you before you realize it is going to happen.
I don't know about you but when I visited the Sequoia National Park I sit back and looked at the tree that they called Sherman and I looked at that thing for more than an hour and I was so impressed with it and the one that called Grant they were both incredible I sit there for more than an hour just staring at that big old tree people thought I was crazy but you know what I don't care what people think it really gives you a presence of God gives me cold chills thinking about it kind of what your videos do to me everyday when I see a new one just love them thank you
Absolutely phenomenal! Kudos to Julie for packing out that trash... people are deplorable.... What a stunning hike! I don't think I could ever leave a place like that! 👍👍
Yes, they are. It's so disappointing! I did not want to leave. I edited the part out where I was whining like a baby because it was time to go! hahaaa. I saw people heading out to backpack and I was soooo envious. I'll need to backpack this area. Thanks for watching!
Catherine Gregory, I'm so glad I discovered your channel. You're an intelligent, exceptionally nice, down to earth person, and you choose some of the most incredible hiking and backpacking trips to such beautiful areas. You go to some of the most amazing places in the American West. I've learned so much.
Thank you so much Rick. I’ll be uploading a new backpacking video within the next couple days from Olympic National Park in Washington. The beauty is mind blowing! Stay tuned!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures I've been to Mount Rainer, but never to Olympic. A friend told me the Hoh Rain Forest is the most beautiful place he's ever seen. I'm retired but working, so time and money limit my travels more than I'd like. My love for the National Parks goes back to 1963, when my mom and dad started taking my brother, sister, and me to a lot of them. I look forward to all your adventures.
Spectacular hike....love the rock trail parts...waterfalls awesome...love the sound of them! It has been hot here and watching this cools me off somehow
Thanks for a nostalgic video of the Sierra. The hike reminded me so much of when I worked in Kings Canyon, especially the Mist Falls trail. Thank you also for removing the trash. One of my duties when I went out on patrol was to pick up trash that people left behind and pack it out. I took along some large trash bags just for that purpose. I was also responsible for cleaning out the fire rings. Pieces of aluminum foil in the fire pits were my bane. After a season of dealing with visitors in that park, I became disgusted with the human race. But my very favorite part of work was hazing the bears!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Loved that waterfall. Thanks to you guys for packing out what other folks left. I do that all the time on the trail. I started bringing a trash bag specifically for that purpose. People are rude like your friend said.
Incredible location and trail,,certainly some of nature's finest. You have a great eye for the wonders and beauty of the trails offerings, thank you for sharing...God Bless and stay safe...
Awesome Margaret. I just watched a video from that area. Looks beautiful. I'm excited to get on my first backpacking trip this year at the end of the month.
Very beautiful area! Just before you mentioned there is no shortage of water I was thinking the water levels are really high. We've had such a problem the last few years with AT thru-hikers leaving trash at the shelters that local radio stations have even commented about it. But what's the problem someone else will pick up after me. My parents always have so why should I change now, right.
Cat... Hello again babe. Couldn't watch part one without seeing part two as well. Even your early videos have great music selections. Perhaps someday we can get together and compare notes. I know. Wishful thinking on my part. Another beautiful video sweetheart. Love you. 💕 Randy. 🎼✌
Another great video. This would've been a great hike alone but with a friend it becomes better than great. Thank you for sharing this. Just a suggestion to anyone day hiking near water (especially running water) if you've got a water filter (Sawyer maybe) just bring it and a water container and there won't be any water bottles to leave behind.
Awesome as always! After a year of using your Sony rx, are you still satisfied. After seeing your shots, I'm thinking of a light weight camera change also. It is about size and weight when backpacking as you know.
I see that you use the osprey camera pouch. I thought about getting it myself for a canon g7xii, but instead opted for the lowepro dashpoint 20. The key selling points are that the dashpoint opens wider and the zipper does not scratch the camera's body. You ought to check it out if that's ever been a concern with your osprey pouch. Happy trails!!!
I do notice the zipper scratches my camera. My poor camera has been beat up. I've dropped it several times. It takes a licking and keeps ticking. lol I need to get a new LCD screen because mine is so scratched up...not just from the pouch. I'm thinking of switching out cameras. I'll definitely check out that dashpoint. Thank you.
Hi Katherine. Another well done video. I have hiked to Pear Lake on the Lakes Trail above Tokopah Falls. From the Watchtower, you can see the trail and falls far below.
Thank you! After visiting, I've researched some of the other trails in the Park and am excited about getting back there to explore more. Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice. I see we share the arms out in wonder pose : ) I look forward to getting to Sequoia someday. I was in the park on Mt. Whitney years back, so techniclly I have been there, but not to the Sequoia-ish parts : )
Love the scenery, but have to be honest; I found the music quite distracting. Have you looked at using 'Nature Sounds'??? I go into the woods to hear the birds, wind and waves, but hey...still enjoyable, thanks.
Catherine, have you ever seen 1) Bear maulings father daughter in Glacier National Park? 2) Nite of the Grizzlies 1967 Glacier National Park? 3) Todd Orr's account of his double Grizzly Bear Attack in Montana? Todd was almost fatally attacked by SAME bear twice?
I have only covered about 300 miles in the Sierra and have many more miles still to see, but I can highly recommend the first part of the High Sierra Trail from Crescent Meadow to the Big Arroyo. There's no need to do the entire High Sierra Trail to Whitney and deal with the travel between Lone Pine and SEKI. Just get out the maps and plan your own hike, making a loop back to SEKI. I recommend that you include Hamilton Lakes, Precipice Lake, and the inspiring views of the Big Arroyo from Kaweah Gap. I have some photos from my 2016 hike and a description of the hike on Trail Journals at: www.trailjournals.com/journals/high_sierra_trail/2016 if you are interested. I would make some changes to my route by the way and don't necessarily recommend the loop that I did. It wasn't bad, but I think it could be improved.
Only 300??!! I hope to get to that point some day . haha Thanks so much for all the suggestions and I will check out your Journal. I've been coming across lots of videos of this area after posting these. It's definitely an area I want to delve into deeper. I can see how much more there is to explore. I just watched one where someone did the whole High Sierra Route to Mt. Whitney.

