Back in 2000, my Death Metal band played a highschool Valentine's Day talent show/dance cause my other guitarist was a Senior in that high school (I was one year graduated at that point from the same school) and we opened up with "Stripped, Raped, and Strangled" (Which we always did). We got through most of the set before the school administration figured out the fake list of songs my guitarist gave them was fake and they tried cutting the school's PA - but they didn't realize we had our own PA system we brought for the show, then tried to accuse me of inciting a riot for the mosh pit that broke out. Ahh, memories.
@@lorenzofaglia9796 As an aspiring metal drummer, you GOTTA be relaxed. If you're straining, it better be to fall back into a relaxed rhythm or you'll be completely out of stamina in the next 10 seconds.
Ok goes without saying this is one of the best metal performances of the last 20 years, but can we please shout out to the recording engineer here... for a live show recorded on a potato in a middle school gym, every single part comes through amazingly well.

I have been on this gig in person. Never heard Necrophagist before. Now is my most favorite tech death band till these days. Fuckk Yeah. My friends from Typhoid (Mohamed´s t-shirt). Thanks them to bring this gods of Death metal to Slovakia ;-)
Chuck's shit almost always looked easy, until "that one change," that turns your pick hand into frigging jello. RIP my friend... You're still, "melting faces."
Necrophagist needed one more album to be hailed as a legendary band! Having only 2 then disappearing shortly after kept them in the underground compared to the likes of Cryptopsy or Decapitated.
Tucking your metal shirt into your tight jeans isn't really metal....Unless your Mohamad. Him and Chuck can do whatever. Jelly shoes, Moo Moo cowboy hat these guys are gods.
Then your memory is failing you. Go watch some live footage from the late 80s of any Extreme Metal band. I mean, come on, the "Official Metal clothing" for the entire 80s consisted of white sneakers, tight jeans, TUCKED IN sleeveless/T-shirt and optionally a "battlejacket" (denimjacket with tons of band patches on it). The whole "BIG T-shirt outside of pants, and too big clothes in general" trend was something that came along with Grunge in the early 90s... I don't really care how ppl look on stage, but since you were the one who commented on it first, did you forget to take a look at the 2nd guitarist in this video? Dreads and rapper cloths? Early 00s clothing sucked in general, but Muhammed looks a lot more "Metal" here in this vid than the other guitarist.' Also, Emperor came way after the timeperiod we are discussing here, so not relevant...
Tim Gonzales this song is easy compared to other death songs but yes necrophagist is more technical than Death, but Death is piooner of the technical death metal.
i guess that stops once scavenger sneaks into the setlist. also, don't underestimate the skill to play death. Necro sure is more notes per second but is it really that much easier to play right? Necro is right on the grid all of the time whereas Death has bits that just take a master to play right in a live environment. For example the offgrid speeding up of the doublebass in some parts of flattening of emotions. It's not really that noticeable but since it's so free form it's a hell to play right. I have yet to see a drummer that does it really justice live. Not even Gene or the Obscura/ex Necro guy could do it. Christy did it and of course Reinert. Same goes for Scavenger and other songs. I would conclude by saying that it is probably easier to play most Death songs vs Necro songs on a superficial level but in a live setting I would be equally terrified if I wanted to play either of them right and groovy
@@hazardeur Death's whole discography is insane. And necro is more clinical and death organic. At least to me. Basically i agree death had more "soul" for lack of a better word
