- Stealing work from a force of nature might not be a great idea but using this process to make some artistic leaves is one of the more enjoyable things I've done all year. I highly recommend trying it!

These are incredible! And sorry if you're sick of hearing this, but Mrs. Brown was 100% right here. The effect she got of it looking like a photorealistic leaf carved out of a chunk of something is easily a Top Five coolest thing I've seen this year.
Haha! She agrees with you! I'm super glad you liked it.
It's such a fun process.
They can be the older slightly more knowledgeable Evan and Katelyn
@@peterbrownwastaken It's one of those really cool processes where it's relatively easy for anybody to do, but creates results which look like they took hundreds of hours and impossible skill. Thank you for sharing it!
Mrs Brown rocked it!
@@veery22 There should be a colab..... Couple session, I can see them getting along now! XD Peter and Even have that "It's gonna get a little crazy and I'm gonna be the reason!" While Mis Brown and Katelyn just shake their heads trying not to laugh. Colab Please!
I love it when Mrs. Brown makes a special guest star appearance, the banter between the two of you always ups the entertainment.
and she has talents of her own double threat, her paint job was the best imo!
And her cinematography is so dynamic, i was dying of laughter
I’ve been watching his clips off and on for two years now and I didn’t know there was a Mrs. Brown 😂
Same here. Shop time: special edition.
The maple leaf one looks like it would benefit with a led light under the base to illuminate it slightly that would look awesome on a shelf with a maple base to sit it on
A walnut base
@@paul_warner alternately, a maple base
@@otto8444 lol
Yes please!
If you have any extra silicon from a mold you aren't using anymore, you can just stick that into the new mold when you didn't mix enough. It will fill the space and you won't be able to tell the difference once everything hardens.
as long as its the same silicone though, I did that to fill a tin cure silicone using chunks from a platinum cure silicone and it resulted in the areas around the chunks not polymerizing :(
Would be a great way to cut down on waste too, as much as I love these kinds of videos, does worry me how much plastic waste is created (more so by other creators than these)
_DUNKIN CHUNKIES_
for real though, just like he filled some of the box with clay, i would've also chucked in some rocks or something (in the corners, away from the model) instead of mixing another batch.
"If you walk around a forest, all the leaves don't look the same"
Pure poetry.
haha.. I'm just saying.
Obviously you are not a topologist.
@@sdspivey most leaves are topologically different due to bugs and small animals eating holes in them :p
@@etothepie2704 Most pairs of leaves you find maybe, but the pigeonhole principle says that, given there are likely several orders of magnitude more leaves than holes in any given leaf, there are very many leaves with the exact same number of holes. Even if you're dealing with thousands of tiny holes in a leaf, there are trillions of trees, each with something like hundreds of thousands of leaves.
@@PeterBarnes2 Indeed. But that means we have some millions topologically unique leaves, one for every possible hole configuration.
Yes, many leaves are topologically identical, but that doesn't mean all leaves are. Most leaves will still be different from one another.
Hey Peter,
A tip I just picked up after far too long; you can use your air compressor to send air between the mold and the project. May help you release molds in the future.
The funny thing is he has done that before 🤣🤣 must have forgotten!
Dude you should do more couple projects listen to you both help then dis each other is amazing and btw hers looks amazing
... That’s why he doesn’t do more couples projects.
"I don't think we can use ANY of this footage." Dear reader: They did. And it was glorious!
Both leaves from Mrs Browns mold is awesome and I agree with her that the white one looks like an old garden ornament in marble that's been outside. And Love the yellow colour in the second one.
I loved this! Mrs. Brown's was my favorite. Looks exactly like a fall leaf. I also liked Mr. Brown's leaf. It has a Jurassic feel to me. More of the Adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Brown please.
Mrs. brown’s leaf would look good as a candle holder for like a tea light candle and Peter yours looks a lot like a soap bar holder though I’m sure yours would look cool with a tea light candle on it
I love Mrs. Browns little "no" when you were pouring the silicone and her leaf was too "dynamic"
Yay, Mrs. Brown! Always a delight to hear from her on the channel
And her camera skills are second to none! 🤣 I absolutely love these two lovely people on RUclips. More Mr & Mrs Brown videos, I say 👏
I enjoyed watching the two of you do this together.
