  • Fokker Dr1 - Manfred Von Richthofen (Red Baron - 1917)(4k). This footage of Manfred von Richthofen and his Fokker Dr1 was taken in September 1917 and footage was reproduced in 1934 for educational purposes. the original footage resolution is 480x360 at 10 fps and upscaled to 4K 60fps with color, but it seems to upscale it 6 times didn't give the result I was hoping for.

I love how the footage has been slowed from the original to show him moving at normal speed. This is amazing. Thank you for sharing ❤

film likely shot sept 3 1917 on occasion of MVRs 61st victory. Lt Algernon F Bird 46th sq. in his Sopwith pup #B1795 shot down @ 7:35 am. this is MVRs 1st victory in a triplane. The plane F1-102/17 was destroyed on the afternoon of the 15th (17:30hrs) when Oberlt Kurt Wolff was shot down and killed. The f1-102/17 was one of the prototypes of what would become the Fok Dr-1. F1/103/17 was destroyed on the 28th @ 19:35 hrs when Werner Voss was shot down and killed he crashed at Plum Farm.

☠BLACK BARON☠ For himself, it was never about the one man show ... it was about all the "AirComrades" around him he could always trust. Comrades make a teamwork. Comrades. At least in WWI we had still some manners, ethics and some moral behaviour in Air Combats ... compared to nowadays with no rules at all, no ethics at all, lots of lies and propaganda crap.

He was injured some months before. Hit by a bullet on the top of his scull. It’s a bandage as the wound was not healing well. I have read that Dr’s had been removing small fragment of skull bone. He suffered constant headaches and some think tunnel vision after he was wounded.

Yes, that is clearly a British uniform of the RFC (Royal Flying Corps) or (starting from 1918) the RAF (Royal Air Force). During WW 2, these wings on the uniforms looked similar, so you can easily recognize the British pilots in any movie (also in motion pictures made for cinema).

Poor quality, colours changing all the time and some frames out of focus. Hard to see how this was made in 1934 for educational purposes, more like propaganda. :-)

you should have seen the original it was super bad. they did make it in 1934 but still using 1917 footage, but I would have to agree it was probably used for propaganda during those years.
