K-ON! is a Japanese anime television series that was produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Naoko Yamada. The series follows a group of high school girls who join the light music club and learn to play instruments. The show is known for its cute and playful character designs, as well as its catchy music and light-hearted, slice-of-life story.
K-ON! is an anime that also answers the question of why there are so many great girl bands in Japan. In Japan, it hasn't always been unusual for high school girls to form a band.
K-ON! Also directly inspired some people in Japan to start bands. One of my favorites actually, was founded by someone who is a fan of K-ON!, Band-Maid

I don't know if you have noticed but the opening and ending music has different singers, Yui sings the opening and Mio sings the ending and this difference in type of music is also linked to Yui's personality being opposite to Mio's.
The true lead singer of Ho-Kago Tea Time isn't Aki Toyosaki's Yui, but Yoko Hikasa's Mio. HTT being Ho-Kago Tea Time. The girl with the keyboard is their resident rich but sweet girl Tsumugi "Mugi-chan" Kotobuki. The twintails you missed in OP 1 v.2 *is* Azusa Nakano, their rhythm guitarist. The short-haired girl with the headband is their drummer and club leader Ritsu Tainaka. They each have *very* unique, and expensive, instruments. Yui's is a Gibson Les Paul Standard in Heritage Cherry Sunburst, named Giita. Mio's is a Fender Precision Bass (Left-Handed Variant), called "Elizabass". Mugi's keyboard is a KORG Triton 128-key variant. Azusa wields a Fender Japan Mustang 1969 Reissue in Candy Apple Red, called "Mu-tan". Ritsu's drum set is a Yamaha Rick Marotta Signature Hipgig in Mellow Yellow. The four original girls are meant to be analogues for The Beatles, with Azusa coming in representing the fans as the Fifth Beatle. However, their instruments come from The Alan Parsons Project.
Oh that's an interesting comment. I was always wondering who the true lead of singer of HTT truly is. Mio was the original lead singer but we eventually see Yui sing more than Mio so I assumed that Yui became the lead singer because of Mio's shy personality. Yui was also the main focus of the first season so we see a lot of episodes from her point of view. In season 2, it seems that Azusa became the focus of a lot of episodes.
I'm not sure if it's canon or not, but I like to imagine the endings are their music videos. The show is very much about the school life of the band and the antics they get up to. It's very obvious that who ever was involved with making this show knew their stuff about music.
There is a part in the anime where they make a recording using the clothes from the first ending but in the anime it doesn't show the recording, it only shows the clothes But I might be confusing it with something done by fans because it's been a long time since I've seen it, like 15 years ago
I also imagine that the endings are when HTT are a real band after they got into college or after they finished college. They all look older and the music is much more mature sounding.
My all time favourite anime. It's an slice of life music anime. There are after school activities on the schoolground, and they wanted to form a music band. It shows their club activities when classes are over, how they practice and make new songs in their clubroom. And ofcourse the fun they have. Schoolfestivals, working for money for club founds, etc. Main characters: Hirasawa Yui - vocals, guitar Tainaka Ritsu - drummer Kotobuki Tsumugi - keyboard Akiyama Mio- vocals, bass Nakano Azusa - guitar Also there is a movie where they are going to the UK
Finished K-On few weeks ago and can easily say they are my all time favorites. I loved everything and cried like a baby after the movie. Can't explain, they just got me for real. Love them with all my heart and soul.
You should react to the op of "ya boy kongming" which in not only one of the best name translations of all time considering the original title would translate to "party people" but the op is also incredibly fun
If you enjoyed this, check out Bocchi the Rock! It's a currently airing anime that's similar to K-On!, but with the main character being an introvert with crippling social anxiety who wants to join a band to try and make friends and break out of her shell. There's currently 1 OP, 3 EDs, and 3 insert songs, all performed by the characters' band: Kessoku Band.
As a long time anime fan, I can say that K-On! is my favorite anime of all time just above Attack on Titan. Obviously the two have incredibly different vibes but it’s possibly the epitome of the slice-of-life genre and the attention to detail put into this series by Kyoto Animation is beyond comparison.
