He seemed like a very humble man, thanks for sharing. I watched the Dukes of Hazzard here in Australia, I believe about 41 years ago now. Where has the time gone?
I'm watching the entire Dukes of Hazzard series now. Denver Pyle was great, loved all his roles. Especially in the Movie Maverick, when he was forced to jump off the steamboat after being caught cheating. I'm very saddened to hear theres no marker, a simple name and date at least. But it's also entirely possible it was by his request. Thanks for this video!
You could be right about it being at his request or his family's. He seemed to love his fans though. I do hope he has one at some point. Thanks for watching Charles!
@@RhettyforHistory I certainly hope one is placed! I do genealogy and have found and marked several family and military grave sites. I firmly believe our past deserves a future. Denver Pyle is such an endearing character and deserves to be remembered. Thanks again for the video!
He was in EVERYTHING. He played a derelict Confederate soldier along with Strother Martin (RIP) in The Horse Soldiers with John Wayne (RIP). He was often on Gunsmoke and Rawhide TV shows and the Laramie series. He played both good guys and bad guys in many, many westerns. He played a terrible villain in an Audie Murphy film I can't remember the title. Audie is named sheriff, but Denver's character felt he should have gotten the job. Such a good actor, I'll never forget him. Very sad he has no marker. Possibly there will be one later.
You're right in him being in a lot! I know I haven't seen him in everything he's been in. Couple there you mentioned I have not seen. I do hope he gets a marker some day. Thanks for watching!
Yes he did! You can really see the character Uncle Jesse develop out of the character Briscoe Darling that he played on The Andy Griffith Show. Thanks for watching!
Hey Rhetty, We used to watch the Dukes of Hazzard with my grandmother, mother, and brother back in the day. lol I didn't even know he died on Christmas day. That's so sad. And no marker on his grave. Hollywood needs to fix that. Or somebody should. Thanks for the info and video.
I'm not sure if it was family wishes or his personal wish not to have a marker or what. I would love to see him have one though. He spent his whole adult life entertaining people and now it just sort of feels like he's been forgotten. But at least his work lives on. Thanks for watching.
Great actor. I remember him from the dukes of hazzard and the Andy Griffith show. and also from The Horse Soliders and The Man who shot Liberty Valance and The Alamo all starring John Wayne. And playing Frank Hamer in Bonnie and Clyde. Very interesting video.
It's amazing how many famous people were in the Andy Griffith show. It really seemed to catapult people's careers. My youngest daughter is a big fan of that show. I definitely remember him in the movies you mentioned too. Thanks for watching!
You're right about that. I know quite a few people had changed in that one but he didn't look good. I seem to remember he didn't speak too much. Thanks for watching!
RhettyforFun. Denver Pyle also portrayed Ben Thompson and other roles on the Wyatt Earp series from the 1950s with Hugh O’Brian as Wyatt Earp and Morgan Woodward as Mr.Gibbs which was Earps trusted Deputy. Douglass Fowley portrayed Doc Holiday among other roles within the series. Thanks for all of your great videos.
RhettyforFun; Denver Pyle also played different characters on “The Rifleman” TV series. I think that Denver Pyle could play any type of role whether it be good guy or bad guy very convincingly. Me Pyle was gifted in being able to make you either love him or hate him in his many roles. Many of the personalities that are in today’s show business realm should be more like Denver Pyle. Recently, I witnessed a Rolling Thunder tribute to a family member who was KIA/MIA over N Korea in 1951. I was amazed at how many of my past generation family members were interred within this cemetery and my knowledge of where where they were all located., Through your videos, I have a much deeper appreciation of those family members and families who have passed on and their memories. I was disappointed that our local cemetery doesn’t maintain the flat markers better within the Veterans section of the cemetery like they do with the upright tombstones. You would probably enjoy some of the very old cemeteries we have here in Kentucky. Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky has some very famous people interred within it’s very beautiful grounds. The Henry Clay tomb is very tall with the statue of Senator Clay being on top of the stone column. Lexington Cemetery has to install lightning rods on top of the statue due to lightning strikes damaging the statue in past years. One lightning strike severed the head from the statue in which repairs to the statue had to be made to re-attach Mr Clays head. Thanks For All Of Your Great Videos.
Yes, you are right he was in a slew of shows. He also played the grandfather or uncle on the Doris Day TV show and it is sad that he does not have a marker.
