Over the last fifty years or so, I have heard many opinions and official reports about situations that have come up in the Middle East. Having watched actual events for so long and learned a lot more about what things really mean, I find that much of what was represented to me as fact was not reliable information. Events have always been distorted in some way to fit the foreign policy of the times. This is understandable given the nature of politics, especially in a democracy; but a more clear version of reality is always a good thing, a thing which most people in authority shy away from again and again, probably due to their own misunderstanding of the reality that they are influencing. One grabs for suoptimal solutions as a matter of course when better solutions are hard to sell. Inevitably, this results in prolonged grief, especially for the people on the street who have to pay the price, and not so much for the politicians.

While US military leadership may be very supportive of Israel one must remember that they do not determine US foreign / defense policy. If the Biden administration decides to block delivery of munitions to Israel, there is little American military commanders can do about it. While the Biden administration is committed to providing defensive systems to Israel it may not support Israel if Israel decides to use offensive force to deter its enemies (i.e. by attacking Hezbollah for example). So it would be best for Israel to be clear eyed about how much it can depend on the US if it must use offensive force to preempt / deter its enemies.
