  • Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas was the prototype Rocky Mountain Construction Raptor. This intense single rail roller coaster is arguably the best cloned ride in the world with its viscous airtime and relentless pacing.

Rode it several times this week with short lines. The harness actually left scars/bruisers on my shoulders (probably that S-hill), but it was still a blast. That corkscrew/zero-g roll (midway) was the best I've ever experienced, you just float upside down while rotating in a sustained, relaxed motion. Really cool.

Been on this once since moving to San Antonio at the end of 2019. I also rode Railblazer in 2018 and found it slightly smoother. The remodel of the trains in 2022 has made reduced capacity operation abysmal, so I have yet to ride it again as a local. Hopefully this summer it will be back to full capacity operation.

Your choice of words with "cartoonish" and "comical" are words that I've used as well to describe this coaster. I think they're well-appropriate! Both on- and off-ride, the pacing at which the trains charge through the course is unreal and even ridiculous-looking!
One of my favorite elements on this coaster is the zero-G roll. It really adds a unique flair to the pacing of the ride. After being hurtled from element to element, encountering extreme positive and negative g-forces, time suddenly stands still as you rotate weightlessly through the zero-G roll. It's an amazing moment!

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 года назад +2

11:33 Something has gone horribly wrong with this coaster over the past year. Been riding it at roughly 1 month intervals lately - progressively worse each time - and today (5/12/23) it was riding bumpier than some wood coasters, as weird as that sounds. They were down to 1 train with only 6 of the 8 seats working. It's bizarre, since Railblazer at CAGA is still butter smooth. Same ride, same age, but Cedar Fair apparently takes proper maintenance far more seriously than Six Flags.

RMC has done another amazing concept when they made this. This is truly a masterpiece. The pacing is unbelievable, it is more whippy than literally anything, and it has such a unique experience mixed in with the single rail track and single file seating. This Track RMC came up with is great, it's unique, it has tighter elements, and handle very fast transitions smoothly. Who cares if it's short, it packs a great punch for what it's got that you don't even care about the length. JD is going to be longer anyways and I can't wait to see more of these.

I agree with everything you said. I do prefer the back, but I liked the front almost as much. The leg position is awkward for me, since I always sit with my knees rotated slightly outward, never inward. Over Spring Break, the first week, the park would clear out around 4pm, and everything was a walk-on. On 2 nights, I rode Wonder Woman 4-5 times without getting off. My knees demanded that I stop. It's such a great ride, but my body can structurally only handle a few rides.

This is easily going to be my 2nd favorite rollercoaster when I go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Given the INTENSE AIRTIME on the drop and the extremly intense inversions it will very likely rank number 2. Iron Rattler will likely top the chart when I ride it given the elements of Extremely Intense Airtime, Intense Inversions and a top speed of 70 mph. Those are the elements I always look for and these two RMC’S Have all those elements in a very intense way. When I watch the video of Wonder Woman it even looks faster than it really is.

I think that Wonder Woman and RailBlazer may be the 2 best paced roller coasters I have been on. It does take a you a couple of times riding it to find the best and most comfortable way. Once I figured it out, I love these coasters. I have Iron Rattler a few spots ahead of it, but the 2 Raptors are just outside my Top 10 overall. The restraints did not fit me, leaving a large gap between the lower part of the restraints and my abdomen while being extremely tight on my chest. Wonder Woman really, truly needs to be ridden to be understood. The wacky profiling of the entry to the dive loop makes for some of the most counterintuitive forces I've ever experienced. The airtime on the S hill is notable, not only for how strong it is, but also because the transition into max negative Gs is basically instantaneous. The cutback and corkscrew are weirdly graceful inversions for how quickly the train tears through them, and I love them for that. The only real criticism I can levy at the layout is that I wish there were a couple more airtime moments as good as the S hill, a flaw that I expect Jersey Devil and other subsequent Raptor layouts to remedy.
And then there are the trains... I think the trains were designed around someone in the 5'10" to 6' tall range, and I can't image anyone taller or shorter fitting in without issue. I'm 6'2" myself; and, at least for me, being tall really helps to mitigate the awkwardness of the "straddling" seating position, as my legs don't have to be spread quite as wide as someone shorter. (Hopefully no one tries to ride while wearing a skirt or kilt!) However, closing the OTSR is a very awkward proposition for someone my height, as the horizontal portion of the vest won't clear my head when I sit upright. Tilting my head forward doesn't solve the problem. Instead I have to slump downward and tilt my head sideways, lower the restraint halfway, twist my head through the opening of the vest, sit upright, and then lower the restraint fully. Once I'm in, I fit just fine, but getting in is more challenging than it ought to be.

I really think the T-Rex was the concept they wanted to make. Mainly because of train design. I'm sure they noticed it's really awkward riding spread eagle. But it's so much more steel, like a B&M track times two. I liked the novelty of the single row and your ass being 6" off the track with your feet basically on it but a lot of the fun I get from rides is sitting next to my family. The drops are utter nuts though. I hoenstly though it was a bit too chaotic to truly be enjoyable. It's just one of those "woah, holy shit, that was nuts" kind of rides. Which have their place I guess. Just not my favorite. Still. The coaster gods were looking out for me that two day the way I ninja-ed my 2 rides in somehow between only like 1 hour of operating time in the entire day due to winds.

You call Wonder Woman a "very smooth coaster." I suppose you missed the rattling roughness that felt like the wheels were running over something every few inches? It is not smooth like a steel coaster should be, especially an RMC. It rattles relentlessly. I live in Ft. Worth and have been down to Fiesta Texas 3 times this year alone. I have ridden Wonder Woman perhaps 20-30 times just this year, trying really hard to like it. But the weird roughness bothers me, as do the painful shoulder straps. You said they weren't painful, but my shoulder bruises after 10 straight rides said otherwise. Now, "airtime." Airtime, as the label implies, means there is air between your butt and the seat. Because of the lap bar and ratcheting shoulder straps, there is no leaving your seat. Potential airtime, yes, but not actual airtime. I spoke with an operator who said there have been multiple falls & minor injuries due to the non-stop trains & loading/unloading. She also told me the boarding/un-boarding is often a nightmare, especially with three trains.

    • @CanobieCoaster

OP is wrong, this one was a prototype, which the ride ops here never fail to mention every single time the ride breaks down, which is practically every single operating day at the park.
It's a 5/10 when you consider it's just an OKAY B-tier coaster, definitely not S-tier, and ALL OF THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF DOWNTIME.
Overrated roller coaster, overrated model, and overrated park.
Iron Rattler is amazing... absolutely an "A" tier coaster, and the best roller coaster in Texas.
It's not S-tier only because coasters like Steel Vengeance, Iron Gwazi, Maverick, and Velocicoaster exist.
But RMC needs to stick to I-Box hybrids.