I remember him in the Alamo, the man who shot Liberty Valence, and Cahill U.S. Marshall, if I remember right he was also in the train Robbers. Denver could both play Outlaw or good guy. Great actor all around in whatever he did.
I remember him in the Alamo but I don't believe I'm familiar with The Train Robbers. I'll have to see if I can find that one and watch it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Man that show had My Favorite Waylon Jennings singing and Narrating, The cast was Awesome . It was a good time in life miss them days. Denver seemed like a guy that would welcome you in and talk for hours.
I understand that it was Denver's wishes to not have a headstone. So the family was respecting his wishes. Really loved Uncle Jesse on one of my favorite TV shows. And is Briscoe darling. Rest in peace Uncle Jesse
Friendly guy.... Pat Buttrum was funny as he told me “I gave you a better seat than I gave my own family.” and had me sit with Denver for dinner and the Golden Boot awards presentation in Studio City. What a night, got to sing with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Rex Allen. Clayton Moore sat nearby but it was Monty Hale who made a big impression with me when he told me “ We’re going to take a picture together.”
Hi Rhetty, Craziest thing is I grew up watching these shows and I dont think we missed an episode of either one...but I never realised that unckle Jesse and Mad Jack was the same guy!

You're welcome and I agree with you on him.
I love dukes of Hazzard. I just bought all 7 series of the dukes of Hazzard today on Vudu. All 175 shows for 35.00 today
That was a great deal! I really loved the series.
Funny how different generations remember the stars. Denver Pyle will always be Briscoe Darling to me. Thanks for posting.
Yes he is Briscoe as well. You can see a little bit of similarity between the two. Thank you for watching!
Grizzly Adams was a great show. He had a nice recurring character of the experienced mountain man. He use to call Grizzly Adams a green horn
It's really amazing to think about all the roles he was a part of. He really was a great actor.
what happened to his money! Was that wife a gold digger? Shame on her.!
Denver Pyle played "Mad Jack" in Grizzly Adams. Great show when I was a kid.
Thank you very much for sharing
You're welcome and thank you for watching!
You’d think that the remaining cast of dukes of hazard would put money together and get him a nice headstone.
I sure hope something like that can happen.
How anyone are not clicking like on your videos puzzles me, your videos are awesome mate!
Thank you for watching and I appreciate the kind words!
I loved him as Mr. Darling on the Andy Griffeth Show. The community needs to chip in and get him a headstone. He's too beloved not to have one.🙂💕
He wad really great on the Andy Griffith show! Thank you for watching!
Denver Did NOT WANT a headstone...must respect his wishes.
Enjoy your "for fun" adventures. Thank you so much. Appreciate your efforts.
Thank you Albert! I appreciate you coming along on the adventures!
I remembered Denver Pyle in the early sixties on the Andy Griffith show.Denver Pyle appeared couple of the episodes.
Yes he did! You can really see the character Uncle Jesse develop out of the character Briscoe Darling that he played on The Andy Griffith Show. Thanks for watching!
Very nice video plus I did watch The Dukes of Hazzard befor on TV and i do have all the seasons of DVDs!!
Thank you! I really loved the show. Never really gets old either.
@@RhettyforHistory Your welcome... what year uncle jesse pass away??
He passed away December 25th 1997 just two weeks after he got his star on the walk in Hollywood.
@@RhettyforHistory thanks for info
Hey Rhetty, We used to watch the Dukes of Hazzard with my grandmother, mother, and brother back in the day. lol I didn't even know he died on Christmas day. That's so sad. And no marker on his grave. Hollywood needs to fix that. Or somebody should. Thanks for the info and video.
I'm not sure if it was family wishes or his personal wish not to have a marker or what. I would love to see him have one though. He spent his whole adult life entertaining people and now it just sort of feels like he's been forgotten. But at least his work lives on. Thanks for watching.
So sad the man doesn't have even a headstone. Very informative video, thanks for the sharing!
I thought so too. I do hope he gets one at some point. Thanks for watching!
Also known as Brisco Darling on the Andy Griffith show. Love that show.
Absolutely! He was great on that show.
You know I never saw the show. I was too busy partying at that time. LOL. I was in college. I use to love him in old westerns.
He was great character actor and he was certainly in some good westerns. Thank you for watching!
I loved watching that show
Dang that takes me back
It really was a good show that was pretty wholesome. At least by today's standards anyways. Thanks for watching Carrie!
