Hi!! How long did it take you to finish ISC2? I'm just a bit nervous and anxious since I also want to obtain it as my first certification as well. Thank you!
I agree with you, except the OSCP part. Yes for newbies its really hard. But it's entry pentesting cert still. It does not mean its entry level IT cert by no means! For some folks like me (sysadmin and devops background) it can be the shortest path to pentest interview. Intentionally saying interview and not job cos this will (HR recognition of this cert), get your foot in the door. I got my pentesting interview only cos having that cert. It's difficult, but highly valued. Now im in for OSEP (which suddenly feels kinda easy after all experience from real job except it still has a bit if CTF parts in it.) I saw your other videos tho and can relate to lot of opinions so you definetly have a new sub here! Keep up this great work getting people into cybersec! Hey UnixGuy, I've been following you for a year now, and last november I enrolled in an Associate Degree in Cybersec. I hope to get my Sec+ in the next 6 months and maybe something else in the next year, idk. I got the Security+ first, then my military job paid for me to get CEH. When I got out I realized I let the CEH expire. It was a terrible PenTest exam in my opinion, not only was it subpar basic, and even the grammar was trash. I am interested in eJPT now.

🇵🇭 Just as a heads up for fellow Filipino takers of the (ISC2) CC. I finished the course in a week. However, there is no online testing facility. They scrapped it due to "unsatisfactory results" that could somewhat tarnish their image. I finished the course, but did not take the exam because of geographical considerations - have to go to capital region (40 km away) to take the test at night (6 pm to 8 pm). You said that when you do the fundamental certificate, we should do penetration certificate, so does the Penetration Certificate + CISSP complement each other? I ask these questions to draft a sort of a road map so when I'm asked what I'm doing I'm able to give a solid answer and for clarity sake.
pentest certs to give you a practical understanding of the attacks that you protect against. CISSP is a management certificate aimed at someone with 5 years experience in the field

Hi, thank you for all the work you put in to help other people. After watching all your videos about starting a carrer in cyber security I have one question. Would you now recommend a beginner to start with the Google certificate, MS certificate or the ISC2?
Hi UnixGuy, I'm excited to share that I passed the (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity exam today! I'm now looking to pursue the eJPT certification. However, I haven't started my Certificate IV in Cybersecurity at TAFE yet, as the course is not accepting applications at this time. Hello UnixGuy. I think there was a little confusion :D. You have mentioned "eLearnSecurity Certified Incident Responder" but have indicated different certification :"eCTHPv2" . "Incident Responder" certification should be "eCIR".
@@rordanstanton7431 I don’t recommend going by ‘search keywords’ alone. You could also just filter by a skill like ‘SQL Injection’ for example. Hi and thank you for the amazing videos. I am 48 and I am starting the last months CCNA to generally learn about networking and then go to cyber security. Hey Ellias, your age is an asset, people with maturity are valued! Good day UnixGuy, I hope you doing you good, can I ask, let's say i passed the CC, would you recommend that I should move to CISSP. The reason I ask is the company I'm in requires me to be doing something technical or industry-based certification. In my situation I actually don't have any IT background or degree or diploma in these field but I desperately want to learn and specialize in these field cyber security space. It is something that I should do asap. I have already started working on the CC and also doing practise questions on RUclips which are bit difficult but I'm managing.
if you don’t have any IT experience then I strongly recommend you do the Google cert that I talk about in this video, watch it: ruclips.net/video/6LIUhx95MCU/видео.html

Thanks for the quick response on the previous video, followed your link and have written down the next goals! One last question, I stated that I'm working on the SSCP, so far its another blanket but seems a bit more indepth than security + is this a respectable cert in the industry?
SSCP is used as a stepping stone to CISSP, I personally would do either CC or security+, then I would the certs that I mentioned in this video instead because they’re practical and more useful
@@UnixGuy I highly appreciate your time! Thank you, I'll finish this cert as I have started the journey anyway! Will update within a month. Thanks again!
Because in the real world pentesters dont really do or need to do networking certs. Networking certs are required if someone wants to be a network engineer
What do hiring managers think about candidates who have all of their certs obtained within the last couple of years as opposed to spread out over time?
Thanks for the great. How about ISACA CISA .. also how about having a certification in Cloud Computing (such as Azure certifications or AWS), would they help in starting a career in Cybersecurity?
they sould but CISA require 5 years of experience. cloud is good too. If you want more options try the courses I recommended here: ruclips.net/video/ug_ruisDUXc/видео.html
I was thinking since i passed the CC, i go ahead and do the SSCP rather then the Security+, i compared the exam objectives of each and they almost look identical content wise. What puts me off is the AMF for SSCP every year :/
you need to stat learning, start with some training then build on top of it by doing more courses and projects. This is how we all start. start here: ruclips.net/video/C6IgksBpMF4/видео.html then watch the rest of my videos to learn more about the process
Thanks, you have been guiding me since last year. Regarding CISA and CISSP you can sit the exam without the 5 year experience. Is it a waste for newcomer with only other certificates like sec+, ejpt, cysa+ to do those 2 exams? I plan to sit them eventually knowing I won't be awarded the cert just acknowledgement of passing the exam. Any benefit in hiring managers' eyes?
hey mate, of course there is value, they’re challenging certifications but they focus on security management! If you choose a specific security specialisation, you can also do other certifications meanwhile while you acquire 4 yrs of experience (years pass quickly)

