    I just got another 3 laps on this yesterday, all in the back row, and it was absolutely hauling through the third lap. Not a single moment felt slow or drawn out.
    The airtime was unreal back there, with some major pops of ejector airtime on the first drop and the double down, as well as some great hang time on each of the inversions.
    I still think that this is still a top-tier RMC.

    Wicked Cylone is running absolutely insane this year! The speed and airtime normally that you would only get on a rainy day, is every day! The ops are doing great too, I saw a few times when they were waiting for a train to come back. Zipper pouches have been added too!

    Good review, although I have no other RMC to compare it to. In fairness, I’m a 75-year-old guy and a fan of older wooden coasters, and Wicked Cyclone was my first and only RMC coaster. While I appreciate both the technology and the design that RMC brings to its coasters, and while I understand why they are so popular, they are definitely not for everyone.
    For my taste, it was a bit too intense. I don’t consider a “grey-out”, for example, to be a desirable feature of any ride. Second, the layout was appropriately chaotic feeling, given the storm theme of the ride, but I prefer my ride “narratives” to be a bit more predicable. That allows me to prepare my mind and body for what’s to come-my older body is not like a 20-something one.
    Finally, and honestly most annoying, was the lack of handholds. I had to grip awkwardly around the waist constraints, and it was not comfortable or comforting. I’ll note in passing that in the seats behind me were a middle-aged mother and her teen daughter, both of whom were newbies to big roller coasters and they were both pretty stressed by the ride. None of us had fun on it.
    That said, I’m happy RMC exists for the history and future of coasters, but they attract a very thrill-seeking ridership, and you might recognize that for future reviews. Personally, I really hope that RMC begins to design more family-friendly coasters, the way that The Gravity Group has done.

      The original Riverside cyclone genuinely hurt a lot but I absolutely loved it. I rode it 13 consecutive times without getting off the ride in one of it's last seasons with the old steal lap bar style cars. The lap bars would beat up your thighs and if you kept your arms up for the whole ride you'd elbow your friend in the face. Great times.

  • @AaronFacciolini

    Let me just say this... I just got off the Cyclone 6 times yesterday and I haven't ridden it since it's opening year. It is WAYYY faster now. I mean the ejector was beyond wild. Literally the first outer bank turn and the "shilke special" and even the FINAL outerbank after the zero g roll and before the break run all provided some of the strongest ejector I've ever felt. In fact the first two were stronger than that of the infamous Rolling thunder hill on El toro (and I've ridden El toro in the back row 4 times this year and 40+ times previously).
    I'll preface this - Cyclone was the first ride of the day as soon as park opened. We got a front and back row ride. My girlfriend LOVED it. Was her new favorite coaster immediately. After a huge rainstorm (which actually almost never let up) we got back on the ride around 6pm. We got back row... It was hauling like nothing nothing I've ever felt before. In fact my girlfriend could only ride it twice in a row cause it was so painful on her thighs from the ejector - she got on a third time in the front row so it'd be a little less intense but she came off and was like no. I can't do it again, you'll have to go alone. She's like I prefer it when it's a little slower cause this is too much now. She's still complaining about how her thighs feel NOW. Lol. So I got my final ride alone in the backrow and that's even when I was like ok yeah I can't do it again - it's too intense lol. At that point it felt like Skyrush 😂

    I caught a ride before close the other day, and it was absolutely hauling ass on the last lap! Typically it meanders at the end when I ride too, but this past experience blew me away! Maybe it’s because it was the end of the day and we had a full train, but if you get lucky it’s a whole different beast with that speed at the end.

    I think this gets overlooked because it just a very RMC-ish RMC with no notable traits outside of that. Iron Rattler has the wall. Twisted Colossus has the dueling. Steel Vengeance has the size. This doesn't really have a THING associated with it but like you said it's still everything you expect from RMC and is one of my favorites.

    I love how you studied the animation “religiously”! Also, I’ve heard it’s been running a little faster in 2023, and as I went in June, I can confirm the third lap had some power to it(even on a very hot day)!

  • @MattMcIrvin
    @MattMcIrvin Год назад

    I rode this again last weekend. Still brilliant, and, no, I think it's just the right length. No issues with the third lap.
    This time, there was actually a breakdown while I was standing in line--an issue with a restraint in the front row of the orange train, which I think wouldn't latch. They fixed it in short order but then had to take a half-hour+ to test run and get authorized to reopen. But I patiently waited because it's Wicked Cyclone.
    One thing it likely doesn't have in common with the newer RMCs is that, since they didn't enlarge the lift (and in fact made it slightly shorter) the first drop is nothing special by modern RMC standards. It's good--certainly very steep and quick--but it's not the ride's great strength. It's everything after that. Since this was built, RMC's enlarged truss-structure lift hills have become a signature element of their coasters, but Wicked Cyclone doesn't have one.
    An improvement that wasn't there early on is that Wicked Cyclone now has its own dedicated bank of lockers. The old sign by the Blizzard River/Skyscreamer lockers saying they're only for Wicked Cyclone is still there, though it makes no sense now.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  Год назад

      Putting the lockers there make sense since that gift shop was usually closed or had no one buying anything.

    Stomping out the beat of We Will Rock You was a tradition with the original Cyclone The old trains would sort of clunk out that beat while one train was departing and the next was creeping up to the station. If it's unintentional then that is one incredibly lucky coincidence and if it was a planned element then it's a genius little nod to the heritage of the ride. Either way it's one of the things I love about the experience of Wicked Cyclone. It helps to bring up the warm fuzzy feelings I have for one of my favorite coasters since childhood.

    This ride is absolutely amazing! The layout and airtime really shine on Wicked Cyclone. My big issue with it is the stapling by the ride attendants. I haven’t actually counted but I have been aggressively stapled easily 9/10 times in the past two years. Getting stapled on this ride makes the experience super uncomfortable and has actually made it drop some slots in my overall ranking. Maybe I’ve just been really unlucky, but I haven’t had a great ride on this in quite a while :/

    • @CanobieCoaster

      Even when stapled, this ride has strong enough airtime to overcome it.