He also played Ben Thompson and a couple of other characters on "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp". Thanks for the video!
I don't think I realized that. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for watching and telling me about that.
Yeah, I loved the Duke's of z hazard! One of my favorites!❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍
I really loved the show and I really thought it was pretty wholesome at least compared to today's standards.
Rest in peace 'Uncle Jesse' you are not forgotten.
Thank you for watching!
He was a great actor. I use to watch him in Grizzly Adams when I was a little girl.
You're right he was fantastic in that. So many things he was great in.
Thank you, I seen Denver in a classic black and white show of Perry Mason.
Oh yes he was great in that too. Thanks for watching!
He was on Roy Rogers show, many times. May he rest in eternal peace.
I did not know that. Thanks for adding that in there. It's amazing how many shows he's been in.
Denver Pyle was hilarious and a could bring out the most in the characters he portrayed.
He was a great character actor. Thank you for watching!
The last thing Denver played in ever was the first dukes of Hazzard reunion which aired in 1997 a few months later he would be dead Christmas day
You're right about that. I know quite a few people had changed in that one but he didn't look good. I seem to remember he didn't speak too much. Thanks for watching!
Michael Storm he wore a fake beard and hair during the dukes reunion Jimmy best Roscoe felt so sorry for him
@@RhettyforHistory i agree you could tell he didn't look or feel good..
But he wanted to be there, so he was happy to deal with it.
He was in mavric with Mel Gibson
RhettyforFun. Denver Pyle also portrayed Ben Thompson and other roles on the Wyatt Earp series from the 1950s with Hugh O’Brian as Wyatt Earp and Morgan Woodward as Mr.Gibbs which was Earps trusted Deputy. Douglass Fowley portrayed Doc Holiday among other roles within the series. Thanks for all of your great videos.
You're welcome and thank you for adding in some of the other roles that he played.
I never saw that show but I know it was big. I was thinking I read he was her father despite only being two years older in real life?
Thanks for the video. Was.my favorite also.
You're welcome and thank you for watching.
Thanks for sharing his resting place . He was also one of my favorites . Always wondering where he was laid to rest .
You're welcome. He was a great character actor. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So sad why anyone put a beautiful stone were he at. My memories is Grizzly Adams back early 1970s still enjoy watching him and classic hits and Dukes of Hazeards tv show. Always remember are favorite star: god bless him in heaven , thank you for information never know he die of lung cancer. He was very special person and greatest actor though years. Thank you
He was a great actor and when you start looking into it he was in so many different films and shows. Thanks for watching.
Great video! I had a dukes of Hazard birthday cake when I was a kid in the 80s.
Oh that would have been an awesome cake! Thanks for watching!
Your welcome. great videos!
Thank you Lance!
If I could afford it, I would buy a headstone for him.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for posting and sharing this and yes a Headstone or upright or flat marker at least to mark his grave is only fitting.
You're welcome and thank you for watching! I hope to see him have one some time. There are some in the comments that say when his wife passes he will have one.
He was on the rifle man it was 7 and even the tv movie of the andy Griffith in 1989 also he was on Dallas tv series to
He really had a great career in the movie and show industry! Definitely a talented actor!
he is still looking down on us with his smile and love R.I.P uncle jesse just a good ol boy

Come friday night Dukes of Hazzard , strange that he ended up in Texas ,nice video keep up great work
Thank you Edwin! I appreciate you watching!
Man that show had My Favorite Waylon Jennings singing and Narrating, The cast was Awesome . It was a good time in life miss them days. Denver seemed like a guy that would welcome you in and talk for hours.
It was a great show and you're right about the cast being awesome. Waylon really made the show special too. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Rhetty he was on of my favorites. Especially on Andy Griffith. 😁
You're welcome Paul and I appreciate you watching! It's amazing how many stars were in that Andy Griffith Show.
RhettyforFun Oh I know lots of stars. Thanks again.
I understand that it was Denver's wishes to not have a headstone. So the family was respecting his wishes. Really loved Uncle Jesse on one of my favorite TV shows. And is Briscoe darling. Rest in peace Uncle Jesse
I saw on findagrave that was his wishes but I have not seen that anywhere else. Did you see that anywhere else?
@@RhettyforHistory No I only saw it here. findagrave is a good source I hear.
Well sheriff, I didn't know you strang. Take a seat and hold on. A one and a two and a 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Yes, The Andy Griffith Show!
