I'm really like Trey Murphy on ESPN. His insights on mid-majors vs. major schools is interesting and makes sense. A lot of those classic colleges like Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, etc. will put you in a system. That used to help you in the NBA where teams ran like Triangle, pick and roll, different offenses, etc.
I still think the great NBA teams have more of a system (i.e. Warriors), but most teams are just playing five out and you need to be skilled. I don't doubt that I see what he's saying. It's not just athletic guys with size like mainstream college basketball. You have to be able to create offense with lesser players around you and play with virtually no system. That's how most lottery teams (and terms in general) are playing basketball. So it makes a lot of sense.

It’s annoying when people say the Mavs tanked to keep their pick. They lost all the important tiebreakers so they weren’t getting in either way with OKC winning the last few games. Are we going to act like the blazers didn’t tank? How the pacers didn’t tank? How most of the top 10 teams were playing g league players at the end of the season? Teams have tanked for years. Mavs “tanked” for 2 games. They would be the laughing stock if they missed the playoffs and lost their pick.

Nice win! KP and Tatum looked so sharp. This team can be so much better though, so much potential. Idk what Mazulla is thinking not going to a more physical bench against a big physical NY team that offensive rebounds well. Kornet just aint the guy for the 2nd unit, especially if Hauser and Pritchard are also out there. Why not go with Queta and Stevens to offset the lack of defense and physicality? And why does Mazulla have JB stand around at the 3pt line and not cut to the hoop to create issues w opposing defense? Have him move without the ball ffs and move the ball more in general. Way too many heavily contested shots and a lack or ball movement to breakdown the Knicks defense. Mazulla seems so intent on Iso & high picks 2man game while just having everyone else waiting around for 3s. Use JB like the Nuggets use Aaron Gordon on offense, use that athleticism. I just feel Mazulla is doing this team a discredit they way he wants the offense run and the lineup decisions. You dont beat physicality with soft slow players like Kornet and Hauser. Its only one game but ill be annoyed if they keep putting all the pressure on individual talent and thinking they dont have to play solid team basketball on offense w good ball movement and making good subs based the matchup they have on any given night

Scoot is a reason why this era is a RISKY BUSINESS when it comes to drafting. Same for Miller, but he is progressing well lately. But overall the “One-and-Done” era has been a nightmare for NBA franchises. In addition, there was no sensible balance to remove the draft lottery in favor of traditional draft models that offset the added risks.
I mean really, what are teams tanking for in 2024 other than more RISK and uncertainty.
