I live in Zone 9 and live in subdivision. I have 2 raised beds. We are successfully growing okra, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe and corn. Currently, it’s 92-96 and humid. I use by compost to make compost tea. Success!
Yes on the chicken video!! Seeing comments on tomatoes; for better growth, chew up tums or any antacid, put it in the bottom of the hole, also about a teaspoon of epsom salt and grass clippings around the base about an inch off the stem.
Thanks for the tips! Looks like there are a few others that have are interested in my chicken video. Plan to shoot one in August when the kids get back into school.
@@SouthernDirtGardener So you mentioned camping. I'm going to be tent camping at an air show before going to Florida so I'll have all my gear. Do you know of beaches where I can camp? Or any other good spots to pitch a tent in Florida?
These videos are so helpful! Thank you for doing them! And for sharing all your garden experiments so we can learn too. I'd love to see a video on the chickens! And would definitely be interested to come for a visit and learn more as I am planning to start a food forest soon in either 9b or 10.
I'm glad your learning from my videos!! I wish I had someone to follow in my zone when I started. I'm already writing down notes on what I wish I would have known before I bought chickens. I'm glad there is an interest. I'll let you know when I'm ready to open up my farm stay. Make sure you are signed up for my newsletter.
Yes chickens and workshops/ garden tours. I'm not sure where you're located but I'll be visiting Ocala, Daytona, to Tampa in a couple weeks. I'm looking to move to Florida, just not sure where.
I'm in Highlands County. I love every part of Florida! It's becoming a popular state to move to recently. Born and raised in Florida and blessed to be here!
hey. I just finished your video. thank you for sharing. I am really close to you and I am finally staring my garden. I am interested in attending a work shop. I also would like to buy some loofah seeds.
You're welcome!! Thanks for watching! Make sure you are signed up for my newsletter so I can inform you when our next workshop is. Probably end of August...all my seeds are $6.00 Each. I can ship them out tomorrow after payment has been received. Here is my PayPal account paypal.me/southerndirtgardener?locale.x=en_US Thanks for the order! You're going to have so much fun growing them!!
Have you ever dealt with bunnies in your garden ? I have one showing up and has eaten all of my bush beans , which I didn’t care for as such because it’s too hot for them anyways , but today it ate the stem of my long yard beans 😭
Enjoyed your video very much!!! What are you using to water your garden? I see what looks like tubing or soaker hoses laying on the ground in the rows. We’re revamping my garden and are trying to decide on the best wagering solution. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!! We are using a drip system. I started with watering by a hand then we put in misters in. My plants we always so sick and learnd more about drip irrigation. Probably the best investment I ever made other than a fence. It was easy to install and we have timer set to water every day. Your garden will thank you later:=)
Sarasota area here. My tomatoes are splitting and not doing well. Chilies are growing well. Just planted cucumbers. All herbs are thriving. I spray with neem oil weekly.
Hi. I noticed in your newsletter that you aren't selling any sweet potatoes. Could you recommend a good place I could get them from? I'm also in zone 9b
@@ThePrincessajojo Awesome!! Thank you so much!! You are going to love it!!! What color did you get? I can't wait to put mine together. Video coming soon of what I'm planting in it🎉
@@SouthernDirtGardener I just went with the original white. I figured it would blend well with the it's surroundings. I'll keep an eye out for that video! If you could, please include how you plant your seeds in there e.g. how deep in the soil they need to go, and which plants should be in the higher tier vs. the lower ones.

Bunnies were my worst nightmare when I started gardening. I asked for fence for my Birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas😁 fixed the bunny problem.

Make sure you do it in the early morning if using neem.
This is the hottest moth of the year. It's hard
@@SouthernDirtGardener Thanks!🙂
What kind of blueberries are you growing?
Emerald, they produce twice a year.
What do you do for nematodes?
I treat the garden with a organic nematode control.

I wish I could. They are so hard to find. I found mine at Tractor Supply. You always could use some organic ones from the store.