This is such a fun anime. It is a slice of life story about friends who hang around after school to do band things. HTT is the abbreviation of their band name which is Houkago Tea Time (Afterschool Tea Time). The song in the anime are very good too (the songs made by the band). My favorite is Tenshi ni Fureta Yo (Touched by an Angel), still bring me to tears everytime I listen to it.
Tenshi ni Fureta Yo was definitely my end of highschool years anthem. Listening to it while imagining separating from my friends was painful af. The song fits so well. And yes, it is still in my playlist 😆🥲 Oh and remembering the song was dedicated to Azu-nyan still breaks my heart 😭
There's a live performance of the voice actresses singing all the songs live... (I think there's a backing band hidden off stage if I remember correctly, but it's still awesome all the same).
And they actually did some of them live - you can tell by the quality. Yui’s VA already knew how to play acoustic. You can see her doing barre chords and such. And she flubbed the intro to My Love is a Hotchkiss* *A famous stapler brand.
The openings and endings are so iconic and fun. This show is fun and can get emotional at times. It's one of those shows you'll come back to revisit every couple years and still appreciate it.
Definitely watch this! Don't have to make a reaction. Its one of the best! Btw, the voice actress learn to play the instrument and have a concert. I think there is on RUclips.
K-ON! is still the best music anime in my opinion. The story is great, the music is really good, and it is addictive. A must see! The openings feature the lead singer Yui. The endings feature the bass player, Mio. Truth be told the whole soundtrack is banger, including the character songs.
In the series canon they are also written by those two, Yui being the one with the upbeat happy time songs, while Mio with her more melancholic outlook writes the darker toned endings. Which is why my personal Yui favourite will alway be U & I because it´s a rare gem of seriousness from the otherwise ditzy character.
after finish watching k-on, I found yt video live concert k-on on japan. it's hype to see real band perform all our favorite k-on song, it's so nostalgic ~
K-on has 2 seasons and a movie and it’s such an amazing show. The songs, the general vibe, the feelings, it all makes for an incredible experience that you can enjoy. Not to try to spoil but don’t go in expecting a major story line as it’s more of just high school life with music.
Finally, someone does this, if you watch this anime, you'll notice some similarity in this anime character's personality with Band Maid's band member, and yes, they sang these songs live too,
I've always found it a bit funny that Band-Maid and Hokago Tea Time! (the band's name in K-ON, for anyone who isn't aware) have a similar line up and origin story, though with some of the characteristics shared and switched around. Plus, both groups are awesome!
Nice reaction! 🤘🎸🎹🥁 This was literally the first series I've ever seen where there were no fights or complicated plots. K-ON! makes use of MOE, a genre that focuses on the adorable part of its characters. It is one of those series that you like simply for being relaxing to watch. That's why it's one of my favourites.
If I recall..Mio's (the bass player) VA, Hikasa, Youko, actually learnt to play bass left handed!..Even though she is right handed.....As Mio in the show is a left handed bass player.
I'm from north of Ireland. I first Discovered K-on! a week after it it first shown on Japanese T.v on an anime Stream. As a Semi-Pro Musician with Nieces that also do music we watched them together and it aspired them to let me teach them. To this day they are my star Students that was willing to learn thanks to this Gem of an Anime. Also, Rock music in Japan back then was thee best in the world imo even outshining USA. By hey... Music is Subjective... Rite?
K ON! = Kei Ongaku (Bu) = Light Music (Club). In Japan they have these school club activities where you dedicate yourself to a specific interest (such as chess, swimming, a.s.o.), and in the case of this show that interest would be music. These lasses join the Light Music Club, and we then get to see snippets of their daily lives together, and the mundane adventures that they undertake..! I love the show, I have watched the entire thing about four times, and it's such a great time! It's all very relaxed, with a comedic touch, and a pinch of... sugar..! I do acknowledge that it takes a certain taste in anime to enjoy the whole slice-of-life genre that features adolescents, but that's all up to personal preference.
Yes.. One of my 1st anime back on 2013. Quite popular for 1 to 2 years after that.. And the predecessor of cute girl do cute things Nice and relax anime And the opening and ending is different because the singer..
