In 2001, during my stay in Paris, I encountered an individual who claimed involvement in a killing incident at a university in Nigeria. He mentioned that his parents had relocated him to France following his release on bail in Nigeria just to avoid going to prison . Subsequently, he was involved in drugs pushing , his actions in Paris led to his arrest and imprisonment. It's a stark reminder that actions have consequences, and justice eventually catches up with those who engage in wrongdoing.

I was a 100level student of OAU preparing for Botany 101 test that supposed to take place on the day when the deadly incident took place. I was at Awo Hall cafeteria extension reading room, and had to jump down from there and ran towards Angola hall to escape. I had a little injury due to the jump, but thank God I am alive to tell the story. Everything Legacy said is truth. Prof. Wale Omole was a beast and I pray nemesis catches up with him for killing innocent students.

Lanre (Lagacy), thanks for your courage in coming out with all these facts and figures. I was at OAU during this horrible event on campus. In fact, I still have the scars and pain in my heart till today. I was one of the set of people that first arrived at the health centre that faithful morning. It was the gun shot that woke us up in the room while sleeping then in Faj Annex. You know what, whether now or later any evil that man did will definitely catch up with him one day. All I know is that just one day, things will change in Nigeria and we will have an impartial rule of law that will bring to justice all these so-called most powerful and influential. No one plants a Mango and reaped Apple fruits. God bless you.

The likes of Legacy and Barr. Akin Iwilade(younger brother to Africa) should be entrusted with serious roles of rebuilding Nigeria in either an elective capacity or by appointment. Barr. Akin Iwilade has held on tightly to the values his elder brother died for which are equity, fairness and justice for all. Lanre Legacy, the sacrifices you and all the departed comrades made are still speaking not on OAU campus, but in every tertiary institution of learning across Nigeria. The fear of OAU SUG used to be the beginning of wisdom when we were on campus. May the good Lord continue to repose the souls of those who laid down their lives for our own freedom.

It was the formal President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasnjo given backup to VC Wale Omole. As he has foreseen another activists coming up that will be challenging the evil government.
It is high time people will know that the head of institutions in Nigeria: VC, Rectors and provost are the tools government of Nigeria used to terminate the life of young vibrant and brilliant individual that may be an obstacle to them in the future.
The last election 2023 explained it all, in which university Vice chancellors were used to conduct the general elections. The election was manipulated, rigged and disappointed to Nigerians on a stolen mandate.
Killing has been the normal way for Nigerian leaders. They are all always active in prosecuting innocent people clamouring for truth.
May the souls of galant comrades rest in peace. Rest on Africa, we salute 🫡 you.

Currently at the orientation 2024, a representative of Omole was invited for the programme and everybody acted normal, not until the current SU stepped in, they had him sent out.
    Justice should prevail!

Thanks for detailing this sad episode in the history of OAU. I was just getting ready for first year in Uni when this happened. Shook my faith in going to Uni.. never knew the whole story but definitely remember Efosa being caught and the death of Afrika, a good man with so much potentials. Sad to know now that the VC spearheaded it.. and got away with it. Such an atrocity..

The challenges facing Nigeria are so immense that achieving positive change in all areas is extremely challenging. When persistent crimes occur in a particular area for an extended period, it is often linked to high-ranking officials within the system, either directly or indirectly. It is disheartening that the lives lost cannot be brought back, and the issues they fought for persist, while those responsible for their deaths receive special treatment and are often released without consequence as if nothing had occurred. We find ourselves in a nation where the majority of institutions that form the system are heavily influenced by individuals with malevolent intentions. Nigeria can be likened to a crime-ridden environment. RIP to Afrika and all the Hero’s who stood for the student

Not long after this incident in ogba, a suburb of Ikeja in Lagos.
There was a vacant plot next to my father's house, suddenly there was construction activity taking place. Within 6 months a duplex and two flats were constructed. We were all wondering who had so much money to put a building of this magnitude so fast. To the best of my knowledge the owner never came around when the construction was on going. But when it was finished he moved.
The owner was Professor Omole! Of course he had all heard about what happened in Ife so we were kind of shocked that he had become our neighbor!

Lanre Legend and Afrika did their jobs as the executives of SUG far better than the VC that ran the school. They were forces to be reckoned with, that is why they were targeted to me this unfortunately seems like an assassination attack. What have schools turned into ?????? these are places that are supposed to provide a haven of learning but instead are ransacked with diabolism, violence, and injustice. I just feel so sorry for the parents of the victims who lost their lives, they sent their children to school hoping they would be better people, but their children ended up coming home in body bags and no just till today. RIP Afrika and everyone who lost their lives may we continue to live lives of integrity and not compromise our values and beliefs for power.
