I mean, we can't say that it was unexpected for Spain to dominate. They reached the semis of the Euros in 2020, lost very tightly in the World Cup and then won UEFA Nations League.

sure. but for me perhaps, it was group B. Defending Champions Italy, Defending Nations League Winner Spain, and World Cup Semifinalists Croatia was a much scarier group compared to an unpredictable Netherlands under Ronald Koeman and an untested Austria.

Prior to the tournament. Spain group was referred to as the Group of death.

@tritone11, I disagree. It was death in group B for two of the teams. The Austria group was three teams that classified. So not really lethal is it?