At 10:43 you see Mio holding the mic with her left hand (as she is left handed in the show) and it is gloved....At 10:50 you can see Ritsu (the drummer)..wearing the right handed glove from the same pair....She is Mio's childhood best friend.
Love this anime. It's often my work anime, meaning I play the episodes on a second screen while I work. The only unrealistic part about this slice-of-life feel-good show is how 'good' they are on stage, considering how little they practice on-screen. And another little fun fact (though I'm late to the party): Every shot showing anyone playing a musical instrument is animated realistically to the music they're playing.
I've watched anime since the 60s, being old and stuff. I found K-ON! online during the end of its first season and followed religiously, even going to Japan for the movie, but missing it due to rescheduling. Kyoto animation draws everything so lovingly, uses CGI to do the instruments, and employs rack focus and vignette focus quite often for subtle and effective touches. Though the story is "slice of life", and very little actually transpires, it's a fun romp through high school friendship. There are practically no men or boys in this, and parents are rarely seen or heard. It's an anime masterpiece, artistically. Story wise: fun and wonderful, but about as deep as a kiddie pool.
K-ON was one of those animes I found just scrolling through looking for something to watch. It surprised me with how much I was drawn in and just enjoyed watching it. It was immensely entertaining.
"K-On!" was an influence on Miku of BAND-MAID. She has mentioned she used to watch it as a kid...The girls (in the show) do some work as Maids in a cafe...to help Mio with her nerves...Akane (BAND-MAID drummer) was a member of a K-On! club at school...but she was the only member I believe...poor Akane.
this is a great show made by kyoto animation, one of the most renowned animation studios (seriously, they have made some incredable shows and movies) its a slice of life show that tends to be very laid back and wholesome, really its just about hanging out with friends. it has 2 seasons and a movie, and i would highly recommend checking it out along with some of kyoani's other works, especially "a silent voice" if you are ready for a heartbreaking but beautiful movie
ah yes, the anime that made me take, learn and play Bass more.. kekw the OP is sang by Yui (short hair guitarist) and it reflects her cheerful attitude while ED is sang by Mio (long black bassist) with her artistic choices there's couple of Insert Songs in the anime
This anime was BIG, it was the start (but not the first one) of a particular anime genere called, "cute girls duing cute stuff" ofc there are animes that did that before, but this one was the pinnacle of everthing it was moe. This anime probably caused this amazing generation of female musicians that we are enjoing now XD. The duality of the ops and endings you can kind of meta of how they transitioned from the school days to a mature female rock band.
K-On is at the top of my list and a treasure, absolutely great voice acting and choice of actors, even those who don't like slice of life will love it. It'll make you cry at least once in the first season and at least 2-3 times in the 2nd season.
HTT stands for Houkago Tea Time (After-school tea time), it's their band name. Also, what's interesting is that the voice actors of the show actually play the instruments their characters are playing as well.
The openings are them in high school days and the endings reflect the future 'more mature them as a band in colleges and HTT is their bandsname Hokago Tea Time.
Easily the most underrated and overlooked anime of all time by the most loved anime studio out there (kyoto animation) most of the people dont watch this cause the first season it's just a slice of life feel good show, but the second season gets really serious with the emotions of getting out of school and the feeling of never getting to chat again with those friends you made along the way. A true masterpiece and the best non shounen anime of the 2000s
Fun Fact: K-On was a strong influence for the foundation of BAND-MAID. Both bands has two singers, both bands has a charismatic character (Yui & Miku) on guitars
HTT is the name of their band it means houkago tea time or afterschool tea time it tells a lot about them actually, they spend more time on tea parties eating cake than actually playing music
Their band had 2 vocal on their song, if the song is fun, bouncy, innocent, cute, sweet etc the vocal is Yui who play a guitar rhytm. . When the song is cool, agresive, rock, cold etc the vocal is MiO who play bass . The theme of this anime series is a school life n they making a club for band music who already gone on their school n then they trying making a song, trying make a concert at club host music etc . Yui song is bright, fun, etc bcs this character is kinda goofy silly but cute n she's new on guitar instrument bcs of this club school That's why her song is so carefree but still full of fun . MiO the bassist is alrd veteran on music specially bass guitar. That's why her song is more mature cool dark rockish etc
Glad you liked it! I saw a commentary recently about the 3rd opening. If you play it slowly you can see it tells stories - Yui trying to get the audience to spin around; the girls putting a hocus-pocus on Yui’s strawberry, and more. I appreciate how you noticed the girls had different personalities.