Enjoying your videos Catherine:-) The healing powers of nature.

Another stunningly beautiful place you guys are hiking....great soundtrack, oh all that water is s sharp contrast to my dry swamps!
Thank you Mike! We've needed this water. It is a welcome sight for sure.
The music for your videos are always perfect for the scene.
Thank you Celeste! Glad you enjoyed and I appreciate you watching!
Love it!! Just got back from a two day camp in the Grayson Highlands in Virgina . You get it girl...✌🏻💕☀️🌈
Awesome Margaret. I just watched a video from that area. Looks beautiful. I'm excited to get on my first backpacking trip this year at the end of the month.
Where is Grayson Highlands?????
Loved the video, what a gorgeous hike. And as always I thoroughly enjoy your music choices.

I will never understand littering! It is something that makes me angry for sure.
Lucky you! Very nice hike and really liked the combo shot at the end.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Glad I found your channel Catherine!! Great hiking going on !! Also good job on the descriptions of each area you visit! Subscribed!
Thank you so much and thanks for subscribing! Welcome!
Wow, what a gorgeous hike! Looks like you had ideal weather too :D
It was gorgeous!!! The weather was amazing. The only thing that could have made it better is less people. haha Thanks for watching Ruth!

I'm glad Julie joined me especially since it was a new area to me. Good suggestion. Thanks for watching.
7 min ohhh wow chills and my face as close to the screen 📺 taking into my soul
What a great trip. Had a bit of everything. Like others have said the soundtrack choices were perfect.
Thanks Tim. Glad you enjoyed the tunes. I used royalty free on Day 1 and real artists on Day 2. I think Day 2 wins the music challenge. lol
Another beauty! Curious what you carry in your pack when your just out for the day. What emergency items?

Wow those views are awesome .. lmao! @ Julie ..if you bring it in take it out , BAM!
She is a riot! She has me laughing all the time. Very witty and awesome sense of humor. I need to give her more camera time. hahaha.
Jaxx Drinkwater right? Fools leaving their trash! Ugggggggg
The lab would go crazy for all of that melted snow.
Dogs are welcome on this trail. :)
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures Really? I'm surprised. I've never heard of dogs being allowed on National Park trails.
I didn't know all of this existed. Just interesting
You guys picked a perfect time to do this hike..Amazing on the amount of snowmelt..How long is the drive from OC ?
It really was great timing other than the crowds. Spring is the best time to see the waterfalls flowing.
Awesome

ya, we are from Modesto. had no idea this place is so cool and so close....Oh hike it in, hike it out.

Hi there.
Sorry, Cathrine but that was a Really poor choice of music !!!!!!! 🥴😩
Your music is not doing justis 2 your video !! We want to hear nature only no concert!
