You can add notes into the script, but it may not be the kind Final Draft employs. The notes appear as colored icons (looking like small post-it notes). You can hover over the note to see the text or you can open and edit the note.
I was looking for a good writing software and I got suggested to use "Fade In". Your video was the last argument that convinced me! Greetings from Belgium 🙂
Nice review. I think most of the negative views about the Mobile app were kind of old, prior to the nice upgrade which includes dictation! I've been a huge die hard fan of Fade In Pro for the last 9 years and still can't think of any negative thing to say about it. (And by the way, Fade In has always been able to create Notes.)
Solid review, thanks! As a new young creative that is starting to get into screenwriting, Final Draft was way too much of a price commitment for just starting but Fade-In seems like the sweet spot especially with no subscriptions but has this many professional features!
Just found FI after trying to use Final Draft for months. The simple act of editing index cards is what made me do it. In FD it was virtually impossible. It was insane, I paid full price for FD and I couldn't figure out how to edit the index card function. For 250$ that should be a total no brainer. Instead, I'm sitting there watching youtube videos trying to figure it out. I figured it out in 20 seconds with Fade In
I have just gone and bought the paid version of Fade In. I cannot seem to figure out how to make the text darker without using the bold icon. Please help if you can. thanks
@@matheusmariani3108 Thanks for the clarification! You are correct about the screenplays for tv and the stage play. I was keying in on the novel piece, which at least in my version of Fade In, does not have a template.
They accept final draft format as well as pdf format both of which Fade IN can do. SO yes if you use Fade IN to write your script and use one of those format styles there shouldn't be a problem. Rian Johnson of Knives out fan uses Fade In for all of his screenplays.
@@ScreenwritingScribe awesome! Thank you. Picked up my first writing gig. Gotta bang out 15 pages in a week. I have WriterDuet at the moment but only the free version. Will get FD when I start paid writing project.
The takeaway in this review is that Fade In is a worthy alternative to Final Draft. So the title of the review is misleading click-bait. It's a fair review, but it is not a "brutal" one.
This is one of my second reviews, the first being squibbler and it was a brutal review. I thought I would just roll with that but have since dropped it because most of the other software i have used it a lot better. I will think about renaming this one.
@@jordanzlotolow8254 Just want to clarify, that you can't find the number from them after your purchase. When did you email them? How long ago? I would tell you to keep writing because you can always save it as a final draft format and take it to another screenwriting software program if this one doesn't work.

Greeting! I am glad you found something that works for you! If you have any questions let me know. I wish you well in your writing journey!
I just bought the pro version. love it. The only downside is that it freezes up from time to time. Other than that, very good program.
Is there any difference between the Pro and the Free versions, other than the absence of pop-ups?
Fade In is my go to! I write screenplays, comics, novel books, short stories and so on. It never crashed on me, and it's pretty stable.
Totally agree! There is a lot to be said for a program just to work and work well.
How do you write a Novel on fade in is there an option.

Thanks for a great review. I've been using this software for a few years and always favoured it to Final Draft.
Thank you for your kind words. I have really enjoyed using it lately as well. It is a great program and has a lot of wonderful features.
Thanks for an excellent review. I agree that the ease of use is very important and that's why I prefer FadeIn over Final Draft.
Thank you for your kind words. I agree Fade In is very easy to use and it just works! Happy writing!
Enjoying Fade In !!! Thanks for the video!
Glad u enjoy it! Love it myself. If u have any questions let me know. Happy writing!
I have written three screenplays using movie magic. Can I automatically mobe them to Fade In?
Yup just download them as pdf and it should work.
I have just gone and bought the paid version of Fade In. I cannot seem to figure out how to make the text darker without using the bold icon. Please help if you can. thanks
Have you thought about inverting the text and the page color? You can do that under view and then selecting custom view colors.
Another option is going under Fade IN to the preference menu and then go under user interface. You can change color and stuff in their as well.
@@ScreenwritingScribe thanks. Will try that.
@@gavintucker8942 Let me know if that helps, if not I will look into some other solutions.
Can you use this for novels and stage plays/musicals, or only for screen scripts?
Scripts only. A good one to look at for those other items is scrivener. Funny enough I am working on a review of that right now.
Here is the webpage. www.literatureandlatte.com
They, as I recall, have templates for movie screenplay, both half hour and 1h TV episodes screenplay, and also stage play and novels.

An important question to ask is do professionals accept Fade In? If you actually submit a screenplay using Fade In, will it even be considered?

I use notes all the time.
Hi, Can we make a script breakdown in fade in?
Are you looking for reports like a character report? A synopsis report? If so yes it does. It is under the production menu.
If I'm on a plane that has no WIFI, can I still use FadeIn when it's offline.
Yup. You download it on your computer so you should be all good to go.

I don't know.
They will not send my the confirmation code and I bought. Stuck with the demo.