The artificial Band of "Hokago Tea Time" has actually two singers like you propably recognized. I think it is just fitting that Yui always sings the openings and Mio is always the main voice of the endings. Also the openings are filmed at hotshots of school- and bandlife, when the endings are look like actual produced music videos... which gives me hope and some kind of mental rest that they actually got contracted Edit: I think I also have to state, that every single HTT song is actually possible to be played with the setup of the band. They don't need to rely on pre-records or samples for these songs to work.
El anime es excelente no haré spoilers solo diré que han pasado mas de 10 años de su estreno y sigue siendo uno de los mejores slice of slice de musica que he visto.. 🤘🤘
Great reaction! There's technically a movie ED called "singing" that you missed, but I don't think the ED version is on RUclips. Btw, HTT is their band name which stands for Houkago Tea Time, or After School Tea Time
One of the best parts of this anime is that the voice actresses actually learned how to play their instruments and performed a live concert in front of 35k people! It's amazing how much love and passion is behind this anime. Voice actresses are like superstars in japan and are very busy but they still took the time and effort to learn how to play guitar, bass, keyboard and drums.
'anime' you say? then 'God knows' song from Haruhi Suzumia is a must listen Also almost any soundtrack from 'Wolf's Rain'. We're talking Steve Conte, Yoko Kana, Raj Ramayya and others.
I think the OP are supposed to be written by the Brown hair girl singing them, and the ED are by the Black hair girl singing those. Or at least represent them. The brown hair girl Yui, is a pure air headed optimist that's incredibly sweet. Which leads to a chaotic happy song. The one singing in the EDs is Mio who normally writes the lyrics to the band's songs if I remember correctly. She is an introvert and a bit of a pessimist. So we get much more introspective and thought out lyrics from the song. At least that's my interpretation.
K-ON! Is such a warm and wholesome show one of my favorite animes, People misconstrude the show for not being a full on band in a school show it has that but K-ON! Is more about friendship coming of age going throgh school realizing things will change when you leave school but still wanting the friends you've made to stay close to each other that's the theme of this show friendship not so much like hardcore trying to be a band i wish more people would actually understand this instead of writing it off as cute girls doing cute things it's so much more than that and HTT is short for their band name Hokago Tea Time.
Omg, I can't believe you reacted to this!!! This anime is soooo good and soooo cute 💖 It's like... Musical candy: the anime lol really cheers me on every time I watch it
So K-On is a show about some high school girls who form a band together. It's a very lighthearted and fun show, but it is incredibly good. I think for a music lover there's almost no better show to introduce you to the "Slice of Life" anime genre. Of course, I say "Almost" for a reason, because some shows from this year are able to stand alongside it in quality. Namely, I think that you could also have a lot of fun with both "Bocchi the Rock" and "Ya Boi Kongming". I'd also recommend the openings and endings from either of them as the OP and ED from both are great. Edit: Okay, it's been so long that I forgot about how good ED 3 was visually. You pointed out that it has a bit of a darker feel and uses a more muted color palette, but did you notice that in addition to lowering the overall color saturation, they intentionally chose very mute colors while the band members were alone but then switched to dressing them in bright colors that punch through the lowered saturation when they all come together? Just an absolutely beautiful bit of visual storytelling there, but that's to be expected from Kyoto Animation (who are all but legendary for their visual and animation quality).
