"Well Fuck It" sounds about right
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!
According to Bushido: a man with absolute intent can strike down their opponent even if their head is struck from his body.
Death before dishonor! comes to mind. The ones mentioned by other commenters are cruder versions of this, but still valid. In WWII, either the British or the Americans had been hunkered down in a town, holding off the Germans. They were in desperate need of relief, or of permission to retreat. The Germans offered them safety if they surrendered, but then they got a message that relief was on the way, but would take a while to get there. In the meantime, they were to hold the town at all cost. These troops didn't have enough ammo or other supplies left to hold on, but when the Germans gave them the chance to surrender, their commanding officer said one word to the Germans, "Nuts!" For the record, they did manage to hold on until they could be relieved. Their doing so kept a large number of German troops tied down, preventing them from advancing farther, thereby greatly helping our side in the war. This true event was even included in a war movie. Not sure which one, but it may have been "The Longest Day" or "The Battle Of The Bulge."
Bastogne, Belgium, .... American paras 101st airbourne. marched in knowing it would be surrounded with limited ammo and no winter clothes. Mission hold.
when asked to surrender the commanded replied NUTS. The town was held and no soilder that was in the town has ever claimed that they relieving.
movie battle of the bulge, and mini series Band of Brothers.
"Such is Life" An expression used when all options have been tried and there is no way out but to accept your fate. In war, to die and perhaps take your enemy with you. In this story I can see it being relevant.
Like the Star Trek reference and an interesting suggested insight into human determination when there's no other option.
I can name that song in two words. "Til Valhalla"
The button kronk.
"So be it."