I really enjoy the Mr & Mrs Brown content, you guys have such a dynamic chemistry and the way you bounce ideas and opinions off of each other is refreshing. Good work y’all it seemed like you had a lot of fun together.
Thanks! Having an editor is nice so I can cut all the parts where we rage at each other.
I'm using that footage to defend my position with our marriage counselor. :)
@@peterbrownwastaken OMG! I love your content and have been a follower for quite some time now. Your videos actually pushed me over the fence about trying to cast resin myself since I was hesitant. I have a kit to start out with but just wanted to say thank YOU!
its nice just watching you guys get stuck into a more arts and crafty project, seeing something made thats less uniform and more natural in shape is really refreshing, i look forward to more weirdly wonderful creations :)
I really love that your wife has been in your videos. I’m not sure if she’s always been behind the scenes but it’s really nice to see you both doing videos together. You both seem to be having fun doing it together. More Mrs Brown!!
I love when you and Mrs. Brown do projects together or when she's just there supporting you! It's so wholesome ❤️
"We might have gotten a tad bit carried away with making these-"
*Looks up at Screen* "OH DEAR-"
We might need an intervention.
"We" proceeds to show a boatload of Peters leaf.
@@peterbrownwastaken Yuh THINK!!!
What could possibly be your fist clue...
Oh, I don't know, maybe the CRAP-TON of castings on the bench...
You just couldn't Leaf it alone, could you...perhaps you could Branch out a little and do some resin Pine Cones next time for something in a different Vein...
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
@@peterbrownwastaken no you just need total boat to constantly sponsor You by sending more resin. This is not a problem. ;) this requires enabling
I love when Mrs. Brown comes to visit the shop! And this is such a cute and fun activity! I love it!
Always a delight to see a vidio from this channel. And Mrs Brown makes another appearance? Yes please! I loved the way her leaf came out, it looked very realistic. I was really impressed. Peter's leaf was great too, he definitely got the look he was hoping for.
I would love to see more of the both of you doing projects together on the channel. I love your relationship, it's so nice to hear how much you two seem to enjoy just being around each other.
I really do enjoy when Mrs. Brown is in the shop with you creating something as a team. Her voice is delightful to listen to, as is yours Peter! Plus, she has a wonderful eye for the artsy side of things, not just the creative side... call it "that woman's touch" if you will😉. I love her maple leaf 🍁
When Mr and Mrs Brown interact in a video it is always adorable
What a weird and wonderful project. It is so completely obvious that you and Mrs. Brown compliment each other so perfectly.
It's always cool to see you and ms Brown doing projects together
I love when Mrs Brown joins. She's so genuine
1) Watching the silicon mold being poured is like visual asmr 💫
2) It's so lovely watching you two do projects together.
3) Beautiful process art!
Wow these are gorgeous! What a wonderful project, I love how clear and intent Mrs Brown's painting was, she really made something lovely. I agree the white one really looks like marble, would be cool to try 'marble effect' resin sometime? Using thin swirls of pigments or something.
I love your whole channel but I especially love it when you guys do projects together!!!
Now I need a maple leaf bowl to keep maple candies 😁
Your walnut leaf with the base would be an awesome soap holder and Mrs.Brown's would be a cool candy dish or key bowl. I think this may be the first project that I have seen that has pushed me toward wanting to try making ... Anything.
Amazing to hear Mrs Brown in a video. She is amazing. What an amazing idea for kids art project.
This is the most wholesome channel and video ever. Just a man and his wife resin crafting. I’m here for it!
another incredible project. Mrs Browns leaf base looks like a heart from the bottom. If I remember correctly we made leaf molds back in high school art class using cut down #10 cans about an inch deep and filled with plaster that we gently pressed the leaves into and then poured ceramic slip in to the molds and eventually fired them.. and yes that was nearly 50 yrs ago
Mrs. Brown's leaf is not a maple. It appears to be a type of sycamore which here, in the East, we call a Plane Tree. Pretty cool results.
Came to the comments knowing someone had to have already made the correction.
It could be. We have a lot of sycamore trees around here.