Hi!! How long did it take you to finish ISC2? I'm just a bit nervous and anxious since I also want to obtain it as my first certification as well. Thank you!
This was helpful.
Unfortunately, I’m doing CEH because I’m in a program. But I will definitely go for the eJPT next!
hey Saul, that’s ok, plenty of time to do eJPT once you finish CEH, enjoy it 🎉
I have been struggling with all the path options for awhile. What you are saying makes sense. I am going to look into it.
👏🏻👏🏻
I agree with you, except the OSCP part. Yes for newbies its really hard. But it's entry pentesting cert still. It does not mean its entry level IT cert by no means! For some folks like me (sysadmin and devops background) it can be the shortest path to pentest interview. Intentionally saying interview and not job cos this will (HR recognition of this cert), get your foot in the door.
I got my pentesting interview only cos having that cert. It's difficult, but highly valued. Now im in for OSEP (which suddenly feels kinda easy after all experience from real job except it still has a bit if CTF parts in it.)
I saw your other videos tho and can relate to lot of opinions so you definetly have a new sub here!
Keep up this great work getting people into cybersec! We need every passionate soul get into the industry!
yeah it’s not an advanced pentest cert but it’s hard and frustrating, at least there are more options now

Hey UnixGuy, I've been following you for a year now, and last november I enrolled in an Associate Degree in Cybersec. I hope to get my Sec+ in the next 6 months and maybe something else in the next year, idk. Travelling to the capital region is not so good for me as I live in the provinces. Oh well. "Sayang" as we say.

Google :)
Hi UnixGuy,
I'm excited to share that I passed the (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity exam today! I'm now looking to pursue the eJPT certification. However, I haven't started my Certificate IV in Cybersecurity at TAFE yet, as the course is not accepting applications at this time.
My question is whether I can start applying for cybersecurity jobs now, even without the Certificate IV, or if I need to complete at least the Certificate IV or bachelor before being considered for a job in the field?
Thank you for your help.
congrats that’s soo coool!!! yes absoluteky you can start applying, it’ll br hard but you can do it!

Hello UnixGuy. I think there was a little confusion :D. You have mentioned "eLearnSecurity Certified Incident Responder" but have indicated different certification :"eCTHPv2" . "Incident Responder" certification should be "eCIR".
correct, it is a typo. It shoid be eCIR
Thanks UnixGuy for this breakdown and your consistently informative content. In your opinion, can the Comptia Pentest+ replace eJPT in this pathway?
yes eJPT is a lot better because its hands-on practical
@@UnixGuy A counter argument is that on indeed Pentest+ results show 215 jobs while eJPT comes back with only 20
@@rordanstanton7431 I don’t recommend going by ‘search keywords’ alone. You could also just filter by a skill like ‘SQL Injection’ for example. I’m not saying Pentest+ is bad, I’m saying you’re better off learning the skill of pentesting through hands-on practice as opposed to memorising multiple choice question-style :)
Great videos brother! I just discovered you and your videos a few days ago. I'm so glad I did. I got my CCNA last year and am almost finished with the Google Cybersecurity training and Security+, which I should get in a couple of weeks. Then I will finish the CCNP, which I have also been studying for since I got the CCNA. I was then thinking about pursuing the OSCP straight away. Should I get a pentest cert before doing OSCP? I heard OSCP is hard. Or you think I would be ready to tackle it right away after getting the Google CS and Sec+? How do CySA+ and eJPT compare to OSCP as far as being marketable?

Hey Unix. I've seen that you are not really an advocate on doing networking certs if you want to get into Pentesting. Why is that?
Because in the real world pentesters dont really do or need to do networking certs. Networking certs are required if someone wants to be a network engineer
What do hiring managers think about candidates who have all of their certs obtained within the last couple of years as opposed to spread out over time?
quite normal, it means they worked hard in the last 2 years
@@UnixGuy Good to know. Thanks!
Thanks for the great. How about ISACA CISA .. also how about having a certification in Cloud Computing (such as Azure certifications or AWS), would they help in starting a career in Cybersecurity?
they sould but CISA require 5 years of experience. cloud is good too. If you want more options try the courses I recommended here:
ruclips.net/video/ug_ruisDUXc/видео.html
I was thinking since i passed the CC, i go ahead and do the SSCP rather then the Security+, i compared the exam objectives of each and they almost look identical content wise. What puts me off is the AMF for SSCP every year :/
I’m not a fan of SSCP, do other certs to build up and when u meet the requirements just do CISSP
What do I have to do with no experience or no knowledge about cybersecurity but want to get into it?
you need to stat learning, start with some training then build on top of it by doing more courses and projects. This is how we all start. start here:
ruclips.net/video/C6IgksBpMF4/видео.html
then watch the rest of my videos to learn more about the process
Thanks, you have been guiding me since last year. Regarding CISA and CISSP you can sit the exam without the 5 year experience. Is it a waste for newcomer with only other certificates like sec+, ejpt, cysa+ to do those 2 exams? I plan to sit them eventually knowing I won't be awarded the cert just acknowledgement of passing the exam. Any benefit in hiring managers' eyes?
hey mate,
of course there is value, they’re challenging certifications but they focus on security management!
If you choose a specific security specialisation, you can also do other certifications meanwhile while you acquire 4 yrs of experience (years pass quickly)
Great video. How long would you say someone should study for the ejpt who has their sec+ and some level of hacking experience.
it’s different for everyone, I did version1 and It took 1.5 months but its all self-paced so really depends on how much you put into it
Just cleared CySA+ few days back, and it was not an easy one to clear. Wondering what to do next. eJpt?
depends on whats your goal?