No but if you remember on the episodes Andy played guitar. That's what the reference is.
Thanks again Rhetty. ❤️❤️ I had Daisy Dukes, lol
Wow! I bet that was quite a sight! Thank you for watching Ellen.
didn't no he was buried in Texas.....loved his show..Thank you..
He was a great actor. Thanks for bgg watching Jody.
That sounds like a ccx really special and unique moment to experience. It's definitely something to cherish.
What a great Man!
Yes he was. Thanks for watching!
thank you I enjoyed him and show also
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Mad Jack on the life and times of grizzly Adams
That was a great show. Thank you for watching!
Hi Rhetty, Craziest thing is I grew up watching these shows and I dont think we missed an episode of either one...but I never realised that unckle Jesse and Mad Jack was the same guy!
Oh yes. And if you ever watched Andy Griffith you'll see him in there and you can see how that is a base for how Uncle Jesse is.
Mad Jack on Grizzly adams is how i remembered him then he came along and did Dukes of Hazzard it was amazing. Both him and grizzly adams is sad they both died so young. Bless them both for giving us those great memories of how to do things and not to do things 😊
They were both great together in that. I do hope Denver gets a marker. I know his fans would love to know he has one.
Growing up watching Dukes of Hazzard I love that show I wish I had him for an uncle the patriarchy in a family and someone talk to thank you
It was a great show and I don't think there will ever be another like it. Thanks for watching!
He was in the John Ford classic, “The man who shot Liberty Valance”.
Thank you for adding that!
He was in the TV series "Laramie" several times, played a doctor, outlaw and a good guy.
Interesting. I did not realize that. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Thank you for this video
Denver lead an interesting life
Perhaps he didn’t want a headstone. Or he may have wanted to be memorialized at the time of his second wife’s death
You could be right on those theories. I do hope he eventually has a marker though. Thanks for watching.
Back in 1997 his wife probably couldn't assume that people would be looking up the location of one's grave with the stroke of a key or go to youtube and see a video of the grave site. By the way this video is informative and very well done. Now 23 years later there should be some marker for Denver Pyle, because the secret's out of the bag...... Thanks for the memories Denver....continue to RIP. You are remembered.
Btw I had the Dukes of Hazzard lunchbox too
I'm sure you're right on that. Clearly he has a large fan base with all he has done. I would love to see it marked now.
In this video from a month ago at the grave site the poster says the marker he left at the grave is now gone. I'm sure that was his on the back of the Gravestone. ruclips.net/video/tMPJ_LXCsas/видео.html@@RhettyforHistory
@@RhettyforHistory btw in that video the guy seems to know that he is buried behind the headstone.
I was in love with Bo Duke as a kid!
Do you still love me Thanks Duke
I think a lot of women and little girls like him! Thanks for watching!
I loved watching the Duke of Hazzard . I was in love with Bo Fine too.
Me too!
maam check out bo's youtube channel its called john schneider
Great video as always. Very sad that he doesn't have a marker. I'm sure there is a story there . Maybe , that was his wish. But , as always , thanks for the video.
Thank you and I appreciate you watching. I do hope he gets a marker at some point. It is sad that he doesn't have one but like you said maybe it was his wish.
I looked online and couldn't find anything on why his grave is not marked
I couldn't either. I do hope he get's a marker though.
He will never have a marker that's the way he wanted it.he lived in forreston his house is on forreston road out in the country he was a very nice man
Some actors and actresses don’t want their grave marked with their names on them because of being destroyed.
It's a shame that the dukes of hazard don't come on tv any more.
Konnor Sweet you can thank today’s PC culture for that. Someone is always offended.
@@methree8507 man ain't that the truth, someone is always offended.
Denver Pyle was considered for the role of Matt Dillon and almost thought he had it until James Arness read for the part.
As I was researching him I saw that but I did not know that previously. I can't picture him in that role. Not that he wouldn't have been good but James did so well in it. Thanks for watching!
He was in several Gunsmoke episodes.
@@MrBbobo1234 yes he was. He was a great character actor
Their was also a couple other people that played on gun smoke to mister Edwards off lil house in the praire and either goober or goomer off of andy Griffith
@@traviscallicoat6126 Goober! Yep and a ton of other people. Gunsmoke had just about every one on there at one time or another. John Asrin of the Adam's Family was on there too