K-On was one of the early anime I watched and I had a great time with it. They are adorable and sometimes got me laughing my ass off. They have different personalities that fit so well as a group of friends and seeing them develop that relationship is the best thing about the show. Another amazing thing about the show is how the voice-actresses sang all the songs and gotta say almost all of the songs are bops. Including the openings, endings and some songs in the show. Great now I miss em. 🤣🥰
The openings are sung by Yui, the most childish and carefree of the five girls. The endings are sung by Mio, the most "serious" girl between them, but still she is very childish and shy. Also, the last ending "No, THANK You" it's meant to be the last song of the anime, since the letters on the word THANK are the first letter of each girl surnames Tainaka Ritsu Hirasawa Yui Akiyama Mio Nakano Azusa Kotobuki Tsumugi It's the last thank for the girls The story is that there's no story, it's just five girls in their music club playing music (although 90% of the time they don't even play, they just eat cakes, something that makes Azusa upset but she loves so much the cakes that she can't refuse) That's also why the band is called HTT = Houkago Tea Time = After School Tea Time
The OPs and EDs are actually sung by the voice actors of the characters from the anime, so it's not any specific band. More so, it's the girls band that they formed in the anime that is also singing these songs.
It’s only a guessing of mine. But, this anime, K-ON, is the one who gave the basic concept, I.e. “kawaii and cool music,” for Miku Kobato to form her band with. This band is today known as Band-Maid, all-girl, the best rock and roll band in the universe.
The openings are their evolution in present day. As you said they start alone in their small music club but by the last opening they finally perform in front of people. The ending are more of what they could be, if they unlashead their talent and reach pro level. Hence the whole song being filmed like a music clip, including costumes.
Fun fact: the school they attend to actually exists in real life. The Toyosato Elementary School was saved financially by this anime, even though it doesn't work as a school anymore, they turned it into a community center all visitors can enter to, it was declared a national heritage, and yes, there are K-on girls images everywhere

Don't Say Lazy is the first one
For me, Singing (K-ON movie ED) is the best one. So powerful and emotional.
The 3rd ending is "No, thank You."

It's an slice of life music anime.
There are after school activities on the schoolground, and they wanted to form a music band.
It shows their club activities when classes are over, how they practice and make new songs in their clubroom. And ofcourse the fun they have.
Schoolfestivals, working for money for club founds, etc.
Main characters:
Hirasawa Yui - vocals, guitar
Tainaka Ritsu - drummer
Kotobuki Tsumugi - keyboard
Akiyama Mio- vocals, bass
Nakano Azusa - guitar
Also there is a movie where they are going to the UK
Finished K-On few weeks ago and can easily say they are my all time favorites. I loved everything and cried like a baby after the movie. Can't explain, they just got me for real. Love them with all my heart and soul.
2nd Op Azuya was the fifth girl that joined the band. And she was shown multiple times very clearly....
You should react to the op of "ya boy kongming" which in not only one of the best name translations of all time considering the original title would translate to "party people" but the op is also incredibly fun
GOT games just reacted to it and hope he reacts to the full verison of the opening and ending
K-ON and Bocchi are amazing. Also, both main characters (Yui and Bocchi) use Gibson Les Paul.
the HTT that you keep seeing is short for Ho-kago Tea Time, the name of their band which translates to after school tea time
And have a life band too
K-ON! is the English phonic that is "Light Music" in Japanese (so if you say it in English you are speaking Japanese).
I don't know but from the style of the last song lyrics translation looks Cyrillic
Opening Vocal by Yui (Guitaris)
Ending Vocal by Mio (Bassis)
Ending vocalist, Yoko Hikasa, also did a first ending to Attack on Titan
I like to think the EDs are a what if version of them where they are more serious about making music and became a successful band.
And she flubbed the intro to My Love is a Hotchkiss*
*A famous stapler brand.
The openings and endings are so iconic and fun. This show is fun and can get emotional at times. It's one of those shows you'll come back to revisit every couple years and still appreciate it.
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad seems like an anime that would be up your alley. It's a more realistic band anime. With a focus on rock.
K-on is one of my favorite anime of all time, it's a really good show from a great studio.
Definitely watch this! Don't have to make a reaction. Its one of the best! Btw, the voice actress learn to play the instrument and have a concert. I think there is on RUclips.
FINALLY didn't think i would see anyone react to this K-ON! needs more attention to be honest.
K-ON! is still the best music anime in my opinion.
Which is why my personal Yui favourite will alway be U & I because it´s a rare gem of seriousness from the otherwise ditzy character.
i think the anime Beck is better. also detroit metal city.
