As a German who doesn't like the idea of a speed limit on our Autobahn, I would appreciate a general 220 km/h speed limit, seeing this video. You can be sure this will end in disaster one day. It's just a question of time. Not because of him but because of someone else misjudging his speed... According my experience of more than 25 years of driving the German autobahn... There are a lot!!! who are absolutely unable to judge the speed of other cars and have tremendous problems driving a car savely.... And even he is allowed to drive that fast ... He will have a fault of any accident that could happen. Most probably he will not care anymore a lot about this after any crash at this speed
Min 12:00 .... You could have stayed on the gas, whether you hit the back of a car at 280km/h or 320km/h doesn't make any difference. Very experienced driver at 1°C (Min 2:25) and slightly damp road (Min 410). What should go wrong? Thank god... you increased the pressure in the summer tires (Min 3:20). In the German road traffic regulations, this is known as a driving style adapted to the weather conditions. But you are all experienced drivers... And as always, the NL on the license plate stands for Never Learned
Really love that car, we have it in white. Two things id suggest to you: firstly, after the last service it got a softlimiter while it didnt have one before, and also the exhaust valves dont stay open anymore like they used to. So in case yours has the newer software which it most likely does, it recommend you get that coded differently aswell. Also, the rear M Sport spoilerlip would suit it.
The sunroof does not make that sound on the m760. I had it up to 172 mph once and it was very quiet. However, there is a rubber gasket that is on the driver and passenger, outlining the edges of the roof which lifted up. Had the dealer replace it under warranty a couple of times but it seems at sustained high speeds it lifts. I put invisible tape on it and it’s been fine since.
Depends where you're based, and the power level you want. PPK will get you 340hp, a custom stage 1 tune on a healthy engine will be closer to 370hp/520nm. Proper stage 2 is looking at exhaust/intercooler and usually sits at around the 400hp mark for the N55B30M0 - Note that your engine is functionally identical to an F3x 3/435i but not the M2, although for enhanced sound the airbox from an M2 will fit the stock filter on your X5. Edit: Mosselman Turbo Systems (mentioned in this video, and are pricey but fantastic) offer the following: Stage 1: 375hp/540nm for €869 (seems quite optimistic) Stage 2: 400hp/560nm with no price listed Separate companies offer hybrid turbos for stage 3, I'd personally opt for the TTE460 (yours will be with an electronic actuator as opposed to a pneumatic one) if you weren't looking for crazy power but would be after some serious performance, as the name suggests you can get around 460hp and anywhere from 600-650nm. Upgrading your turbo tends to be €1,500-€2,000 or whatever the equivalent of that would be in GBP/USD. Obviously to get the most power you'll still need the exhaust and other supporting modifications. It's also definitely worth noting that any tuning to an auto BMW should probably be done with an xHP TCU tune on top, since the gearbox will be able to behave more aggressively in S-mode (shorter shifts, different shiftpoints) and will be able to handle higher torque loads where software limits would otherwise be imposed. Your gearbox is officially rated to 450nm, but can handle more with proper service intervals and some mechanical sympathy. For stupidly high torque applications you'd likely be looking at replacing it with the 8HP70/75 from the 35d which has been proven to hold 800+nm very well, including by me :) Source: Not a tuning company, just a BMW nerd

You just gotta love BMW. They even let you put a final touch to their car, that masking tape trick to alleviate the noise caused by the sunroof. Never seen that one before.
When i did 320kmh runs in my E30 the best way was to have the sun roof tilted 50% in the rear, or else the pressure in the cabin was so great the top of the door frames started to bend outwards 😅
How does Alpina solve the issue with the sunroof on the B7, which is based on the G11? That model officially reaches 330 kph and that noise would be insufficient. Any chance of adjustment of the sunroof in closed position?

For brakes, you just need better pads, brake lines and brake fluid. Put some Endless ma45b endurance pads, steel lines and Endless racing brake fluid. With this setup you can even do Nurburgring laps with this boat. 😂
That even without being that purpose is useful information to the consumer. Basically it is not recommended to buy it with a sunroof if you try speeds beyond the limiter.
probably... if there is a Y on the tire it is rated to 300 km/h... i think there are some special performance tires with ZR(Y) rating but only some manufatuer sell them and arent cheap either

Going over 200kmh while passing two cars this close together is dangerous. I once was going about 200kmh and one guy suddenly changed the lane for overtaking and he almost made me crash into the back of his car.

the MPH gps speed a bit too slow? 320kmh should give you 199mph with SI conversion amazing indeed for a luxury limousine with limiter gone can easily cracking 200mph, madness give it M carbon ceramic brakes from M5 comp and good (Y) rated tires, + remap to around 600hp from 520hp, should crack 205mph/330kmh easy with that rate of acceleration, possibly 210mph/340kmh with the braking stability and reliability to match
Did this once with a BMW760 (former modell F01). Also reached about 310 km/h on free German Highway; but that speed is not really fun; pure stress. 250 is a nice maximum speed at empty highways.

@@lou007 I think the 750i just sits at an awkward level of performance, where the engine is powerful enough to take it to speeds where stopping power is important, but you don't get the upgraded brakes unless it's an m60i. The 6 cylinder models won't go fast enough for this to be an issue.
Had the pleasure to drive this beast while my C55 AMG was reviewed. Unbelievably and effortlessly quick for such a large and heavy car! This while remaining in complete comfort. Quicker than any supercar just 10 years ago. Also 530hp? More like 600hp BMW :D
BMWs stock brakes are notoriously bad. Everybody hates them. This has been going on for years. It's not like the calipers and discs are bad. They just feel underboosted somehow. Like the brake servo isn't even trying. I think it started around the introduction of the F-series. Before that it was way better.
Great video - as usual from Autotopnl! :) About the comment with gaps between the 2 phones - I would think the one in km/h is more accurate - taking into account that until 263 (when the dashboard speedo hits the ‘limit’) the km/h phone app and the dashboard speedo are more or less in sync. I would be curious what tires were used in the test; I assume a winter model taking into account the external temperatures but for G11 LCI I am not sure any brand provides a RunFlat winter model guaranteed for speeds higher than 240. Most probably the Alpina route is the winner here - give-up RunFlats and easily install non-RunFlat winter tires for 300+ (with a slight suspension adjustment).

Great video. There is however no risk management in breaking down from 320 to 280 for oncoming traffic.

The G11 is like a modern E38 to me. Never owned anything above a 320d F30 but I love BMW.
