Cyber security promises a challenging yet rewarding career. For past two days I have been researching on how to start in cyber security and was very confused. Today I came across your channel and after watching 4 begginer specific videos now I can see a road ahead. I am starting from today itself and will stick to the courses, resources for doing project , building a strong base and profile and will come back after 2 months to tell about the progress that I have made. Thank you for guiding.❤

I started the Cisco Training back in Dec 2023. I just found the ISC2 last night. I am also supplementing with vendor training and Coursera on individual tools that covered in the Cybersecurity training. I have used Splunk, Nmap and Wireshark and Palo Alto Firewalls, but have not been formally trained. I am interested in these tools, so I will retain the knowledge. Thanks for all of your content!
Good job!
As a beginner who I'm trying to break into cybersecurity... This video has truly made my day ♥️
glad to hear that, that’s why I make the videos. Best of lucky 🤝
@@UnixGuy am grate full this video also helped me
How is your job hunt going? Im thinking of getting into cyber security too but i dont know where to start from
I went through the ISC2 cybersecurity course. If you actually pay attention, take notes, and don't rush through, it has really valuable information that you need to know. I did not go take the actual certification exam because I am almost done with my cybersecurity degree and just wanted the knowledge from the course. I get plenty of tests in class, lol.
ok
should you pay at the end of the course to get the certification?
@@narenrakesh2599 not for isc2 cc
@@narenrakesh2599yes we have to pay $50 to get certification as annual maintaince after the completion of examination.
Forage is the most easiest and the most convenient to add to your linkedin too.. Currently preparing for CC meanwhile doing Google certification along with letsdefend learning paths ( suggested by you).. Will be graduating in couple of months.. Hope I could get a job by all this.. Thanks for always uploading quality content ❤
Keep up the good work 👏🏻
You need to learn pandas to complete Forage right?
How do I get in forage ? Is that a new platform? If so, what is the website? Can you elaborate more please. Thanks
A gold mine of vital info from BIG companies. Until now i was not aware of this after watching your video and you know what you are a gold mine for me. Thank you so much for making a big difference to my life.

Dear UnixGuy,
Thank you for creating the video on free training that I have asked you in the comments of your previous video. I truly appreciate the effort you’re putting into the community. I’m delighted to have discovered your videos on RUclips.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for this video, very day I get up and sit at my PC and fill out application and practice my typing. I have been running into what you mention on here, but am not giving up. I have always been interested in computers since I was a kid and now at 59 am starting a new carer and am excited. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Thank you for sharing these great free resources and recommendations. I had started to learn about Cybersecurity with the free Cisco & ISC2 CC courses, and they are indeed really good foundational courses. Qualys was next in my list too. What a bout google certificate
@@SaiSai-sc3kb A lot of RUclipsr influencers have recommended the Google Certificate. Good for beginners apparently. Can't go wrong with it.

I got my ISC2 CC certification this month. Took several other courses before and I'm continuously studying, of course. Really hope that is going to broaden the possibilities. 🤞🏼🙌🏼
But I have noticed that many of the entry-level vacancies ask for the CISSP, which says on the ISC2 website that is for those who have 5+ years of experience, so the same old story... 🤷🏼♂ But I'm applying anyway!
well done, keep applying! and consider investing in some good quality training with these

@@michaeldickerson98 Thanks!
As I read comments from people before I took the test, most of the questions are indeed quite different from the training course, but taking the entry or final test from the training several times helped me a lot to better understand the concepts.

Any tips for a sophomore in high school wanting to start in cyber security? I have been taking an interest in cybersecurity but not sure how I should start and what should I do and not do while Learning online.
if you’re in school then just do the free stuff in this video :)
Forage it self tells not use those virtual internship certificatuons in the experience section 🤷 (You can check the info given out there once you complete the virtual internship)
okay great
This is some great information. Currently doing the Comptia Security+, however, as it's all theory, I was thinking of doing the Google Cyber Security too since it gives you some practical hands on experience. However, many people say don't do both. Perhaps doing the course in this video might be better?
I highly disagree with what other people are saying. I did the Google Cybersecurity Cert first which gave me hands-on experience thru projects, then used the discount code you get from completing it to buy a voucher for the Sec+. Passed it last week. You'll still need to do some more learning after the Google Cert
Dont listen to those ‘many people’ that you speak off. Google cert is great
@@nishmoneyhow long did it take you to finish the Google cert?
Nuff Respect bro. I have no technical skills and no knowledge about this, but I have been looking for some info about Cyber security I couldn't understand none at all and think it could be hard and a lot to study. I found your channel very understandable. Am almost in my late 30s I don't know if I will be a good candidate for the field. I used to work hard but I just had a cervical spine surgery am still in the healing process, and now am thinking about what should I do to have a better job where I won't have to lift heavy duties anymore. After watching your video I will give it a shot. Thank you for such inspiration and I just subscribed. I will use your info to start to study 🙏🏾 once I get this certificate would I have to apply for more certificate? Cause I know there's CompTIA and Comptia + etc I know all this you have to courses and earn a certificate for them.
welcome here! yes you can do the free resources until you have some savings then you should invest in some good quality training like the ones mentioned in this video:

Hello @UnixGuy, Loved the content of this video. It`s my first time here, a friend introduced me to your channel. I took some beginner friendly courses (like the google cybersecurity course, try hack me, and some more), and I`m thinking to take your GRC course too. I`m thinking to be well rounded in the area of soc analyst and GRC, like to be really good as a soc-analyst, and have a knowledge about GRC. My question is how then should I apply for jobs, do you think I could apply for both areas, Analyst & GRC (which one is beginner friendly)? And how should I prepare my resume to apply for a soc analyst and GRC?? Thanks for your support!
hey mate,
yes it will make you well rounded but it will also qualify you for a lot more roles. This way you can apply to both soc analyst and non technical grc roles! Also GRC knowledge will help you get jobs in generalists roles where you get to do a bit of everything (very common in small and medium sized organisations)
Best of luck!
Big thanks sir, people like me beneft from these grateful
It's my pleasure
Huge Golden Nuggets Dropped on this one!!! Thanks for sharing!!! BTW, you need some sort of company email for Qualys but if you have a school (college) email that you can use, then that would work too (should). I got my Qualys VMDR cert back in May of 2023 by using my school email. Thanks again!!!

Is this the correct direction to brcome a cybersecurity analyst....
Do you have interview q & a video base on your 20 experience ur opinion matters. Also contract jobs posted can it be used as a side projects.. and can it be remote?
Finally, alot pro cybersercurity brag i guess about 90k + salary but not about the time to put in to acquire that type of salary... for example for a guy like me to 75k salary i have to put in 60hour a week including overtime to accomplish that .. generally speaking how hours do u put in on a daily work day for you at ur entry level cybersercurity first job

Could you please guide me? I'm currently involved in digital marketing but have recently developed a keen interest in OSINT and digital forensics. I'm eager to delve deeper into this field.
Do you think OSINT will become a separate domain in the future? I'm interested in pursuing a career in it.
Are there any specific roadmaps for OSINT, or should I follow the traditional cybersecurity analyst roadmap, considering OSINT is a part of it (please correct me if I'm mistaken)?
no OSINT will not be its own domain, that’s the honest truth. follow this:
