    Mechanic 25 years here but everything you said was accurate for example taking the ECM or PCM or the car‘s computer in Laymans terms can be removed multiple times as long as you don’t force anything in the clips that you moved are designed to align the pins with each other so no damage on either side of the connection that’s just one of the things I do agree with you on the NGK they’re wonderful plugs

    • @effortlessproductions

      @@rakish001 No, I think he just means that if you have an issue which may involve diagnosing the ECU under warranty then you would want to swap it to stock ECU so you don't get voided. But if it's just regular maintenance then you don't have to worry about it.

    The only reason why tuners recommended the HKS M45XL is because it was one of the few heat 9 plugs out. The only other plug was the NGK R2556G-9, which is a straight up racing plug and what I'm currently using with the SXTH stage 2. These ILKR9Q7G has to be brand new plugs to the market. If anything, probably released sometime mid to the end of last year.
    Oh and all the HKS plugs are made by NGK too. So it didn't make much sense to me why NGK didn't make a heat 9 plug directly. But I'm glad they do now as $100+ for street plugs is stupid. Went from the M45XL to the NGK R2556G-9 and it works far better with the stage 2. Less throttle lag and a much smoother and cleaner sound.

    Nathan from SXTH here :) Glad you are enjoying! As for the spark plugs, we do not get any sort of kickback. We actually go to great lengths to source the HKS M45s. The HKS plugs are made by NGK and have a different electrode and core features. We have had issues with the NGK 1422 spark plugs cracking the ceramic insulators in the past but haven't had this with the HKS plugs which is why we use them!

    • @williamrori1274
      @williamrori1274 2 года назад +5

      The tune absolutely rips. I'm anxiously waiting for the EK1's to come in (not only so I can do map switching), but also to look at the data myself and run some v-dynos. As for the spark plugs, we'll have to agree to disagree. Firstly, you guys make money from selling the HKS plugs - otherwise they wouldn't be for sale on your website. That one is going to be pretty hard to deny (which is fine, it's a business). Secondly, it's impossible to deny someone's personal experience on anything, but these aren't 1422's. In fact, they have the same .6mm Iridium electrode and they share the same platinum ground electrode. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the M45XL IS the NGK ILKR9Q7G. For me, unless there's specific data that SXTH or any tuner can share between these plugs that would warrant any tangible benefit, I'm going to stick with the cheaper and better named part. Pick your poison, I just want consumers to make educated decisions for the community to become faster as a whole.

    FYI ...Just changed to this plug in My 18' E.S. DCT with no tune D.P, intake, exhaust. Just the plugs make a hell of a difference to smooth out any boost surging, inconsistency, and much more consistent response on light tip in from a stop as well as seem to boost full power. Even the DCT is upshifting to second sooner on light take off instead of that weird holding first a hare too long and taking timing feeling, dont know why that is but it really refines the throttle engine relationship like when using higher octane fuel, but not.

    RE: Your thoughts about the HKS plugs, when we all started tuning DI in the hyundai community with the VT, Soul Turbo, Forte Turbo , YF Sonata, Elantra Sport, Bk2 3.8 Genny and Now Elantra N , Veloster N. We all went the NGK route and we saw an extreme amount of spark plug failures where the ceramic fails and drops off the tip of the plug this has happened to me and many of my customers over the years. The preferences of the tuners stem from the HKS being the solution to ceramic cracking and failing. HKS is NGK but built with custom specifications. Now would you really want to maybe hope that your NGK don't crack and destroy your motor or go with something that we figured out over the last decade of tuning KDM cars.

      Yep, literally no reason to run the HKS plugs. NGK is the largest OE when it comes to plugs in the world, and it's what comes standard. It's just straight up dishonest for the tuning companies to claim you need the HKS plugs.

    • @DylanVBWRX
      @DylanVBWRX 2 года назад

      You don't need hks plugs, but you need one step colder plugs.
      Running a “colder” heat range spark plug will reduce temperatures in the combustion chamber by wicking more heat into the cylinder head. This reduces feedback knock and fine knock learning when running gasoline tunes.

    Love this car! Used to have a 2009 bmw 335xi tuned stage 1 but also had intake. The best thing about the tuning was that you could press a button in the car to turn the tune on and off. When it was off the dealership computers couldn’t tell the tune was installed so was able to keep warranty. 415 hp all wheel drive. I cried when BMW dropped manual transmissions from all the 3 series except for the M3.. and when audi dropped manuals in their S3 and S4 lines. Such a sad sad sad life having like 5 4door sedans that come in manual these days to choose from that aren’t ridiculously priced.. and most are so ugly. This car brought hope and faith back! I know electric cars are soon going to be the only cars but not there quiet yet so my last car before then must be manual.. and it’s this car! Looks like a pretty easy install.. love the test drive after install. Passengers face was pretty classic.

    What about all of the security/immobilizer/key pairing stuff? Now, if we can get the manufacturers to make/sell wagon (long roof) versions of these cars (Including Golf.:R and WRX) in the US; that would be fantastic. As far as HKS junk, they do it all the time; contract out a part, have it made for them, then put their name on it, then demand a premium for it. I don't trust HKS anything as there are always better alternatives. Are you going to change the BIG-3 ground wires to or add up-sized grounding wires in the engine bay? I am amazed how potent these cars actually are and that Hyundai puts their money where their mouth is and races the platform.

      There's no such thing as a voided warranty. You can, however, have an individual warranty claim denied because of modifications. If you want to guarantee you'll never have any warranty issues, don't modify the car.

      That's the last stat I would benchmark. Doing high rpm clutch drops and dealing with the ensuing wheelhop is not good for the car, just to get a lackluster 0-60 time. Plus times would be wildly inconsistent based on the launch. I would do 30-90mph pulls if you are trying to compare before and after.
