My JW parents had 7 kids. 4 aged out as atheists, 1 aged out as agnostic. 1 passed away too young to form religious beliefs. 1 left but still has some belief in a god. 7 kids and no child staying. My mother is the only one left. Age 75 still waiting for her paradise. Thinking all her children are doomed. 50 years of the end is around the corner and she can't see it any other way. It's sad.

Tim, I really appreciate the tone and the honest discussions you have with people from the various expressions of Christianity. As a former King James Only IFB-although still a Theist- I can corroborate and relate to the stories of what it's like to be a part of these sub-cultures. It is absolutely shameful and embarrassing that Atheists and Agnostics show more care, concern and empathy for their fellow human beings than many Christians.

I’m reminded of the day when my husband came home from work, and I told him I was no longer a believer! He was so happy because he had carried his disbelief for so long and was afraid to share it with me. It’s just another example of how harmful religions can be.

Wow good to see as EXJW myself, this interview. Nice couple and the shirt! Since I woke JW that was supposed to be the only TRUTH and the only TRUE BIBLE, and realizing that this org was messing up the Bible, I rather questioned Bible God: How can you ALLOW your WORDS to be translated or interpreted anyway a Christian cult want it it to be! Aren’t YOU the One to STOP anyone or any groups to do such things! Well, actually No Answer from Up, so I started reading it by my open eyes and found out this book is actually what his T shirt writes, no wonder WT was able to translate it anyway they wanted😅I’m also fully woke from WT and Bible!
Regardless if a god exists or not it is evil to force someone into the type of existence that they might hate to exist in and it's extremely abusive to force someone into the type of existence where they will suffer against their will or possibly suffer horribly against their will and that's why it's evil to have children. To hurt yourself is one thing, but to force someone else into the type of realm where they will also be hurt is not okay.
Usually in a deconversion or change in beliefs process the other spouse does not understand and often the couple splits. How encouraging to see them working together trying to figure it out. How unusual and how comforting. They just may be soul mates. Next comment about Jehovah ;-)
Hi Tim. I developed a new definition of ‘friend’ and ‘friendship’ when my late husband was diagnosed with dementia. His neurologist told us ‘friends’ (?) would disappear like smoke and they did. I try to be a good friend within my new definition. I see lots of parallels with what I hear in your interviews. Maybe we don’t lose friends - maybe we had the wrong definition of friendship’?
Noel said something about we're all human. We're not perfect. We all go through things "in secret." I would suggest that we all go through things "in private" or "in our personal lives". Man I’ve never related to somebody so much in my life. I was raised a Jehovah Witness & when Noel mentioned the thunder and lightening thing I remember when I was a kid even when I saw thick grey clouds I use to get the worst anxiety. Never admitted this before but I use to hide under tables during storms back then. I didn’t realise other people felt this way until seeing this video because I was an only child during my time as a witness (left when I was 10) and didn’t really have friends from the meetings. I’m in my 30s now. Thanks for the vid!
I personally did not see racism in congregation I was in. But I also heard there was undercurrents and overt racism in other areas. That was the one thing that attracted me to JWs was the affirmation of inclusiveness of all peoples and all nations and peaceful cohabitation.

Rutherford had expensive homes, other dwellings, expensive cars, alcohol- while missionaries and people in Bethel went without. Ray Franz was truly dedicated, went without, and I think his wife had gotten really ill in their missionary work. Rutherford had his own clique.
It's wild how the conversation of "if Jesus existed then all the claims about him and his says are real." Why doesn't that work for Buddha Śākyamuni. He predates Jesus by 600 yrs
I am not convinced that a hell exists, but I don't know if a bad or horrible afterlife exists or not. But if a hell does exist then it would be extremely evil for a god or for christians or for anyone else to force someone into the type of existence where they would be forced to be in horrible jeopardy of possibly going there.
Hell and afterlives are impossible we all die and disappear like monkeys and cavemen, neanderthal deaths, human deaths all the same. Its scary. Enjoy this life

I'm throwing down some scripture a bit of tongueand cheek that I find appropriate for ex-JWs (and evangelicals and Catholics alike!) OK Here's a quick study on Jehovah the God of this world. Psalm 18:8 "Smoke poured from his nostrils; fierce flames leaped from his mouth. Glowing coals blazed forth from him." Notice how smoke poured from his nostrils and flames leaped from his mouth. What image does that bring to mind? Numbers 11:1 "Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp." Did he breathe fire on them? Did he burn some of them alive? But there's many other verses of the LORD killing people. A google search of Bible Old Testament God killing shows there's an estimated 2.4 million people that the LORD killed in the Old Testament. Maybe he did it because he considered people his disposable property which brings us to Psalm 24:1 "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;" we'll get back to this verse in a minute. So lets jump to: John 8:44 where Jesus is talking to the Pharisees "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth". The devil was a murderer from the beginning. And what about the LORD? The LORD from the beginning has been killing folks and by some accounts: 2.4 million people. Could the LORD be the Devil? Remember Psalm 24:1 The LORD claims to own everybody in the world. Lets look at Matthew 4:8-9 "Then the devil took him (Jesus) up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, 9and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me.” The Devil owns the world and its inhabitants. But the LORD says that he owns the world and all its inhabitants! Could the LORD and the Devil be the same person?!?!?! Devil means accuser and Jesus said that the devil was a murderer. The LORD certainly accused a lot and killed a lot..... And the Apostle Paul says that Satan is the god of this world. Have Christians unwittingly been worshiping the Devil aka Satan?
