That's real. Lots of kids develop the accent from early exposure to US media since their toddler brains can't tell the difference between parasocial and social interaction. Usually they grow out of it.
@@ilyarepin9490 we also often over pronounce the sounds in words, including the letter “r” and over pronouncing that letter alone makes us sound much more American. So I don’t know for sure but I think the reason they were asking Hasan about soil on his shoes and if he was coming from Indonesia or South America is because they want to prevent the spread of the bacteria that causes Melioidosis, which spreads through soil and is already present in northern Australia as well as the aforementioned regions of the world.

I’m autistic but yeah I can confirm as a Brit all the autistic kids would end up having American accents, I’m not sure if it’s from watching lots of media with accents during development due to the typical lack of social interaction during the early years of autistic life
Many American kids are developing British and Aussie accents due to Peppa pig and bluey. I don’t think autism has much play in that, more exposure, so I think you’re more spot on about it media driven. To be fair though, I have autism with echolalia.. so if I listen to an accent often enough I will find I repeat it entirely without thinking. Which can be quite inadvertently rude to the person to the accent I’m talking to 🤦♀️
Eating dog in Korea comes from desperation during war and famines. People ate any food they could to survive. So it has been what some old people have continued to eat and slowly disappearing leading up to the new ban.
Autistic Australians will often pronounce the letter “r” at the end of words (other Aussies don’t usually do that) and they’re less likely to cut words short in general. Many put extra emphasis on the “r” sound, which is often enough to sound American to Australians tbh. So Aussies typically pronounce things a bit like “I'm drivin’ my cah” whereas autistic Aussies are more likely to say “I’m driving my carr”, basically, with more emphasis on the sounds in each word. Plus many autistic Aussies will adopt accents from television shows they watch a lot more easily too, which are often American shows. Point is that it’s true Autistic Aussies sound more American on average lol. I used to be told I sounded a bit American and a bit British, and when on Xbox live as a child Americans told me I sounded British and the British told me I sounded American. Sounding a bit British is also a relatively common autistic Australian thing due to the same reasons as why we sound a little more American on average.

Because humans are disgusting psychopaths. But then again so are the animals we eat. They don’t actually have empathy, because if they did, it would be hard to constantly murder, which they need to do to survive. However, many species besides humans also commit atrocities that aren’t required for survival, such as rape and inflicting pain for entertainment. Humans are just the worst because they have slightly more advanced brains.
49:21 anthropology student here! It’s not hypocritical at all to see some animals as food but not others (like dogs). It’s very much a cultural thing. For humans, dogs have a very important role socially, especially in western countries (they protect us, they are our companions, among other things) so it just seems insane to eat them, but other cultures might not see them the same way, which is why they eat them, even if some people have them as pets. There’s a book that talks about all this, it’s called “good to eat” by Marvin Harris. I recommend it, it’s really good!