There were two seasons and a film, the film takes place in London and it was so accurately drawn that I could recognise the streets.
currently practicing guitar because of this awesome anime
after finish watching k-on, I found yt video live concert k-on on japan. it's hype to see real band perform all our favorite k-on song, it's so nostalgic ~
Okay, this is take me waayy back to my mid school.
Holy shit, i'm OLD old... 😂
K-on has 2 seasons and a movie and it’s such an amazing show. The songs, the general vibe, the feelings, it all makes for an incredible experience that you can enjoy. Not to try to spoil but don’t go in expecting a major story line as it’s more of just high school life with music.
Finally, someone does this,
if you watch this anime, you'll notice some similarity in this anime character's personality with Band Maid's band member,
and yes, they sang these songs live too,
I've always found it a bit funny that Band-Maid and Hokago Tea Time! (the band's name in K-ON, for anyone who isn't aware) have a similar line up and origin story, though with some of the characteristics shared and switched around. Plus, both groups are awesome!
what i notice is that their intros are very pop like rock song then the endings are more in heavy rock kinda feels and it just feels so amazing
Nice reaction! 🤘🎸🎹🥁
This was literally the first series I've ever seen where there were no fights or complicated plots.
K-ON! makes use of MOE, a genre that focuses on the adorable part of its characters.
It is one of those series that you like simply for being relaxing to watch. That's why it's one of my favourites.
Still the 2nd season has a lot of development for me is the 2nd best non shounen/seinen anime of all time only behind kaguya sama
Anime for Chad
Yes.. One of my 1st anime back on 2013.
Quite popular for 1 to 2 years after that..
And the predecessor of cute girl do cute things
Nice and relax anime
And the opening and ending is different because the singer..
As a 30yo i would say that K-ON is a classic slice of life anime.
Also probably the first successful anime of its genre and spawning everything that came afterwards: CGDCT aka. Cute Girls Doing Cute Things...
You should have a look at how accurate the animation of the playing of the instruments are!
K-ON is epitome of blessed you just got recommended your new favorite anime of all time
You should listen to K-ON ost, this anime has alot of amazing song
Your reaction makes me want to see that anime again 🤣
this is a great show made by kyoto animation, one of the most renowned animation studios (seriously, they have made some incredable shows and movies) its a slice of life show that tends to be very laid back and wholesome, really its just about hanging out with friends. it has 2 seasons and a movie, and i would highly recommend checking it out along with some of kyoani's other works, especially "a silent voice" if you are ready for a heartbreaking but beautiful movie
and violet evergarden!
ah yes, the anime that made me take, learn and play Bass more.. kekw
the OP is sang by Yui (short hair guitarist) and it reflects her cheerful attitude
while ED is sang by Mio (long black bassist) with her artistic choices
there's couple of Insert Songs in the anime
This anime was BIG, it was the start (but not the first one) of a particular anime genere called, "cute girls duing cute stuff" ofc there are animes that did that before, but this one was the pinnacle of everthing it was moe. This anime probably caused this amazing generation of female musicians that we are enjoing now XD. The duality of the ops and endings you can kind of meta of how they transitioned from the school days to a mature female rock band.
This bring back memories, definitely my favorite music anime of all time👍👍
K-On is at the top of my list and a treasure, absolutely great voice acting and choice of actors, even those who don't like slice of life will love it. It'll make you cry at least once in the first season and at least 2-3 times in the 2nd season.
Basically the inspiration of multiple girl band in Japan, this is one of the most important anime for japan music world
HTT stands for Houkago Tea Time (After-school tea time), it's their band name. Also, what's interesting is that the voice actors of the show actually play the instruments their characters are playing as well.
IT'S FUWA FUWA TIME, IT'S FUWA FUWA TIME!!!!!!
I fucking love the Endings for K-On... I watch them to the end every episode.
I brought the box set collection of K-On!...and the Movie...AND!..some of the manga when I went to Japan to see BAND-MAID!
9:55 - YES!!!!! And endings so much better!!
This show is genuinely lovely in every sense of the word.
The openings are them in high school days and the endings reflect the future 'more mature them as a band in colleges and HTT is their bandsname Hokago Tea Time.
im never expecting this reaction.. buuuutt thank you very much, i love K-On.. wohooooooo
K-on the best.