I really like how Mrs. Brown's base is/was heart shaped and how the colours turned out, super pretty. The banter commentary you two have going is great, it's fun listening to you two. And of course, I like yours too Mr. Brown ^_^
Mrs. Brown's leaf really does look realistic with a great mixture of colors throughout. Wonderful work!
I love it when mrs brown gets involved! It’s so cute when you do jobs together
I agree with Mrs. Brown, the white casting really looked like fantastically carved marble.
The colors of the paint on them is unbelievable, I love how realistic both of them look in the detail! Beautiful!
I don't know why, but apparently I really needed a laugh today. Amazing project, of course, but this will be a new favorite of mine just because you and Mrs. Brown are so funny and sweet. Both of you have contagious laughs!
Think we're gunna need to see some more autumnal casts! These are awesome.
These are so beautiful! My favorite season is fall and I love all the different wonderful colors the leaves make. Myself and my husband always collect fall leaves and make things with them. We are definitely going to try this! Thank you for such a great idea!
I really like it when you two do projects together, you are just so adorkable together!
We need Mrs. Brown in more videos. You two compliment each other well and she brings some good laughs with.
Where there's silicone, there's Robert Talone'S community! Could have used other materials to bring up the mold or cut down old rubber to fill useless space in the mold and save precious silicone :)
I think mold breaking should indeed have more "ha ha ha-ing". You should bring Mrs. Brown into the shop for all mold breaking!
This was lovely! I really enjoyed you guys just being together to make something. And all the silly banter was very sweet. I want this life someday. Thanks for sharing, Peter. ❤️
These came out FABULOUS!! I like that you worked on this together. The realistic way that Mrs. Brown's look are just stunning!
Best comment section! These lovely Browns have really created a nice world and all the visitors are so positive and encouraging ❤️
I Love how detailed they are even after the structure being transfered 3 times (leaf > Plaster > silicone > resin)!
Yet another voice chiming in to say that it's always a delight to see Mrs Brown show up in your videos, you guys have great chemistry and just a real "these two would be a ton of fun to hang out and have a couple of drinks with" vibe. Looking forward to more!
The best part of this video was the Mr. and Mrs. Brown team!
Hey Peter, there’s a guy on RUclips by the name of Robert Tolone. Dude know a crazy amount of stuff about mold-building and resin casting. Might give you some ideas or inspiration.
I immediately thought of Robert when he was making straight mold cuts, great suggestion.
Thanks, I'll check him out!
One big tip regarding the silicone molds from that guy is that you can save the cut up bits to use as filler in later molds so you don't have to use as much next time. Similar to the clay idea here, but it's the same material so you don't have to worry about peeling it away.
Always a fun time when the Browns are in the shop. This was a very cool process. Nice to see how it all came together. Thanks for sharing!
Woot. RUclips sent me notification within the first minute of posting. Woot
Honestly rare these days! I usually get notifications 20 hours later
Looks like a fun project. My mother makes birdbaths doing something similar with rhubarb leaves and concrete.
Ooh that sounds cool. Ask your mother to upload a RUclips tutorial 👍👌
@@Psammead21 She is 75 years old, and doesn't do much youtube. I'll ask if she takes any step by step photos.
@@Rutce125 Age is nothing but a number. She could become an Internet sensation!
I've actually searched since reading your message earlier on and found a few videos on it. One presentation suggests using mortar instead of concrete for a smoother finish but, whichever medium, it looks like a nice project with a positive, useful result. I might well give it a go 👍
Absolutely love this project, a lamp shade made of leaves like this would look incredible
Awesome, as usual. Much as I'd hate to drill a hole in it, I gotta say Mrs Brown's big autumnal leaf is just crying out to be turned into a holder for a scented Fall candle.
Really great color blending Mrs. Brown.
You did ok too Mr. Brown. Love them.
Absolutely gorgeous. I think these leaves are now my favorite thing you've done.
You both did an amazing job with the paint, and it really made the leaves look amazing. I love it
Both of them are awesome in different ways! I really like the iridescence on yours; when it catches the light just right, it looks almost like a jewel beetle. And Mrs. Brown's is incredibly realistic, which pairs strikingly from the fact that it has a base.
