There's one thing I've always found funny about the movie speed. Is they have to stay above 50 at all times these old buses wont or will barley do 50 empty on a flat roadway with a healthy detroit
Man this video is freaking hilarious! Not only was the Fishbowl blasting the whole neighborhood with the 6V71N, but your laughter added to the hilarity! I love it! 5 stars.
Excellent video. When I heard "Sh..t" and "OOF" at the beginning I knew this was going to be a fun ride. I'm envious. Even with a muffler those buses were loud. And the "Old Look" predecessors were louder. It's still music to my ears.
I think its the uneven exhaust being that the engine is transversely mounted. The Fishes were not only loud, but they had a ringing tone that only their flxible Ugly Duckling twin had. NOw, Santa Monica's DDEC3 6v92 powered 86 Fishbowl sounds Robotic. Like a "run of the mill RTS"
I Drove the same Type of Bus with no Muffler back In the 80’s for Then Queens Transit/Surface now MTA Bus at 0600 rush hour on Main Street Flushing I loved it but the inspector said are u kidding me that thing is way too loud bring it back to the yard. Lol
Man nothing beats the old simple 2 stroke Detroits some of the toughest and reliable diesels ever made general motors knew how to build some work horses yea their gutless but wouldn't die there's a reason every firetruck back in the 60s 70s and 80s had detroits
Nothing the sound of a screamin Detroit!! Music to my ears, and what better than in a classic fishbowl!! Best damn public transit busses ever made in my opinion!! Can't beat that classic fishbowl look either. Timeless !! Looks like you're having a blast too 👍👍
I think they used these here in NYC too right? That brings back childhood memories lololololol. They’d stay in first forever then slam into second gear while rattling and bouncing around lolololol. If I recall the early ones had exhaust on PASSENGER rear lolololol. It would pull out and those who got off or waiting for another line got a dose of soot n smoke lolololololol. Ahh good ole days lol
The fumes would probably choke a elephant that's what real diesels should smell like like raw diesel fuel and smoke all this new garbage with def smells like swimming pool chlorine. If you can't stand beside it after it's been parked and it dosent smell like someone's spilled 30ga of diesel beside you until you smell that from a parked Detroit you don't know what real diesel fumes smell like sadly the tings that made them so great them being 2 strokes screamingwaking half the state up and exhaust dirtier then a back alley hooker the epa killed the old detroit 2 stroke
It's not that hard to drive a Detroit either it's idling or foot to the floor they run most efficiently at wide open throttle I miss the old 2 stroke gm Detroits but what makes them so special is what killed them off by the epa. They are so loud if you had to drive one every day all day it gets annoying and they where pretty gutless but nothing will kill them tmore reliable then your favorite hammer. I always thought the movie speed was funny have to keep going over 50 hell going downhill empty floored you might squeeze 50 out of her but 40 is where they are most happy the automatics anyway. And it's fun driving with that steering wheel the size of a ship wheel or new car rim
That damn bus got soul. Sounds like a legendary singer with a raspy voice!!!!
Speed 3: Waking up the entire town.
@@antoniojmonetti Same at Calgary when they retired theirs around same time.
Lmfaooooooo

Yea that always was a nit pick for me too as if those old buses raced down the road doing 50-60+ mph lolololol
Man this video is freaking hilarious! Not only was the Fishbowl blasting the whole neighborhood with the 6V71N, but your laughter added to the hilarity! I love it! 5 stars.
+TheCRTman - that was the best part.
This video I actually laugh so hard! 😂😂

i still like the noise of the Detroit engine screaming the sound is so funny when pulling away love the engine noise sound like its constipated
3:15 Yeah those possibly Younger Generation passengers were like "What the Hell is that?"
If the sound of that bus doesn't cure erectile dysfunction, nothing will.
+bababooey7576 - Not even the strongest dosage of viagra could cure erectile dysfunction compared to a nice loud fishbowl.
ea90744 lol, so true. What I wouldn't do to drive that exact bus...
+ea90744 but stick shift units already have an erection a four speed one. Automatic ones a stubby one
bababooey7576 Oops!
Lool

Definitely loud and proud!
I'm hearing that bus! AC Transit had that same sound too years ago.
Man I WISH I was driving that!! LOUD DETROIT and disturbing the peace! AWESOME! 😎🔥👍🏾🥰🤟🏾😆🤴🏾
Sounds like a good time lmao. The oldtimers I work with say this was their fav bus to drive.
If you don't love this video then it's just not in your blood
Agreed!!!
ruclips.net/video/thKPhOW1fSQ/видео.html
You gotta mash that peddle hood and hard to get that transmission to twist its ass
Great exhaust sound
Only problem with this video is that it’s too short lol need a good 45 mins
Lucky driver really
A legendary coach like this is supposed to be loud!
id put my foot on the throttle and id keep it there floor it loud and proud let that detroit scream Vrooooooooom!
Only similar bus that could be louder would be a 1982 T6H-5307 with a 6V92TA if the muffler was off. Hard to say for sure with the turbo it has.
damn bro that sound good
Holy fuck that detroit wants to get out of the engine bay
You need strong arms to drive these. I miss mine
Definitely driving it like he stole it
3:00-3:03 😂😂😂😂
That Echo!
That thing got some pep in it for an old city bus.
the one guy jumped back like was shock
Dang! That thing is loud! I'll bet the fumes could choke a horse.🙊😷

Ah... the sweet sound of a Detroit Diesel motor.
Screamin' Jimmy!!!
Straight pipes? All it need is an engine brake
God damn bro
+Jason Crable - life as we know it.
Yes sir
long gears
Sounds like a Detroit 6v71 diesel.
Joyriding??
+Curtis Chaney - you know it !
@@ea90744 - owner of the bus was the other voice in the video
Man that sound😂🤣
6:22
WOW I just lost my mind LOL 💀💀💀😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
awesome
Waking up the Dead 💀
Shit Eddie lol u took off man! 😂
Gun it some more!!!!!💜🔥🔥
Love it LOL!!!!!
+Andre Washington - No muffler, holes in the exhaust, and a manifold leak... yeah buddy. Best thrill ever
any new videos do you have a facebook
Love this. Hahaha
omg
If this bus did not have a muffler, it should not have been on the road in the first place.
Sounds like he doesn't know how to drive it
+2dfx - sounds like he knows how to drive it. lemme ask u...have u ever driven a 50 year old GMC Fishbowl without power steering ?