Fun Fact: K-On was a strong influence for the foundation of BAND-MAID. Both bands has two singers, both bands has a charismatic character (Yui & Miku) on guitars
I love that the K-On Openings are so frenetic, the Endings are more like heavier but the show itself is just the most chill and wholesome of them ALL.
HTT is the name of their band
it means houkago tea time or afterschool tea time
it tells a lot about them actually, they spend more time on tea parties eating cake than actually playing music
K-on was my very first anime i have watched and i love it to bits
do on "K-ON the movie"
~ K-ON! The Movie Metal Scene
~ K On! Fuwa Fuwa Time
~ K-On! - First time playing - Tsubasa wo Kudasai
WOOOOOOOOOOOO K-ON YEEEEEEAAAASSSSS YEAAAASSSSS HOLY COOOOOOWWWWW YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS
If you like the contrast, check out the OP and ED for Asobi Asobase.
Their band had 2 vocal on their song, if the song is fun, bouncy, innocent, cute, sweet etc the vocal is Yui who play a guitar rhytm.
.
When the song is cool, agresive, rock, cold etc the vocal is MiO who play bass
.
The theme of this anime series is a school life n they making a club for band music who already gone on their school n then they trying making a song, trying make a concert at club host music etc
.
Yui song is bright, fun, etc bcs this character is kinda goofy silly but cute n she's new on guitar instrument bcs of this club school
That's why her song is so carefree but still full of fun
.
Also the openings are filmed at hotshots of school- and bandlife, when the endings are look like actual produced music videos... which gives me hope and some kind of mental rest that they actually got contracted
Edit: I think I also have to state, that every single HTT song is actually possible to be played with the setup of the band. They don't need to rely on pre-records or samples for these songs to work.
El anime es excelente no haré spoilers solo diré que han pasado mas de 10 años de su estreno y sigue siendo uno de los mejores slice of slice de musica que he visto.. 🤘🤘
I forgot how well done these OP and ED are
The ones that could compare are the OP and ED of Gundam SEED and Blood+
Great reaction! There's technically a movie ED called "singing" that you missed, but I don't think the ED version is on RUclips. Btw, HTT is their band name which stands for Houkago Tea Time, or After School Tea Time
One of the best parts of this anime is that the voice actresses actually learned how to play their instruments and performed a live concert in front of 35k people! It's amazing how much love and passion is behind this anime. Voice actresses are like superstars in japan and are very busy but they still took the time and effort to learn how to play guitar, bass, keyboard and drums.
'anime' you say? then 'God knows' song from Haruhi Suzumia is a must listen
Also almost any soundtrack from 'Wolf's Rain'.
K-ON is legendary, and one of my favorite slice-of-life anime! I'm so glad you covered it!
This anime is soooo good and soooo cute 💖
It's like...
K-ON! is a wordplay from keion, meaning light music
I still listen to the full length version of Don't Say Lazy on Spotify from time to time, such a bop.
Also, the last ending "No, THANK You" it's meant to be the last song of the anime, since the letters on the word THANK are the first letter of each girl surnames
Tainaka Ritsu
Hirasawa Yui
Akiyama Mio
Nakano Azusa
Kotobuki Tsumugi
It's the last thank for the girls
The story is that there's no story, it's just five girls in their music club playing music (although 90% of the time they don't even play, they just eat cakes, something that makes Azusa upset but she loves so much the cakes that she can't refuse)
That's also why the band is called HTT = Houkago Tea Time = After School Tea Time
The OPs and EDs are actually sung by the voice actors of the characters from the anime, so it's not any specific band.
The last op & ed changes the vibe when you hit the episode 18 onwards.
Their is also a K-On! Movie where they come to the UK.😊
you are one step from entering the anime iceberg now that you watched K-ON
One of my all time fav animes... I still listen to the band Hokage teatime...
My first contact with anime merch, i still have all the DVD's, CD's, the HTT shirt, posters... I love K-on!
The openings are their evolution in present day. As you said they start alone in their small music club but by the last opening they finally perform in front of people.
The ending are more of what they could be, if they unlashead their talent and reach pro level. Hence the whole song being filmed like a music clip, including costumes.
