    I admire your ambition to tackle such a complex and technically demanding song! You haven't checked Muhammed Suicmez official tab book for the Epitaph album, I guess? There are quite a few bits that differ from what you are showing - including that arpeggio part where you do a position shift to start the arpeggio on the pinky where Muhammed is actually staying with the index finger on the 7th fret and hammering on to fret 10, continuing the arpeggio in that position - and the ascending triplet run is not picked all the way, it's legato (double hammer-on) on the A-string as well as the high E-string. Also, Muhammed doesn't use 7/4, he always splits it up into 3/4 and 4/4 (which makes more sense if you look at the structure of the riffs as well as listen to the accents in the drums).

  • @abstract200
    @abstract200 4 года назад +1

    Awesome! This is such a help when trying to transcribe this song, though a few innacuracies here and there., Maybe a few tips: playing with a metronome shows the rhythmic patterns more clearly. For instance the tapping lick at the start uses triplets (third string) 0-5-9-5-9-12, but when you play it slow it doesn't sound clear. This music is so super tight there's no room for sloppyness. Same with the first sweep (2:56), those are also triplets, but you play it sloppy and in the wrong position. The sweep is actually played without tapping like this: 5th string 7-10 4th 9 3th 9 2nd 8 1st 7 slide to 1st 8 hammer on to 12 etc. This makes it much easier to play especially at high tempos. Live footage confirms this, check it out.

    • @justin.hombach
      @justin.hombach  4 года назад

      Hey mate, the reason why this is "sloppy" is, when I demonstrate something slow I often play it rubato just for demonstration purpose. besides that I think that Time is alot easier to learn when It's in original tempo, nothing against playing it slow, but especially here I realised by many of my students whom I teached that song, that they get the timing better when trying to play it fast and especially listening to it fast. :)
      same goes for the sweep, yeah sami is playing it in the inversion you're saying it here. But I think it's easier for many people to play it with the different inversion. The notes stays the same and I think Christian would play it this way.
      I don't think there are live recordings of stabwound with christian, isn't? :)
      But thanks for the tipps mate. Always helpfull

    • @abstract200
      @abstract200 4 года назад +2

      @@justin.hombach I'm sorry my friend, but that doesn't make much sense. A song this technical and precise and you play rubato? Why not play the whole thing rubato then, while you're at it. Besides, when you play fast it's the same sloppyness, but cause of the speed maybe get's unnoticed. This means you TAUGHT your students wrong. Even the tab on songsterr is more accurate then yours. You're missing quite some stuff, like at 3:06 you end the lick wrong. You missed the octaves around 2:42 and so on. Thats not justified by calling it rubato. It's simply innacurate. If you cannot explain or let alone play it correctly at a slow tempo it means you don't really understand what's going on.

    6:56 Thats not a weird part at all. It's actually an arpeggio of the VI chord, which in the key of E minor would be C or in D minor Bb, followed by the V chord. This is maybe THE most common sound used in metal. And like I mentioned before, it's a sextuplet; 0-5-9-5-9-tap 12 pull off to 11 which lands on the first beat of the next measure.