I love when your wife joins you on these adventures, you both clearly inspire each other. Those leaves are amazing, I have to admit i thought you were going to do a clear epoxy coat at some point but I really enjoyed the way these turned out for you.
Always a good time when Mrs Brown joins in!
They look great and you two are so good on projects together.
I love these! It was really fun to see you and Mrs. Brown working together on a project, and your individual talents and tastes shine through.
I love when you and Mrs. Brown create!
These look insane! The paint jobs make them look so real!
It's always extremely satisfying watching your videos Peter. Every time I see one in my subscriptions tab I get excited.
i love seeing more of the family involved in projects!! its so fun to see
Another way to make a leaf mold would have been pressing the leaves into clay to get an impression of the shape/veins
Fantastic, I love it when Mrs Brown joins you.
Okay, both are soooo good each in their own way! Also, it's very cute that you did a video with your wife! What a great way to involve her in your hobby in a way that you can both enjoy!
Hi Peter! I've got a dumb tip for you!
If your mold is too long for your pressure pot, just put the pot on its side! You can support it with 2x4's to keep it from rolling away.
I love how the channel has changed to not just us being entertained but also you and your wife too the videos are alot more uniquenow
I love the green shining through in the Walnut leaf, at first it looked like some kind of metallic paint but it being just light coming through makes it much cooler looking imo!
I used polymer clay (Just plain white Sculpey) to make impressions of leaves. Took the leaf out then baked the clay. Soon I will make silicone molds of leaves. I figured out (thanks to a RUclips video) the best way is to put the part I don't want to mold down in clay and roll it just like I did to make the clay impressions. But instead of taking the leaf out of the clay leave it in... (ha ha.. leave it... ) then pour the silicone on top to make my mold of the leaf. I am going to use them in an upcoming project to make leaves look more real so I just need a thin mold with a great impression. - Heidi
I love when Mrs. Brown joins Shop Time!
This IS delightful!!!! We need more Mrs. Brown cameos!!!
I'm thinking back to the time you cast resin shavings in resin... What if you tried to make a ghost or something? Make a shape out of clear resin, paint over part of it with acrylic paint (making sure to leave some gaps), and then use the same clear resin to suspend it in a display block.
Basically, try to make it so you can only see the layer of paint suspended in resin.
wow mrs. brown can paint! both of you can, im really impressed with how they came out
Mrs Brown is insanely talented! That maple leaf looks frickin' amazing!! The walnut leaf definitely looks like something from the Amazon.
This looks like you had so much fun together. It was great listening to the interaction between you both.
Mrs. Brown's voice is very pleasant. You're a lucky man. 👍
Those came out so beautifully 😍 Loved having Mrs. Brown!
Wow, those seriously turned out so incredibly awesome!!
This was lovely to see and hear. Hope you two had a lot of fun with this project
It went from kids gogurt color to a nice lavender. Loved the blue and pink yogurt tho
I love the dynamics with both of you together! Great results too!!!
They look excellent! I love it when Mrs. Brown is in videos.
Peter your leaf looks like one of those spearmint gummy candies before you painted! It's also nice having Mrs. Brown in the shop!
And now you're a hand channel! Excellent work both of you on a really cool project.
These are gorgeous, and I really love how much you both enjoyed the process.
Loved spending a video with Mrs Brown 🤎
LOVE a Mr. & Mrs. Brown episode!!! ♡
These are so fun & pretty!
I think I've mentioned this before, but you can degas your resin in the vac chamber before pouring it to reduce the number of bubbles, which probably would have helped with your walnut leaf.
Also, you could had added fibrous reinforcement to your plaster casts by sticking some fabric in there or something to make them much stronger if you want something durable.
I love having Mrs. Brown in the videos, especially as an active participant! I'm still drumming up support for another upcycle challenge between the two of you. Granted, that just involves me thinking 'Oh, I really enjoyed that video... I wish they'd do another like that.' but still.
is it really a Mrs Brown appearance if there is no fire involved?
I always enjoy the crazy and silliness of your videos but, I really loved that Mrs Brown got involved in this one... I think she should participate in more!
they look great. lovely to see a team production.
