  • The new Pentel Floatune is now sold in a super smooth 1.0mm. I've tested this pen out fairly extensively and really do like it, though the standard (0.8 mm) size is quite nice as well. In this video I talk about the 1.0mm Floatune and then compare it to the Sharpie S-Gel, Pilot V10 RT, Uni Eye which are also very broad rollerball pens.

I gave these a try and thought they wrote fairly well. My favorite rollerball style pens are still the Stabilo workers because of their comfort and smoothness.

Yes the worker / bionic is amazing.

Not sure about the manufacturer's claims regarding the properties of the ink but Uni-ball's, so called, 'Super Ink', in the Uni-ball Eye pens are said to be waterproof, fade-proof and tamper-proof (as regards chemicals and solvents, like a forger might use). I just tested my black, bold, 1.2mm Eye and it dried within 1 second, with no smudge.
Uni-ball eye and Uni Super-ink is great.

I’m kinda old school and grew up on roller ball pens but they can smudge as the ink takes a little longer to dry …
My preferred size is 0.7 mm
    BTW, great comparison video !

A surprising product launch it was. These started popping around in my country on the summer of last year for the back to school season. I was intrigued and just recently got one which seemed to be the last available one. I like it, it is indeed super smooth and it keeps writing reliably even if left uncapped for a while. I like the simple yet stilysh design and materials. Hope it is available again so I can get the other colors.
A few years back Zebra launched, also unexpectedly, the Target RB which seemes to compete in the same category. I liked that it was fairly cheap, has a rubber grip and is available in brown ink. Seems to have been redesigned as I find a couple of different versions online, one very similar looking to the Pilot Precise V5 from the old days. Almost nobody talked about it, perhaps because it is not as smooth or notable, and is really cheaply put together (mines have cracking caps even when I have taken good care of them and used them sparingly) but I liked the vivid colors and as a fan of brown inks was very pleased. Whish they made them in more colors, like purple.

I have always loved the vision/eye line the best by far in the world of rollerballs. Not only are they so fun to write with they also have that BLX line and the Uni Super Ink so they're the only Roller balls I know that are waterproof

I love the capped Precise pens - have been a favorite since they came out until I found fountain pens.

I appreciate all the great videos you are posting on a wide variety of pens out there.
Just ordered and received the 0.8 mm after watching this review yesterday, I think I have finally found a pen that fits my style or writing. I've been using a variety of gel-based pens (Energels, Zebra's Sarasa Line and bLen) over the past 1-2 years and always found that the ink would ever so often "cut off" when I was using it to write notes, whereas with the 0.8 mm version of this pen I haven't had any issues.
Although it’s great, these pens are made from post consumer recyclable materials, it’s disappointing to find out that apparently they are not refillable. 😢

This interesting, in most Asian country UNI doesn't sell the broad version of the vision eye, just the regular 0.5mm one what all have the same colour except the "eye" and the micro tip ones, which for which the end cap and cap match the ink colour, till this point I assumed that's what separated them, so you could see the difference instantly, if they do sell that colour body ones in different size what even is the difference

Have you ever heard of the Zebra Filare Direction Twist Felt Tip Pen? I just got one in today. It's an executive style, retractable felt-tip pen. Kind of interesting.

I got these from Amazon and they’re great. I hope they can come out with this in a mechanical version. I still float back and forth between a Uni Jetstream, a Signo 207 plus and a Schneider Slider Rave XB as my go to for regular writing. Yes both the Jetstream (unless you find a pack of the Jetstream sport in a CVS) and Schneider are kinda pricey but it’s very comfortable to write with. And the 207 plus glides effortlessly on the page. I think I might need to add the Floatune to my rotation.
Anybody know how much ink or how long can you write with a Floatune?

Hi. What refill would you recommend to someone who likes the Parker Jotter pen but not the way it writes? My favorite pen is pilot bps fine and i don't know how to make it work with Parker jotter. I tried some other Parker style fine refills, I didn’t like them either...

Of all the pens to challenge, they went after the almighty Vision Elite. I would fire whoever came up with this idea immediately.
