It's amazing how people don't realize how good 44c is. Funny how not long ago 44c was very expensive. Now budget knives are in 440c. JoeX doesn't really have practical value except for the fact he has proven expensive doesn't mean tough. I wish JoeX did a few other tests before he destroyed stuff. In the beginning he used to chop a antler or bone. That is a very useful test that 3v blades failed. I personally like toughness over edge retention. You cannot sharpen a huge chip. I really like this knife design i also like a price that lets me use it. Anything over $100 im scared ill break it or worse lose it. This knife looks like my favorite knife the schrade schf55 a great knife they stopped making. Nice video
I love mine! JoeX has some value. Always learn something about the knives he tests, Mine worked great and its an excellent design and kit. Price is right!!! A companion axe or saw and you are in!!!
That's a nice idea for a video CCO. I look forward to seeing that one. The Nedfoss seems like a decent brand. I like the size of that as well, and a good beefy stock. Take care.
The test JoeX conducted with this knife type was the first edition and without an firesteel. The blade at that time was not a 440C but a 8CR13MoV, which should not be far away from 440-type steels. But this test seemed Nedfoss to change the material. The Nedfoss Seal or the Seal-BK are regarded as the big brothers of the Hyenas. Despite the steel is a 8CR13MoV those knifes seemed to be real performers. By design the design the Hyenas is a good copy of the Wanger WOC II, which has a good reputation here in Germany. Greetings from here!
Yeah I saw that in some of the comments on that vid but didn't really know. Both steels can be really good with proper stock and heat treat. 8cr13mov can be very tough also. It would be interesting to see him do an update vid with the 440c. Great comment brother!
Good review! I ran across this brand while looking at knives and I had never heard of it before, so I appreciate your input. There's so many brands out there and it's hard to tell the good stuff from the junk. And as far as destruction tests, I guess they have some value, but I wouldn't pay for a knife just to destroy it.
@@CommonCentsOutdoorsman I finally watched a Joe X destruction video. I guess anything can be broken if you try hard enough, but I really don't see the point.
@8626John it could be telling. Certainly not a one and done test but you may see consistant patterns such as bands, steel type, heat treats, grinds, etc that may hold up or not.
@@CommonCentsOutdoorsman I suppose. But I don't abuse my equipment and I really can't envision a situation where I would need to stab a car to death or try to beat a brick to rubble with a knife. It doesn't make me angry or upset to see people test equipment to destruction; I just find real-world testing to be more useful. Which is part of why I enjoy your videos.
Sticking a knife in a log and pulling has no value at all 😏 it just shows how hard or soft the steel is hardened, if it bends it's soft, if it breaks it's hard 🤷♂️ and people think that's some quality issue because they have no idea about steel. The direction in which you put the force is important! (sry my English 😬)

Bone to edge is a great test. I really like this knife so far! Thanks brother!
I have bought three different N.F. knives, for the price they are excellent!

Thanks TK! So far so good with Ned.

Definitely hard to wreck a good knife on purpose. I'll let Joe do that lol. This one seems to be a winner!

Right on brother!
In reality it's just another Chinese milled knife. Nothing special about it. Just my opinion.
Pretty much but good nonetheless.
